This is a completely unofficial poll, and the results are unlikely to do anything.

Would have been better if you had have made a compendium of popular suggested roles and request they get considered at R&D. People may not like it, but that's where all the desicion making comes from.
Whether or not the roles get adopted is quite irrelevant. The fact is that I'm trying to gather information, data, using a poll as a survey to see which roles would be the most popular among the mafia sc2 community. The results should become a clear indication to what the people want and hopefully (don't want to sound too informal here) would be enough of a push for the development team and DR to code them. Of course it's not as simple as that, there's many other implications, but I believe it would prove to be a convenient and veritable source of data. And in some sense, it doesn't matter if this gets posted on R&D. Most of the mods and admins will see this thread regardless. I mainly used the proposition to entice people to vote, in hindsight probably not the best idea, since I can't guarantee anything. However, in the end it's mainly a survey, and it's the results that should be taken into consideration.

I'm pretty sure Mafia Discussion is taken seriously by the moderators. Just that there might be too many overlapping suggestions, spam threads by trolls, and non-role related discussion, thus the R&D filter.

And as Lazers said, good mechanics are smuggled into R&D.
Alright good to know, I already took out the implementation wording from my post.

I never meant to be carried away, just trying to remain optimistic.

All I was going to do was email DR with the results. I believe they will be taken much more seriously if there is a bunch people shown to support the role rather than one. I mean no disrespect, I worked hard on this and I was hoping it would be helpful since it would be the first poll combining a variety of suggestions from different users. I never mentioned they WOULD be implemented for certain, just taken with more consideration. At the end, it's to the discretion of the creators.

My intentions are good and selfless, I hope you can understand.

    Not sure if serious...
By popularity contest, I mean people who will vote for said role simply because their friend suggested it rather than voting for legitimate reasons. Same goes for trolling. I have classified them into niches, the different colors represent different alignments: Green - town, red - maf, yellow - neutral, purple - neutral evil.

    NOTE:

    - Please at the very least briefly read every role before voting, that way your vote(s) are informed
    - You may vote for as many roles as you want
    - This is not a popularity or troll contest, vote for which one you truly would want to see in the game.
    - The Poll will be open for a total of 7 days
    - Once the Poll is over, and the results are final, I will post a new thread informing you of the winning top 3 roles.

Remember: Top 3 Roles will be submitted to R&D (i.e sent to someone with access to R&D, most likely to DR himself) for more Serious Consideration

Edit: Last minute change. After finding out that Neutral Killer is not an actual role, I replaced it with an actual neutral role that I believe merits to be on here. It's actually quite good and I suggest checking it out.

Mod Edit: Just as a reminder, this is NOT an officially sanctioned poll and has no bearing on role implementation
  6. ►►Re: Submit your top 3 roles for consideration! Skimming out the best roles from the community!◄◄

Well I just wanted to remind everyone that today is the last and final day I will be accepting role suggestions. From the suggestions gathered here, I will be making the poll (which will be later on today).

If you have any role suggestions that you like or find worthy, submit them now or wait for the poll.

Good work man. Although I don't think it'll prove to be very necessary, the vast majority of members are quite literate and conduct their posts as so (from what I have seen). Your post only covers very rudimentary material, which I guess in all intents and purposes is very practical for a forum, but not entirely helpful.

I'd rather see a topic discussing advanced usage of the english language, such as the proper usage of colons, semicolons, and hyphens. This of course is just for one to develop stylistic brilliance; to command the english language with such flourish and authenticity, as to give maximum effect.

I actually like this role. Really creative. +1. However, I believe nostradamus should definitely be immune at night. Because considering how many souls he needs and the fact that there is a slim chance the person he chooses will die, it'll be very very difficult for him to win. Especially since he doesn't win unless EVERYONE dies.

    ►►Re: New Role: Cult Leader◄◄

Looks decent, but yeah I think I've already seen this one before. The only problem is with the night immunity of cult leader, it basically means he can continue recruiting every night without fear of death. This can screw up town big time since cult will be able to permanently recruit (unless there's lynch) and thus waste a lot of their valuable roles like invest, sheriff, etc. I believe there's a reason cult leader hasn't yet been implemented, could be OP. Also the as someone already mentioned, if someone attacked cult leader and saw someone else died, well it becomes obvious who cult leader is.

I'll add this to the poll though. Be interesting to see what others think.

Don't want to sound mean, but when the time comes where you need to submit yourself for a promotion, then clearly you're not ready. What you have shown here is that you lack patience and humility. You believe that the staff and members here have not noticed you, and for that reason, you must suggest yourself for keeper. No my friend, the staff have most likely kept score and have taken note of your contributions. Sooner rather than later something would have happened. At the very least, you should've waited until another member or friend suggested you for keeper. For this reason, I have voted no.
  12. ►►Re: Submit your top 3 roles for consideration! Skimming out the best roles from the community!◄◄

Synonym: "A word having the same or nearly the same meaning as another in the language" (Dictionary.com). Yes, I guess I did get slightly confused with synonyms as opposed to a word having several definitions. My bad. However since we're editing our posts, I might as well add that there is a missing comma after "this" in your post. As it stands, the sentence is a run-on since you're combining a dependent clause with an independent clause without its necessary punctuation.

To be precise you wanted to say that in order to get a representation of the population in question, you need a more diversified sample than you have received so far.
I hope you realize that words have synonyms (i.e they can mean different things). I used the terms correctly in the context that I was saying them. If you look up the words in the dictionary, you will have found that I did use them correctly. If you want me to rephrase the sentence, it'll sound like this: "In order to produce valid results for the purpose at hand, I would need a more "diversified sample than what I have received so far". Really this is just being nit picky and gives no significant difference. I was hoping you would wow me with some response in terms of its mathematical definition. I actually was inclined to learn something new. Sadly, this was not the case and all I got was "you just try to make yourself look just like a bigshot politician". No, this was just years of doings essays, using a thesaurus, and reading.
  14. ►►Re: Submit your top 3 roles for consideration! Skimming out the best roles from the community!◄◄

    @ Lead

Please, please, I beg of you, enlighten me.

Edit: Still waiting to be enlightened. Btw I used representation in more of a survey term, as in, in order to make a more accurate (not precise) report you need to survey as many people as possible on a specific demographic of the population depending on your aim. In this scenario, I was implying that by only having a few roles (most of which created by the same users) it's not at all a reliable way to represent the BEST of the community's roles. The more diverse suggestions, the more accurate the report.

As for "validity", I used in a way to say whether the poll or not would be "valid" (i.e a fair representation in which the results could be used). The results could be considered valid if the poll itself fairly represented its targeted group. If for example all of the poll's suggestions were only created by 3 users, and only few well-accepted by the community, then regardless of the poll's results, it wouldn't be entirely valid. Since it did not at all represent the best of the entire community's roles.
  15. ►►Re: Submit your top 3 roles for consideration! Skimming out the best roles from the community!◄◄

I just wanted to remind everyone that I am still in need of good solid role suggestions for the upcoming poll. Thanks for those who have already posted their suggestions, but I would like to see more in order to get a better representation and validity for the poll, and the results.

If you have any role suggestions that you have read or created that you like, feel free and don't be shy to suggest.

    Thanks.

FYI: The Poll will be up in 2 or 3 days (Tuesday).

Nice. Considering you're 19 and the game is what, 2 years old? You must've made it in highschool lol. I'll stick with making batch files that open an infinite number of tabs . I always heard C++ is the best, but some others say Java is the most powerful. Which doesn't really make sense, but it's widely used in the commercial industry. Do you know how to code using Java? I only know a tiny bit with the MC server I co-own with my friends.

As much as programming does sound cool, I'll stick with my dream of being a Mech or civil engineer.

    What's your major?

I'm assuming since you were able to figure out how to code yourself, you must have a knack for it. Software engineering?

Hey DR, I've always been curious, how much do of the game do you make yourself? Like do you code everything? If so, that's pretty impressive. What coding languages do you use and where did you learn how to program videogames/your previous experience?

Also, if you don't mind me asking, who does the animations/artwork? Did you model the map as well?

I kind of like this role. However, I think you should clearly identify the options because as of currently, it sounds really OP. 1 night in between, and limited uses is a good idea, add them under options. Also, if you take their charges as militiaman, do they still get to use their abilities that night? Cause otherwise you're just taking the abilities of other town members, which is not only broken but boring for them.

Anyways, I suggest you add this to my thread so I can post it on the upcoming poll.

    @Borkbot
It is allowed, you can briefly describe the role but you can't copy and paste the entire role as that will be leaking info from R&D which is disallowed. Just paste the link, only those who are VIP/donors/staff will be able to see the thread anyways.

[MOD EDIT] Do not describe roles from R&D, any role which paraphrases an R&D role without linking to a thread which exists outside of R&D will be treated as leaking.
  22. ►►Submit your top 3 roles for consideration! Skimming out the best roles from the community!◄◄

Since the glorious and long awaited patch 1.5 has came out, I have decided to help out the development team on skimming out the best roles suggested by the community.

    It will work like this:

If you have a good role idea that you strongly believe would benefit the game, you can reply to this thread suggesting the role. You can also suggest other roles created by other users as well. To submit a role, do all of the following:

    1. Reply to this thread
    2. Type
    Role: [insert role name]
Brief description of role: [max 2 sentences]
[paste link to the thread it was originally suggested in]
User: [insert name of the user who CREATED it]

You can suggest up to 3 roles

Once I believe there is enough roles suggested, I will make a new thread with a poll. This poll will highlight all the best roles suggested by you, the community, and people will be able to decide on which role they want the most in the game. The number of roles on the pole will depend on the submissions to this thread, but will be no more than 25 (probably around 20). All the roles will have links to their original threads (by the format listed above) so users can investigate and learn more about the role. Once the poll is over, the top 3 roles that gained the most votes will be submitted to the R&D team for more serious consideration.

    NOTE:

-If you don't have all the necessary fields filled in, your role won't be looked at.
-Only the first 3 roles you suggest will be looked at, don't bother submitting more.
-Please only submit roles that were well-received by the community. They must be the following:
    1. Original
    2. Balanced and can stand on its own
    3. Will implement more metagame/strategy to the game

-Be nice, don't just suggest your own roles, try to suggest others that you find great as well.
-The poll will be multiple choice.

The seduced person guarding someone will be roleblocked as they will be commanded to bg. As for the seduction ITSELF (i.e seducer visiting someone) they won't be roleblocked.

I don't want to make it that seducer becomes half escort. Her job is to ensure the protection of town members through the disposal of other roles.

    ►►New Role Idea: Seducer◄◄

Seducer: A mesmerizingly gorgeous looking woman who is as just as capable, manipulative, and caniving as she is attractive.

    Alignment: Town/Normal

Special Abilities: A seducer is a manipulative role in the intent that a seducer can seduce one person a night. At night the seducer will visit her chosen target and seduce them with her charming personality, slender manner, and sexy looks. A message will display "An attractive person has approached you at night. You have been seduced!". Once her target is seduced, she can control her target the following night to protect someone (she can target herself) and the seduced victim will sacrifice their life to save the target (basically functions as bodyguard). NOTE: A seducer must have already SEDUCED them the pervious night before being able to use them as bodyguards.
Another note: A seducer cannot seduce the following 3 roles: SK, Arson, Godfather.

    Options:

    -Limited to 3 seductions
    -Limited to 2 seductions
    -Limited to 1 seduction
    -Cannot target herself
-Every other nigh she can seduce
-Victim will not be notified they are seduced

    Goal: Wins with town

SPECIAL NOTES (please read these as they might answer questions you have about the role)

So wait, how is seducer town? She seems like a neutral to me.

A seducer does border on the line of neutral however, I made her a town role as I'm not entirely certain what her win condition would be as neutral (survive till end? Nah). Plus, a seducer can function perfectly as a town member by saving town power roles like sheriff and mayor with seduced victims. Plus town could use the role.

This seems OP, how can seduced victims escape seduction?

Ah, the obvious question but really important. A seduced victim may only be used once as a bodyguard, and will then snap out of their infatuation/lust phase (I.e if she used them as a bodyguard, but no one attacks the person they're sent to protect). A seducer cannot target a victim she already used before twice. Functions like this:
    1. Seduce victim first night
    2. Use them as BG second night
    3. Victim is free from seduction, seducer must pick another person to seduce.
Victims can also escape seduction by A. killing/lynching seducer. B. Getting healed by doctor.

Can a seduced victim kill like a bodyguard would when sacrificing themselves?

No, this would make the role OP.

Does a seducer have to use a seduced victim as a bodyguard the following night? Is it mandatory?

No, the seducer will have the option to use them but doesn't have to. If she doesn't, then the victim will be able to do as they wish BUT will remain seduced.

Can a seducer have more than 1 seduced victim at any given time?

Impossible. Once one target is seduced, the only option she has at night is using them as a bodyguard, she can't go and seduce another victim UNTIL the victim dies (lynched, killed, or used as BG).

When a victim is seduced are they roleblocked?

No, only when they are used as bodyguards will they be roleblocked from their abilities.

Can a seducer seduce other town members?

Yes she can. She can seduce anyone so long as they don't have night immunity (SK, Arson, GF, someone who has doc on them, or people with bulletproof vests).

    Wouldn't she harm town?

Yes she can. A seducer must be smart with who she targets, for example. If there's no evil role known of, it's better to use a confirmed citizen and use them to protect a sheriff or jailor. However, she might just ending up using town roles to protect neutral roles and vice versa. This adds more metagame to the role.

    ►►Re: Role Idea: Prisoner◄◄

Thanks for the comments, I like when people ask questions as it gives me the chance to reevaluate the role and make it more balanced/refined.

    1. No prisoner does NOT win if he isn't ever released from prison. Remember his goal is to ESCAPE prison and then become a more active role. Until then he's just a seemingly neutral benign role with no abilities under confinement at night.

    2. No sheriff will not be able to detect prisoner at all, he will still only be able to detect mafia, arson, cults, and sks, otherwise prisoner wouldn't fair a chance when playing as killer since he has no night invulnerability. It's also one of the perks of being prisoner since your imprisoned every night.

    3. Invest reports "Target is not suspicious, most likely citizen". Something along those lines but there won't be any doubt.

    4. Prisoner has the option of killing every night once he has escaped (icons will be beside names). It's up to prisoner to prisoner whether to actually target someone. Until then he assumes role as citizen. If prisoner dies (having escaped) but never killed while alive, he will die as "Prisoner" so town knows, but will win if town wins. If he kills, he will win like an SK would (A cool animation will display possibly with jail bars to represent prisoner winning at end).

I'll add these to the notes.

This was done on purpose so he doesn't become just another SK and that would also make him slightly OP (remember prisonner is fully immune to detect, more than GF. If searched by invest, it will say "target is not suspicious, possibly citizen" it won't say "hiding something sinister"). He also can't be searched by a sheriff as sk can, this is so he won't be lynched unfairly when playing town and gives him a fair chance as killer. Also I left the option for invulnerability there if needed. But he's already invulnerable when imprisoned, I think it would be overplay.

    ►►Role Idea: Prisoner◄◄

Prisoner: A mysterious convict whose only purpose is to escape prison to either integrate himself once again with society, or revert back to killing.

    Alignment: Neutral/Advanced

Special Abilities: A prisoner is jailed and cannot do anything until he is visited. If visited, the prisoner will use the opportunity to roleblock the perpetrator and escape prison (I.e a person who targeted him will be roleblocked and the prisoner will escape that night). Once the prisoner has escaped pertinentiary confinement, the town will be publicly notified that a prisoner has escaped and is among us. Once the prisoner has escaped, he gains the ability to kill at night (basically becomes an SK without night immunity). A prisoner to all investigative roles (including sheriff) will appear as a citizen/not suspicious all game. The prisoner can either choose to lay low and vote with town or go on a murderous rampage after being released. If the prisoner does not kill at all, he can win simply by acting as citizen and seeing town win. But if the prisoner kills even 1 person, he must be the last one standing to win (he becomes a criminal and must be lynched or killed). NOTE: A prisoner has a key weakness: If a prisoner is jailed by a jailor, the jailor will automatically receive the message "You have jailed a recently escaped convict". The jailor will obviously then execute if he isn't trolling or might let him live if he promises to act as town citizen. THIS only applies if the prisoner has escaped, otherwise, the jailor will receive no message if the convict is still in confinement.

Goal: To see town win OR be the last one standing.

    Options:

-Becomes invulnerable at night after escaping prison

    SPECIAL NOTES:

If a jailor jails a prisoner who is till under confinement, the prisoner cannot roleblock the jailor and escape (obviously since he was jailed in jail). All other roles, he can do so if targeted by a VISITOR (roles that do not physically visit targets like consig do not count).

A prisoner cannot be killed when under confined (assured protection by prison).

A prisoner CANNOT win if he is under confinement (i.e does not escape) the entire game.

A prisoner pretty much has night immunity until he escapes prison, however he can still be lynched before escaping prison and after.

If a prisoner does NOT kill, he assumes the role as town citizen and likewise must see town win to win. This prevents easy wins from just siding with mafia but not actually killing.

If he chooses to kill, he can only target 1 person a night.

Invest reports "Target is not suspicious, most likely citizen". Something along those lines but there won't be any doubt. Sheriff reports NS.

I prefer saves with pm because I can't really think of any decent reason why there shouldn't be pm's. Most games I play at least, don't take advantage of pm since it renders you "suspicious" and might get you lynched or searched following night. You draw to much attention to yourself and person talking to. The only time I felt the pm system was unbalanced is when a mayor revealed role day 2, had everyone pm his roles, and then from there was able to weed out the liars. The save was broken though cause mayor could be healed. Mayor should never be able to be healed. That option really shouldn't even exist. It makes mayor ridiculously OP.

    @griffinsclaw

Yeah, I've also been thinking about that too with day 1 rolequitters (rolequitters ruin the game and should be at the very least on kicklists). Nonetheless, I forgot to mention that suicide win only applies after the target has been successfully tortured for 1 night. If he suicides THE night he IS tortured, the inquisitioner doesn't win and must select a different target next night. Thus it's really a waste of time for inquistioner to pick a target that already left. And yes, a person can just suicide to guarantee an inquistioner a win after n2 (assuming the target isn't lynched or healed). However this would be purposeful gamethrowing, like skypers lynching a jester and would be very muched treated the same way (ban-list).

    ►►Another gaspiden Role Idea: Inquisitioner◄◄

Inquisitioner: A devout religious fundamental who takes pleasure in the torture of his victims, who he deems as against his beliefs.

    Alignment: Neutral/Advanced

Special Abilities: An Inquisitioner has the option of targeting one person at night and torturing them that night. The objective of the Inquistioner is too successfully torture his victim for 3 nights IN A ROW so that on the third night of successful torture, his victim's body will fail to withstand any more of the cruel proceedings and die as a result. A message will display to victims: "You been trialed and found guilty of heresy by an elite religious institution! The inquisition has come!". It will also display at end of night "Victim suffered severe mental strain and physical exhaustion. Death awaits". Once the victim is dead, the Inquistioner would have completed his role (thus winning essentially) but will lose all abilities for the rest of the game, including night immunity.

Goal: To successfully cause a slow, excruciating painful, and agonizing death for his victim (I.e torture victim for 3 nights til death).

    Options:

    -Inquistioner is invulnerable at night
-Inquistioner tortured victims can still be killed at night
-Victim is not notified that he has been tortured

POSSIBLE QUESTIONS (very important you read these before commenting)

What do you mean by "successful torture", what can anyone do to STOP an inquistioner from torturing his victims besides lynching (since he's invulnerable at night)?

A tortured victim can still be healed or protected by a bodyguard. In the case that a doctor heals the target, all the torture will be reduced back to 0 (I.e if inquistioner was on night 3 of torturing his victim, but his victim was healed. Inquistioner's target will be set back to 0. So that's as if no tortures ever occurred).

Can Inquistioner switch targets? And if so, do his tortures stack?

An inquistioner can choose to switch targets but if he does, the victim he previously tortured is cleared of all tortures (I.e if he tortured a victim for 2 nights, decides to torture someone else another night, but then goes back to the victim 4 night it would act as the first attempt of torture made. In otherwords, previous victim wouldn't die).

An inquistioner seems impossible to win as. What are the chances that you will be able to torture the person 3 nights in A ROW (how bout if target was lynched or killed?).

An inquistioner's target cannot be killed at night when under torture. Otherwise, it would be almost impossible for inquisitioner to win (victim would die before he would be able to kill). If the target is lynched however, the only thing inquistioner can do is pick a different victim and start over.

If the inquistioner chooses not to torture one night. Are the tortures on the victim reset to 0?

NO. If he chooses not to torture anyone one night, his previous target will still have 2 tortures (unless target was attacked and healed that night).

What happens once Inquistioner has won?

Well like executioner, he pretty much just can remain indifferent. Once his victim dies, the inquistioner loses all abilities including night immunity.

Why should Inquistioner get night immunity?

I put this option and think it should be checked, just when you consider the time frame that inquistioner needs. I mean he needs to torture a target successfully for 3 NIGHTS and that's if his target isn't A. lynched B. healed. So to give inquistioner a chance, he shouldn't be able to die at night.

What happens if his tortured victim suicides?

If his target suicides, then Inquistioner wins by default. It basically implies that his torture was sufficient enough for the victim to take their own life (I.e player knew he was gonna die after 2 tortures, so decides to suicide).

    Why 3 nights?

A fair number, 2 is too few, 4 is too many.

Can inquistioner kill a target with night immunity?

Regardless whether he chose an sk or gf. His victim will die after 3 nights of torture.

How about it he targets vet or a bg protecting someone?

He will die like any other role if vet has alert or bg protect.

    @maccabbe

I still don't see roleblock being overpowered. For example, if town chooses to RB someone, then what's the big deal? Unless you're referring to late game where let's say there's a gf, a witch, a mayor and a doctor. If the hustler sides with doctor, they can rb gf. Or if he sides with gf, they can rb doc. And remember, if he can roleblock he can't kill. I still don't see mafia having a major inherent advantage, as it works both ways, especially late game. Also, clients can still kill hustler so long as they didn't make a deal with him that specific night. Really if they wanted to, the client could choose to DENY the deal and then target the hustler to be killed, since they do not need his services any longer. For example, mafia could do that if they're afraid that hustler would side with town. Likewise, town could do that with vig. Also, I think you believe that hustler would basically become immune since pretty much every night he will gain night immunity by making deals. Yes, but hustler can still be lynched! If town knows there's a hustler working for evil, they can get him lynched. Remember, a balanced save should include 3 maf, hustler, and maybe 1 more basic neut. The rest should be town. And yeah hustler can confirm his role, but by doing so he's actually putting himself greatly at risk it town decides he's too risky, denies deal, and has him killed or lynched, same goes with maf. Unlike survivor, hustler can dramatically influence the game, so some player might not be so inclined to keeping him alive for so long if he reveals role.

Another question that hasn't been asked: Can hustler be converted to cultist? Yes, under the scenario that he DOES NOT have night immunity.

Poll: ►►Re: Role Ideas: Interrogator, buff for Masons, and Hustler.◄◄

    @maccabbe

Someone would refuse a hustler's offer mostly based on the fact that perhaps a town basic role (cit for example) has no idea who maf or evil roles are, and decides he doesn't want to risk it until a lead pops up. This is of course common sense. Also remember that if a target accepts a hustler's deal, and if he/she by chance targets the hustler himself (in otherwords, hustler is sent to go kill himself), he/she suicides the following night (hustler doesn't die because of night immunity). This adds some resilience to accepting the deal so quickly. Furthermore, I see your reasoning of hustler switching targets but remember, there is the game-option that makes it impossible for hustler to make a deal with the same person twice. This is to prevent the exact scenario you described from happening. Also, considering that the majority of the people are TOWN, the hustler has the highest chance of picking a town role (at least early game). So it really can be more advantageous for town. Plus Hustler has to be smart as well and is dependent on others for his survival. If hustler lets say continuously deals with evil roles, they might have him target a bg or vet. In which case hustler dies. So there is definitely a bit of metagame involved. But at the end, like an amnesiac or survivor, it's really up to hustler whether he wants town or mafia to win. It can work equally well but I would say that the safer route would be going with town so as to avoid targeting vet/bg. Furthermore, hustler has greater chance of being lynched than others (for example, vig tries killing hustler but fails cause of night immunity. Might get him lynched next day by claiming GF).

Poll: ►►Re: Role Ideas: Interrogator, buff for Masons, and Hustler.◄◄

I'm glad you like the idea of the role . As for the question, it depends on the game settings. A hustler can only do ONE of the following: Kill/heal/roleblock. He can't do all three. So for example, if the KILL option was chosen, then during the game the hustler will only be able to make deals to KILL people. If all three options were at his disposal, then he could easily become extremely op. To add to that, No, the client or target is not notified who the hustler is. He would just be lynched too easily if that was the case. Yes I can see where you're coming from with the mafia part. However, remember that the hustler is an advanced neutral role. So if there's a hustler, a balanced save should not include any other advanced neutral role, especially evil roles that involve killing (SK). So in the end, the number of deaths are the same. Think of it this way: 3 maf and an sk. Either way, 2 town or neuts are bound to die. The hustler simply replaces the sk's killing role. And also the advantages for town and maf are identical. For example a sheriff doesnt want to reveal role but knows who mafia is, he can strike a deal with hustler to have his target killed for town. Another example, a mafia member thinks a person is vet, so they do deal with hustler to take care of him rather themselves. Another example, town right now has minority, the rest are mafia and neuts. Town can use hustler to have a maf/neut killed to even out odds. Healing: a citizen knows who sheriff is but there's no docs left. Citizens accepts deal with hustler to have sheriff healed. Mafia doesn't want to lose mafioso, so they have hustler heal him (I might take away healing, I'm seeing the flaws in this). Role block: Pretty straight forward, town can roleblock a consig or disguiser, or maf can roleblock a jailor or invest. Also when you take in to factor that hustlers can also make deals with neutrals like SKs, and witches. The possibilities truly become endless. I think I might take away heal though as an option, as mafia will be op being able to heal themselves. But remember It's not like clients get night invulnerability. The natural game mechanics should make it so everyone has a relatively equal chance. At least hustler unlike sk or arson, can benefit either side.

Poll: ►►Re: Role Ideas: Interrogator, buff for Masons, and Hustler.◄◄

Yes, that and the interrogator can CHOOSE to render his target night invulnerable at night, and likewise CHOOSE to roleblock the target (this last option can be turned on or off). By default, jailors can't choose, they automatically roleblock/render a person invulnerable at night. This can prove to be helpful as when interrogating suspects, you won't have to roleblock them (I.e sheriff can still search target, escort can still roleblock, etc) and can also choose to make them immune at night (Protecting mayor for example). This of course should be limited in options so it won't be OP.

I'll admit, it is very similar to jailor but I think the variations can merit its own role. It would be hard integrating this to the already existing jailor and would also make the jailor op.

And really, if you think the interrogator and jailor are the same, you can switch the interrogator to a maf role. Works either way.

Poll: ►►Re: Role Ideas: Interrogator, buff for Masons, and Hustler.◄◄

    @Raptorblaze

    I disagree.

The interrogator is probably at the same level of power with jailor when you compare their abilities, it's definitely not "just a more powerful version of the jailor". First off, if you take a look at the jailor, it's surprising he isn't op. The jailor can roleblock, give night immunity, and jail his targets (talk to them at night). That's like 3 roles into one. So even though the interrogator is similar to the jailor, it's not necessarily a bad thing (look at invest/detect, consort/escort). Besides interrogator can't execute and can't role block (unless option is given). He can just choose whether he wants to give his target night invulnerability (this can be used to protect sheriffs, mayors) in which there is a cap and interrogate his suspects every night.

As for the hustler, again I disagree. The hustler is much different than a survivor because the sheer amount of potential he has to change the game. If anything, he's like a hired hitman (or roleblocker/doctor), something the game hasn't seen anything alike. Plus, the hustler is balanced because of the fact that he needs to do deals to gain night invulnerability, not just use "vests". It's definitely at the very least more interesting rather than just claiming survivor day 1 and remaining indifferent the rest of the game. Furthermore survivor can only help with votes, nothing more. A hustler has more versatility. The hustler as well can still be killed at night if no deal is implaced (or if his client by chance targets himself) or lynched. The client suicides ensures that the hustler has a fair chance in winning. I know my suggestions are far from perfect, however I don't think they're unfeasible.
  40. ►►Role Ideas: Attorney, Devil's Advocate, Savior, Demolisher, and Capo-Regime◄◄

To continue my post before, I have a few more role ideas that I think might be worthwhile.

Attorney: A just advocate seeking the innocence of his clients in due process.

    Alignment: Town/Basic

Special Abilities:An attorney can select one target a night: The chosen target becomes immune to be lynched the following day (i.e he still goes on trial, however, regardless of the amount of guilty votes, the target is set free). It is in the best interest to avoid lynching targets picked by the attorney, as it in turn wastes valuable day time.

Goal: To lynch every criminal and evil doer.

    Options:

    Attorney can reveal role
Attorney is limited to defending 3 targets
Attorney is limited to defending 2 targets
Attorney is limited to defending 1 target
Attorney can cancel defending target BEFORE trial during day

I think this role will definitely add versatility to the game but can both help the town or lead to its demise (I.e if the attorney defends someone who is actually mafia).

Devil's Advocate: A bribed, corrupt, and unjust criminal defense lawyer that seeks to manipulate the justice system for the benefit of his clients.

    Alignment: Neutral/Evil/Basic

    Special Abilities:Same as Attorney's.

Goal: To live long enough to humiliate the justice system and see the town crumble. In otherwords, In order for a devil's advocate to win he MUST protect a mafia or evil role from being lynched and survive to see town lose.

    Options:

-Only needs to see town lose to win.
    -Cannot defend town
    -Limited to 3 defenses
    -Limited to 2 defenses
    -Limited to 1 defense

Savior: A courageously noble law-abiding citizen that protects the wrongly accused from death-row.

    Alignment: Town/Basic

Special Abilities: A savior is pretty much a citizen with a slight and more respectable variation. A savior can choose to replace an accused from death-row (I.e voted guilty by the people) and have himself lynched instead. This can be key to save the town power roles such as sheriff, jailor, vigilante from being wrongly lynched and thus perhaps save the town.

Goal: To lynch every criminal and evil doer.

    Options:

    -1 bulletproof vest
-Cannot be defended by an attorney or Devil's Advocate

Demolisher: A deranged rouge anarchist only wanting to cause mayhem and destruction through the use of explosives.

    Alignment: Evil/Advanced/Neutral

Special Abilities: A Demolisher can choose one target per night; He rigs up a concealed explosive near the target's bed that automatically triggers when someone approaches. As a result, any trespassers that visit the target that night trigger the explosive, and cause the death of the target and all the visitors. However, if the target is not visited, the mine will not be set off.

Goal: To be the last person standing.

    Options:

-Immune at night (I recommend that this is checked)
    -Cannot be saved from lawyers/attorneys
    -Ignores night invulnerability

Capo Regime: A high ranking made member of the mafia whose job is to recruit individuals to join the organisation.

    Alignment: Mafia/Advanced

Special Abilities: A Capo Regime can visit one person each night and offer them a lucrative position in the mafia. A Capo Regime is likewise able to speak to this person at night in which he can try to persuade and perhaps convince the selected person to join the mafia. Rules that apply: A Capo Regime can only recruit citizens, lookouts, survivors, and amnesiacs (i.e really basic town roles or really basic benign neutral roles). Neutrals have the OPTION of joining (A prompt will tell them: "A Mafia member has visited you at night! He has come to offer you a lucrative position with the mafia organisation" Besides the prompt will be the option to accept or deny). However town citizens/lookouts are automatically seized from the town and brought into the family. Once the person has joined the mafia, he is given a random BASIC mafia role.

    Options:

-Capo Regime replaces Godfather when Godfather dies
    -Limited to 3 recruits
    -Limited to 2 recruits
    -Limited to 1 recruit
(the max members of the mafia at any given time is 4, games typically start with 3 maf. It is highly unlikely that mafia will manage to recruit someone n1).
-Can only recruit every other night
-Can only recruit every two nights
-Can recruit any basic town and basic neutral role without question

Let me know what you think!

Poll: ►►Role Ideas: Interrogator, buff for Masons, and Hustler.◄◄

Interrogator: A stringent intimidating operative who interrogates suspects with the goal of attaining valuable information.

    Alignment: Town/Advanced.

Special Abilities: Similar to the traditional jailor, an interrogator can target and "interrogate" one suspect per night, and can likewise talk to said person at night. The key difference is that an interrogator can interrogate every single night (so long as he is alive) and is not limited by whether a lynch takes place during the day. HOWEVER, an interrogator cannot execute but HE does however have the option of keeping his target (his detainee) invulnerable that night. Also an interrogator can pretend to come across as a jailor in order to secrete the truth out of his victims.

Goal: To lynch every criminal and evil doer.

    Options:

    - Limited to 3 nights of invulnerability for his detainees
    - Limited to 2 nights of invulnerability for his detainees
    - Limited to 1 night of invulnerability for his detainees
    - Able to Role block detainee
    - 1 Role block
    - 2 Role blocks
    - 3 Role blocks
(Interrogator can either roleblock or give night immunity. Not both)

Hustler: A likable yet shady and manipulative buisnessman willing to negotiate on both sides of the fence (town or mafia), so long as he gets his end of the bargain.

    Alignment: Neutral/Advanced

Special Abilities: A very ambitious and unique role, but one that I think will truly make the game all the more interesting. A Hustler's objective is simple: Weasel your way enough by striking deals with mafia/town so you can guarantee yourself protection to the end (i.e survive to the end). A hustler can choose 1 target at night; the hustler OFFERS a deal to said target that he/she may choose to ACCEPT/DENY: A prompt will display on the side of the screen saying: "A hustler has approached you at night! He offers a deal: Choose a target that you want be killed/roleblocked (depending on game option chosen). In exchange, the hustler becomes invulernable at night". Up top will be 2 icons (1 saying accept, other saying deny) and of course the target icons beside the names. This person must decide before the timer runs out (if they don't choose an option, by default the deal is DENIED). Basically, it's a win win situation that offers the mafia/town a kill/roleblock and the hustler gets immunity during night. The options are truly endless if you think about them. And some might argue well "no one will strike a deal with hustler, or hustler won't ever strike deals" (read my reply to find out WHY they wouldn't take deals). Remember its in the best interest of BOTH to take the deal, plus the hustler doesn't KNOW who he targeted, only the client who chose the hit knows. The killing description is by default, same as mafia's (works better in clue version). But there's a catch: If a client(s) makes a deal with hustler but targets hustler by chance, the client suicides the following night (hustler doesn't die). Remember: Roles that overrule night immunity still apply (i.e vet and bgs can still kill hustler if he is sent to go kill them).

Goal: To survive to the end to see someone win.

    Options:

    - Hustler can make a deal to KILL
    - Hustler can make a deal to ROLEBLOCK
(only one of these two may be chosen).
    - If client targets Hustler, client dies following night
    - A Hustler cannot strike a deal with the same target more than once.
    - Hustler can reveal role to town
