Thread: Knave - Butler

  1. ISO #1

    Knave - Butler

    [Evil / Town] - [Power - Advanced]

    Knave
You are a stalker with an obsession towards a certain individual

    "Your target is a stalker"

"Your target is a Serial Killer"

    Butler
You are a loyal servant, given the task of protecting their master

    "Your target is strangely observant"
    "Not suspicious"

    Abilities
    [Passive] Random Target
At the end of the first night, a random player is chosen as your target. The target is chosen from a pool of living players, and the selection is permanent.
    • Knaves cannot be paired with the Mafia
    • Knaves will prioritize Citizens and Jesters
    • When the above are unavailable, Knaves will randomly choose Serial Killers, Arsonists, and all Town roles
    • Knaves are given their target's names, and role information. Depending on the settings, Knaves will remain anonymous
    • Knaves, like the Janitor, will increase the chances of spawning a Coroner
    • Butlers cannot be paired with Evil roles, Mafia members, Jesters, Executioners, and Amnesiacs
    • Butlers will prioritize Vigilantes, Mayors, Citizens and Veterans in the following order
    • When the above are unavailable, Butlers will randomly choose all Town roles
    • Butlers are given their target's roles, and vice-verse
    • Butlers will not spawn with Masons. However, Mason Leaders can spawn with Butlers

    [Passive] Stalker
[Knave] At night, you may speak to your target. Your target will hear your words, but everything they say will be ignored. Additionally, if your target is killed by any means, you will become a Jester.
    • [Y/N] Kill target when lynched
    • [Y/N] Can hear target at night
    • [Y/N] Invulnerable at night
    • When hearing is disabled, your target's text is translated as "Your target wants to say something"
    • When hearing is enabled, a Knave's identity is also revealed. When disabled, a Knave is shown as a "Stalker"
    • When hearing is enabled, a Knave's chance of pairing up with a Neutral is raised considerably
    • Knaves will not receive information about their target's movements or actions

    [Passive] Servant
[Butler] At night, you may converse with your target. If your target is attacked, you will swap places. Additionally, if your target is killed by any means, you will become a Citizen.
    • [Y/N] See target's actions
    • [Y/N] Can speak to target at night
    • [Y/N] Become a Citizen upon failure
    • Servant provides the Butler and their target with Cultist immunity
    • Servant's protection will not prevent Jailor kills
    • Servant's protection works similarly to a Bus Driver's switch. It will not protect your target from death
    • Servant's protection will not trigger when your target has immunity for the night
    • Servant's protection will not protect your target from a Veteran's alert
    • Servant's protection cannot be role-blocked
    • Jailors can jail, but not execute their own Butler
    • Servant's protection will still trigger if the Butler is jailed, but only if the Butler is paired with the same Jailor
    • Vigilantes cannot target their own Butlers, but can be witched into doing so

    [Active] Murder
[Knave] Forcefully kill your target at night and hide their body. Murder bypasses all immunities.
    • Murder will not trigger the Jester transformation. Using it will permanently bound you as a Knave
    • Murder's main purpose is to kill your target when the game nears an end, usually in a 2 versus 1 situation
    • Murder's secondary purpose is to extort your target into following your commands
    • Targets killed by Murder are killed with knives, similar to the Serial Killer

    [Active] Scapegoat
[Butler] Manually swap places with your target.
    • Scapegoat takes second priority over Servant's protection, meaning that it cannot be used to kill your target
    • However, Scapegoat can be used to survive if your target has immunity and you are attacked
    • Scapegoat's main purpose is to divert detection roles away from your target
    • Scapegoat cannot be used to prevent Jailor kills
    • Scapegoat will not activate if a Veteran chooses to Alert
    • Scapegoat can be role-blocked
    • Bus Drivers can switch their Butlers with other players in combination with Scapegoat to bypass a disabled "Target Self" option

    Victory Conditions

    Knave's Victory
To win, Knaves must survive the entire game. If a Knave and their target are the last survivors, the Knave will forcibly Murder them and steal the victory, assuming that their target isn't Neutral. Knaves win against the Mafia in a one versus one situation, but lose against Citizens. Additionally, Knaves will win with Serial Killers and Arsonists, but will not be given the Title Victory.

    • Knaves win by themselves
    • Knaves win with all Neutral roles except Cultists
    • Knaves lose with the Mafia
    • Knaves lose with the Town

    Butler's Victory
To win, Butler's must ensure the survival of their target. As a Town role, Butlers will also win with their faction, but will receive less points if their target is killed. If their team loses and their target survives, however, Butlers will receive full points, but not a win.
    • Butlers win with the Town
    • Butlers win the Non-Evil Neutral roles
    • Butlers lose with the Mafia
    • Butlers lose with Evil roles

    Notes

    • In rare cases, a Butler can pair with another Butler
    • In even rarer cases, a Knave can partner with a Knave
    • In the Evil scale, Knaves sit below the Serial Killer, but above the Witch
    • In a deck of playing cards, a Knave is also known as a Jack

    For Simpler People:

    Knave
Evil role. Gets a random target after day one. Can speak to target, but target can't speak back. Can use ability to forcibly murder target in order to silence them or to steal a win.

Abusive house-wives are Knaves. They beat their husbands up, and their husbands know that they're dangerous, but nobody believes the husbands, because they're husbands.

    Butler
Town role. Gets a random target after day one. Capable of talking with target at night, and can see all of target's actions. If target is attacked, then target is swapped with Butler. Can manually swap self with target in order to elude Detection roles.

Batman has a Butler, his name is Alfred. Alfred has a shotgun. Alfred is bad-ass.
