I wholly agree on this. However there are concerns that people might participate in multiple FMs and use out of game information to exploit upon within Forum Mafia here OR there. This is the reason we don't let people play in MFM at the same time as FM.
Ultimately it cannot be controlled externally however.

I was not aware of this. I thought we weren't allowed to participate in both for fear of lack of dedication of time for both, as some people end up choosing to allocate a majority of the time to one and disregard the other.
Ho hum. Sumi laments the lack of trust in this forum.
We've been explicitly told that it was for fear of lack of dedication to the main FM in the past.
If out of game information was the main issue, then chatting on skype and playing SC2Mafia with other FM players should have been disallowed as well, because a whole lot more info sharing/out of game discussion occurred through those channels and some of the mods of that other site always seemed to be right in the middle of that.
Honestly, this whole fiasco has nothing to do with the quality of FMs/hosts or whatever. It's just two groups of mods who can't stand each other trying to make themselves look better in the eyes of the rabble to win souls for their respective communities. I don't care who started it, it just has to stop and I approve of this thread.

Talking about the game in Skype/out of game has always been disallowed. However, the ability to control and enforce this is difficult. When I was moderating one of the COM chats during FMXI I had to step in to tell people to be quiet. Then we have this last game where claw and waaagh had some sort of system in place before the game even started? Or what? I don't know.
My opinion on multiple games has been dedication and involvement. SKYPE and out of game communication should always be untolerated. No out of game means of coordinating strategies and what not. Even meta things of "are you X" and "maybe" are not tolerable in my opinion.

The sc2mafia forums will not lose me. I'm still dedicated here regardless of my status elsewhere. You guys didn't care if I went elsewhere on the internet before this. Why should you care now?
There was no code in this last game between me and Claw. During the game we were accused of plotting to overthrow it in the day chat but that was simply not the truth. Cap knows I wasn't trying to destroy his game and specifically said after the fact that he didn't blame me for what transpired.
But hey, say whatever you want and then admit you don't know the facts. That's cool.
I don't deny it. I was given an invitation a few days ago. I don't see why they should deny it.
I don't deny this either. People just aren't as active on either game. Personally, I try to be as active as I can in both, but I can't say that for everyone.

You can't steal friends. Besides, I think most of the members are here because of SC2 Mafia. This somehow rules out spite?
I don't think we can accuse them of stealing members for economic reasons - advertisement revenue either. FM generates high traffic from few members?
If the handbag and shoe sellers are warned and punished...Note: This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts.
Thus making themselves look stupid. Worse still, their spat in legitimate threads derail the discussion.
Lol, I must say I can vouch that the concentration of highly intellectually competent is far more concentrated in the FM community than anywhere else I've seen, of course, due to the nature of the game. If nothing else, this whole rift between the veteran players has shown me that, naturally, there are still unnecessary arguments made here. Except it's by smarter people who have substance behind their arguments as well as far more acerbic comments rather than the annoying ad hominem you find in most gaming forums.
I, personally feel like many of the "veteran" players are very unwelcoming of new players, and many call new people who have half a brain smurfs. That is not the way to build lasting community; rather it prevents new people from joining and staying, and then the veterans are left to fight amongst themselves in ridiculous turf wars. I understand a lot of people have a long history and are good friends, but consider how un-welcoming the new forum feels to newcomers who might want to try to enter the community. It's very off-putting and a lot more unfriendly feeling than this one. I feel like the creation of another forum comprised of invited veterans is 100% passive aggressive, clique-y and high school.
Forum mafia has honestly been a little bit of a disappointment to me more than anything due to rude veteran players, the excessive amounts of trolls, and the drama.

Some one said it recently. This forum attracts those who use deceit and are very suspicious because it IS about mafia. I also argue that it would attract those sort of cliques because what is the mafia but one big organized clique? I agree it's not the way to run a community but it's what we have....
And who said you couldn't join playmaf?
Because I was not one of the selected veterans in the "in-clique" I was not sent an invitation to join. Makes me want to join that much less.... idk
Too busy to play too much forum mafia anyway.

Lol, unfortunately, that is a trial one must undergo. I can recall a similar entrance into this forum community (because I joined when this community was already well under way). I, too, was called a smurf (except I rather sucked, lol, so I was suspected of being a smurf of a troll). And I had even less credibility because I didn't even play SC2. I was referred onto this forum by a close friend. My first FM was miserable. But I managed to tank through it. Luckily, it was around the time Luna founded the concept of MFMs so I could adjust quickly. I'm not going to lie. I don't believe this community is built around beginner friendliness as far as FMs go. You have to WANT it, either by genuine hardcore interest in playing or for seeking recognition by the rest of the community, that is. MFMs have made entrance into this group considerably easier, but nevertheless, you are associated with depending on your wit. Tl;dr The FM community mainly consists of elitist pricks like me, and you must undergo several hazing/initiation ceremonies before you are accepted. Things like swallow a chainsaw whole or else I keel you. Philie is nicer. She'll just make you walk through a field of roses. With lots of thorns.![]()
