    TV License thingie

What's the actual point of this?

You buy a TV, then the store literally snitch you towards the local dominant TV Company which then once in a year send you a bill about the TV License. It's about just as expensive as the TV.

Why? Because it has the antena inside to broadcast TV Programs. Oh wait, it's extremely outdated.
All third party companies use their own special modems and decoders in order to broadcast programs without the use of that antena but satelite and cable.

It's pissing me off, that I have to physically lift my TV all the way to the company and then have the antena removed, costing about just as much as the sodding TV before I carry it all the way back just to dodge this tax.

Do your country have this bullshit "TV License"?

Oh, and there's this thing we call Inkasso. I think on english it's Debt Collection.

Remember The Sims? When you don't pay the bills? The laser beam guy invading your house and take all your good stuff?
That's not far from the truth lol.

Move this thread to serious discussion please! It is a great topic!
When we talked about pubs, we are talking about us.
When they talked about pubs, they exclude themselves.
They say only bad players want to modify citizens, and they do not satisfy bad players.
Are we bad players? We include bad players, but that is just a part of us.

In most third world countries you don't even pay for tv channels. You buy the tv, box, and a dish and you get every channel you could want. The networks make their money from advertisements. The idea of paying for tv channels is just as silly as paying this tax in my mind. Maybe cable companies can make the argument they need to upkeep lines but what the hell do satellite companies really do? And who gave them the right to sell internet when all it is is a public network. Sure bandwidth is rented on the satellite but the monster that exists is a pretty fucked off farce.

In the US, the cable companies charge you for the upkeep and manpower. Ads pay both the networks that the cable companies host as well as the cable companies themselves.
I also can drive up to Wendy's whenever I want to in a first world country. :P

Yup. Its weird that radio companies own their own satellites but TV companies dont. It could be a corporate play using multiple companies under a shell which makes huge sense financially but I won't really dig into that from my phone. All in all I am just offended at the amounts charged and I bet within 5 years the price of tv stations will be half of what they are now because of developments like Netflix and Red Box. Look at any popular tv providers profit margin vs total income. They are exploiting the market. Not covering expenses.

Whatever floats your boat, but I've found it's more secure (no viruses, messed up dls), can download pure HD files, no legal repercussions (yes those exist with torrent), more private (VPNs will not hide your ass as advertised). Honestly, it's like being part of an elite secret club.

    Re: TV License thingie

So there is this thing my friend does. All the channels are out there to be had. When you pay for them your box is given codes to decrypt them. These codes are changed once or twice a year.

What he does is he has a tv, dish and a box that can be updated with a flash drive. People post the codes on forums and he uses them. The guy has tens of thousands of channels. His biggest problem is blocking the ones he doesn't want. Most of them are every other language around the world but he has every channel and I do mean every channel.
When they update their codes he looses a few chunks of channels for a few weeks but the codes always get posted again. Might be worth getting into if you want free tv.

I am lazy so I just use letmewatchthis, ch131, and projectfreetv. They stream things like YouTube so you don't have to mess with downloading or weird media players or shitty password protected rar's.

Both of you, go look up what 'first world country' means, then come back and apologize for using terms without knowing their meaning.
