Germany was already a democracy around 1920 because of a revolution inside Germany itself. WWI may have been related, sure, but that had very little to do with America "spreading democracy." And Hitler's political party was elected through democratic vote.

I know they actually didn't win (they were 2nd several times) and used violence to get complete domination, but my point still stands that Hitler used democracy to get sufficient backing to do that in the first place.

hitler and his party used the bad constitution of the young republic to get more power. the people were pretty pissed because of WWI (which germany didn't cause) and because they had no jobs, money and all. that's why the democracy failed and became a dictatorship, because they thought the 'führer' could change this

the US + allies made it possible to form a new, better democracy by:
-defeating the nazis
-helping to get rid of the nazis and the nazi ideas (e.g. nuremburg trials)
-helping to set up the democracy
-helping to repair the country (sure they also needed our support against russia)

anyway, it was still mainly the achievement of the german people to set up such an awesome democratic state with such a great economy. that's why i think it worked only in germany
