Replacement for TS server

Hey guys,

I know Menu (and his TS server) are gone, yet we still have that broken ts link on the homepage. If you guys are interested in a free alternative to ts/vent/mumble, check out Dolby Axon. It's developed by Dolby and completely free:

I personally think it's better than any VOIP service currently out there (supports 50 people for free, zero lag, Dolby sound quality), and it was developed specifically for gamers. I get CPU usage between 0.0 and 0.2%.

Yeah, I had a similar experience. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised to see this thread.

Skype has so many drawbacks to ever work successfully for a site like this.

Skype:
-People have to Download it (skype)
-Channels are not properly advertised/a miniority of people on the site use it
-Lack of rules on skype/people saying what ever pleases them (even if breaks the rules)
-Excessive spamming
-Lack of activity and multiple chat rooms
-Does not work on all systems/linux version has so many bugs that should be fixed

"Lets just use IRC or some shit":
-Browser-based, so you don't have to download anything else
-More activity because its visible on the site
-More Admin/Mod control and less spamming and less rule breaking
-Increases site activity and makes only 1 official chat room
-Browser-based, cross-platform

There is no reason not to switch to this solution, other than the fact people aren't willing to change this system from skype.

Ok, that is one point I think your not understanding, an IRC/shoutbox is a browser based application you wouldn't have to download anything. I seriously doubt most people have skype, creed. It's ok to admit you don't want the change, but lets face it skype doesn't work for the majority of users on the site.

That is an opinion not fact. Here is an example of a site with a shoutbox. These do work and are not a waste like you say, because I can find them on hundreds of sites being actively used. The best part is they are integrated into the site so if a user is banned you won't get the annoying skype spam messages from him because his contact is cut off nor will you get the annoying messages complaining to unban him.

The best part is it can sit anywhere on the site, so its easier for the normal internet user.

I like Opera for its awesome IRC app.

IRC:
-There's bots and shit for auto-modding and other neat scripts
-Not resource or bandwidth intensive
-Easy to use
