Question Which religion should I choose?

I now have no religion so my question is which one should I pick?
    I need help to choose.

Is there some guide book online so where I can see the god and bad of each religion and gods i can choose?
And what I should do, what my duties are, and what I get in return? So I can pick correct religion for me.
Like does some god give money?

If any of you are religious, which did you choose? Also why?
How long u been on this religion? All time? 10 year, 1year, 1 month, 1 day? How long?

Do you choose based on what you think is most correct reality? Or do you just choose the same as your friend or someone else you know? Or family or neighbor?

That is my problem i was not told to think of a religion when i was small, so i forgot to pick one.
I know some who have their dad and mom pick for them when they are very small.

Should i pick religion on what is most correct or what i want to be correct what i want to be true?
Like i hear old people dont want to die. So they want religion that makes them dont die. So that is now true or?

Can I still pick older religion like nordic or egyptian religion or is that not cool anymore?
I once hear egyptian believed 100% sure it was correct so they sacrificed their daughter to gods sometimes! And many people believed. But not many more believe egyptian today right?

But actually i dont want that. I like a religion that last long. Which is the newest religion available?

Also have you changed religion before or how often do you change religion? Maybe I like to also change religion sometime like Madonna?
Maybe its much more work but I understand because she travels so much as pop star. its nice if you travel so if you are religion A and you travel to religion B country then you can change and try religion B so you can be with people and they like you. And change when there is cool religion party like christmas. Or is it not nice to change religion???

Last. I want a cool god. Like someone who is awesome and is active.
Like what if a girl is in trouble from some group of nasty men and is getting rape worse. I want a god that does not sleep all day long.

I want a god who heal cancer and sick people and help people survive being really sick would be cool.
Like a god who can heal like paladin in world of warcraft. Would be uber cool.
If I get sick I dont want to go to hospital, I want to go to church and be healed by my god so im good again really fast.

last again sry. but also some people are angry about what god to belive like they hate others because they dont belive in the same god. is there religion i can choose that has a god who can show himself so they know who is real god and stop all religion violence in the world. Just quickly show himself. I dont want god who hides like a pussy.

Uh this is so hard I hear there are thousands of religion, which should I have??? argh!

    Religion

    3. The body of persons adhering to a particular set of beliefs and practices: a world council of religions.

    4. The life or state of a monk, nun, etc.: to enter religion.

This is because there is no proof of any god(s) or goddess(es) ever existing. Sure, the Christians think they do with a 2000 year old book that could very likely be the work of an ancient prankster. Look at the world after all of the acclaimed stuff happened. Guess what? If God does exist, He has been doing absolutely nothing since the things in the Bible were written. Sure, there is Mary Baker Eddy, who supposedly woke up in a hospital claiming to have talked with God. Yet, she most likely dreamed of Him because she was all dinged up from what had happened.

The basic gist: No religion has any solid evidence that what they say is true.

And to Broderson Modannah joined Kabbalah which is a set of ideas much like confusionism. (It is really a tax shelter)

In all seriousness I say join Mormonism if you are serious, they are the happiest people and are very polite and successful in life.

Edit: Do you guys understand this is serious disc and you are going off topic when his question is which religion but you are trolling by saying god doesn't exist. I personally don't belive in god but I think that the bible and other books like it have good morals behind their fictional stories and it is a good thing to live by because it can make you a better person.

Re: Which religion should I choose?

You seem to believe that whichever God and religion you select it is going to matter. That is pretty much not the case.

I was raised up Methodist, and still associate with the church quite a lot. My dad was raised Baptist and basically hated that. I know atheists and Muslims, jews and buddhists, and I hate to break it to you, but no gods or versions of the same god (depending on who you ask) are going to come down and show themselves. They won't cure cancer, they won't stop the wars or give you money. This isn't Rome Total War, and switching to worship Nike won't be the determining factor of how strong your troops are.

That said, there are 2 stand-alone reasons to follow religion.
1: You are a drone and listen to everything everyone tells you. You likely also hate most people (from personal experience). You might tattoo yourself with a verse condemning homosexuality, when there are other verses condemning tattoos.
2: You happen to stumble into a community that you find comforting and helpful. You walk in and the people there love you regardless of who you are or what you do because they have decided to be a place that accepts people.

I am the second, and it is the only reason I do not consider myself as Athiest, basically because Athiests (in my personal experience) tend to gather to feel better than others and hate on people they deem inferior- very much how some religions are shown to be. It is not all people, but a large enough amount to be of note.

Anyway, I would suggest Judaism. Not for the religion, but for the community. All holidays center around a final coming together and a large feast in which people gather for no reason other than to be together, there is frequent wine to be had (wine that isn't somehow blood), and in most instances of my own personal experience Jews tend to not really care what religion you are, and find no reason to force themselves on others.

You can't miss, as long as you remain focused that it is about community, not about supremacy, and never become a bully to those that choose other paths.

@Slaol This is just about exactly how I feel. I personally don't belive in the religous aspect of religon but I belive in the morals and communion that it brings a long. I don't like to consider myself an Athiest because the only thing that Athiests belive in is that they are right and they don't usually have the moral/actual communion portion that comes along with some of the better oraganised religions.

Re: Which religion should I choose?

I am Atheist. And you see, that makes me frown upon all religions. Because yes, there is no shortage of dimwits joining their ranks. However, I do feel that it is good that there are religions because not only do they tend to have good morals, but connect people together and give people one thing that everyone needs - hope. There is still a downside though, with people fighting, raping, and discriminating against people of a different religion. Just look at the Taliban, the Bosnian War, and World War II. These were mostly caused by religious differences. That is why I choose to remain Atheist.

I am simply disproving false evidence that a god exists using logic. God could be possible, but I believe that unless God is going on vacation, what the Bible states is untrue. I am simply saying that what Christians believe to be evidence has many errors and does not make sense anymore unless God takes vacations.

Christianity is not the only explanation for a god. If I were to propose that there was a god who created the universe, but remained apathetic towards its happenings and let the universe progress naturally, or maybe gave it a few nudges here and there, it would certainly be impossible to disprove. To deny an idea like this would make your beliefs faith-based since you are believing an absolute where there is only an uncertainty. To accept that an idea like this is possible would make you an agnostic, and thus not atheist.

Re: Which religion should I choose?

I believe in following evidence. There is no evidence of a divine being, nor evidence that such a being is necessary for the universe to exist (conjecture is not evidence, and neither are folk tales written thousands of years ago) so therefore I don't think a divine being exists. If new evidence is found, so be it. But this is where we are atm.

Also, to legacy's point, the Christian idea of god is ridiculous at its core, but then so are many other religions. The problem is that they use "faith" to justify ignoring detail or contradiction and thus make their own position less believable or convincing to an outside observer.

I should probably also state that lack of evidence disproving the existence of something is not evidence for the existence of something. That's a logical fallacy (and a common rebuttal to the lack of evidence argument)

Why does one need to have a religion to believe in god actually?

For instance: religion in itself is man made. It is a mere social agreement of a set of beliefs. That being said, religion then cannot exist without man. Then how come most belief that "no religion equals no god"?

On to next question, why do you feel the need to worship God?

Most people will give excuses such as family, fear of prosecution, fear of discrimination, hell, Ect. Most are simply sheep following the herd. Why do you?

I'll honestly share my religious views. I'm not atheist. In fact, I hate god.
I believe that most religions' gods are inherently evil. They demand worship and toil. Few even sacrifices. Just because they exist, why must they be worshiped? This is why I don't like most religions.

So he said to me anyone can say whatever but if someone makes a claim then it is up to them to give clue that it is correct.

Like if i say i can shoot lazer out my eyes or that i know 100% that there is a sea monster inside the moon that i pray to, then it is my mission to explain or show this is true and not made up in my head fantasy, and not others that have to find clues and evidence that im is wrong.

But he said everyone can believe whatever they want but its their own fault if others dont belive or trust them or say they are silly stupid.

I maybe have to agree this guy that its the guy who makes a claim that has the duty of convincing others that it is correct claim and not made up fantasy.

So I want religion that is true. but some have told me that all religion is equal true.

Many people use the "you can't disprove" excuse, but think of it this way.
If I told you there was a teapot floating between Jupiter and Saturn, and there isn't a telescope powerful enough to prove or disprove my theory of the teapot. You would instinctively think that the teapot fallacy is NOT true because most people will judge it to be plain ridiculous.
But then apply this logic to something that has been hammered into your head since you were a child at weekly gatherings at churches, while your parents also paticipated at your side.

    We already know the result.

Or teapot ejected from Earth's gravity and ended up drifting between Jupiter and Saturn.

You can say that they are lying or mad and you do not believe their story. But still you cannot disprove it with evidence.

Obscure and vague claims are very hard to disprove since they can mean anything. Indicate the exact trajectory of the teapot and I guarantee that you will get your answer.

    Hm...

    Got a point there.

The less proof that you have to back up your claim, the less likely it is to be true.

    That sounds better.

Anyway, even if there was a God to worship, what kind of religion would you fall into? Christianity? Islam? Judaism? Pegans? Etc.

All religions are false. Russel's teapot is what your friend was referencing. I'm technically an agnostic atheist, but I agree with this guy. "I ought to call myself an agnostic ; but,
for all practical purposes, I am an
atheist. I do not think the existence of the

If there is any clue that it is true, then why don't scientist not study that clues? If they can't study it, then it is not something that can be prove to be true, and all must respect that it is maybe not true and maybe only dream thinking?

Re: Which religion should I choose?

Hmm I just found out. Most people in the world have a religion. I mean more people have religion than people who dont have religion.

BUT only 1 religion can be the real true religion (since all religions got different opinion in what happen. some more different than others but all still different)!!

Biggest religion in the world is Christianity.

But majority of people in the world are NOT christian.
There are more people that are not christian (have other religion or no religion combined) than there are christians.

So majority of people in the world DONT think christianity is correct.
So majority of people in the world DONT think hindu is correct.
So majority of people in the world DONT think islam is correct.
So majority of people in the world DONT think buddhism is correct.
    so on and so on.

So each religion in the world has majority of people thinking it is not true!!

    --------------------

Also if there is 1000 many different religions in the world (from big to small religions, all religions), and only 1 can be true religion, then the other 999 religions are not true (dont know which one is the true religion).

But if 999 all other religions are not true, then why can the last 1 also not just be not true just as much as the other 999??
