    Is anybody else worried about the no-last-wills-mechanic?
    It’s ok. I’ve thought about it, and here’s how we’re going to deal with it:

    Roles are revealed upon death so we are all going to hypo (hypo = hypothetical claim) night actions as each town power role in the game every day. Since days are 48 hours long, any feedback claims if they are to be made should come in the first 24 hours of day, and all hypo claims should come in the last 24 hours of each day.

    List of all town power roles in the game:
    Sheriff
    Doctor
    Vigilante
    Escort
    Blacksmith
    Doctor
    Sheriff
    Jailor


    If a vigilante shot is made, role blocks are claimed, blacksmith materials are claimed to have been received, jailed people claim in the first 24 hours of day, you should insert that information into your hypo claim list.

    Here is an example of how to hypo:
    I’m sheriff, and last night I got an inno/guilty (choose one!) on _________.
    I’m jailor and I jailed ________ (insert name of the guy who was jailed).
    I’m escort who blocked __________ (insert name of the guy who claimed blocked).
    I’m vigilante and I shot _____________ (insert name of the guy who died to the vigi shot).
    I’m any other town power role and I visited __________.
    Basically hypos serve a dual purpose:
    1. If a town power role dies, we know what their previous night actions were and can access this information even though we do not have last wills.
    2. It locks scum into a corner if they decide to fake claim a power role at a later date, as they are forced to essentially construct their fake claim for the duration of the whole game.

    The benefits to the hypo strategy strongly outweigh the cons, and here is why:
    Con #1. People often don’t use hypo’s because scum can use false guilties or inno’s in sheriff results to narrow down their list of potential sheriffs.

    Rebuttal: With this strategy, the mafia will be able to narrow down a list of names as NOT sheriff, but then they may avoid hitting other unconfirmable PR’s like doctors, etc. We can also use the WIFOM involved in the night kills to our advantage to try to reverse-engineer who the mafia are. Lastly, the benefits to town of knowing PR night actions (since we do not have last wills) strongly outweighs the benefits to mafia of using hypo claims to hunt pr’s.

    As in, assuming I'm a paranoid sheriff,
    In the first 24 hours: Last night I investigated Cluscum and he is scum.
    In the last 24 hours: Tonight I will check Michigan J Frog.

    If not this, then what are you suggesting?

    Cluseau, it's best to wait until the last 24 hours of day before you make a hypo claim so that you can take into account any future "I was role blocked/jailed/etc" claims. For example, if Gandalf now claims roleblocked, scum will be inclined to think you are an escort. The point of a hypo is not to out all the town pr results to the mafia and make the pr really obvious based on poorly done hypo claims by town. The point is to allow pr's to hide and reveal their results in lieu of having last wills by having every single townie (including all citizens) claim every single pr role.

    First 24 hours of each day should be feedback claims:
    "I was role blocked"
    "I was jailed"
    "I was attacked/healed"

    Second 24 hours of each day should be hypo claims, incorporating information gained from the feedback claims:
    "Yayap claims jailed last night. I am the jailor who jailed Yayap."
    "Oops claims role blocked. I am the escort who role blocked oops."
    "Dark Revenant claims attacked/healed. I am the doctor who healed Dark Revenant."
    etc.
    and:
    "I am a sheriff who got an inno/guilty on _____"
    "I am any other town power role who used my action on _____"

    Does that make sense?
