Chapter 1: The days before being a keeper, The Council of Mages

It seems forever ago, the day I stumbled upon the game of Mafia. It happened by chance. Distressed from the loss of my previous gaming habits by the loss of Starcraft 1's popularity, I felt
I had nowhere to go. My days of being a sporting clan legend in Sc1 had come to a screeching hault. Starcraft 2 arrived and sports took a back seat. Where was I to turn to?


I searched around to find some games to play and accidentally stumbled into the game of Mafia, as if fate had some sort of pull on me. I -had- to play that game of Mafia. It was a strange
world to me, the world of complete and utter mind games. Gone were the days of reaching for higher clicks per second. I was in a new world. I felt like I could learn a new skill and blend
in with this new community.

March of 2011

Little did I know that this would become more than a game for me. It would become almost a lifestyle. I quickly dove into the world of Mafia and learned just about everything I could as
quickly as I could. I reached for what was then the top of the global high scores list. I could never reach that height, though, as I did not understand the reality of the situation.

Hackers ran rampant through the Mafia community.

Chapter 2: Becoming a Keeper

April 28th 2011

I had been playing for a while now. I was now aware that cheaters existed in the game of Mafia, and had found my way to the website of TheCouncilOfMages.com. My first report! The process
was strange, but I endured and completed my first report. My memory is kind of hazy as to when this happened..and there is no longer any proof or existence of such a report. The process
seemed to click. I enjoyed finding and catching cheaters.

June 2011

Fast-forward another month. My experience in the game of Mafia had now preceeded me. I became friends with a vast majority of the main community members. I was now in league with members
such as Goonswarm, Ambient, Elixir, Falsetruth, and many other memorable members. Most of the members came even later than my time on this site.

June 28th, 2011

The day I happened to change the world of Mafia. I popped into a game of Mafia, and decided to try something out. I typed in a few characters at the name decision screen and to my
excitement something truly awesome happened. The ability to colorize my name was a possibility. No one before me had attempted to do something like this. It just so happened that Goonswarm was around when this happened. The famous GoonRage happened and the staff forums exploded. How was fred hacking the game to colorize his in game name?
I decided to give up the charade and reveal what i was doing to the public, to save face.

On June 29th, 2011 I created a tutorial that would allow everyone to know of the method. Dark.Revenant hid the fact that anyone could do this and gave in, changing how the name system worked to give it a point value requirement. The game would not be spammed with colored names.

It was at this point that I decided I should continue helping the community in whatever ways that I could. As time went on, I continued playing like a robot. I continued to report every
rulebreaker that I came across.

October 2011

Some may consider this the golden age of Mafia. Others may consider this the worst of times. It all depended on which side of the fence that you stood on. The Warden was here to stay,
and reports were being processed at a much faster rate. There seemed to be no way for our community's cheaters to get past Ambient.
Ambient changed the way that the site worked, and the system that we now use today was put in place by him. A varying level of keepers and moderators was introduced. There were now forced
duties. The worst members of Mafia stood no chance. With Ambient, everything was stable and his regime kept the game alive.

November 25th, 2011

It was at this point that I garnered the attention of the current COM staff. Through sheer coincidence philie suggested that I become a keeper. Yayap helped pulled me into the moderation
team simply by stating that I should become a keeper. Dark.Revenant agreed and my legacy began.

The keeper process changed me. I was no longer just a great Mafia player. I had a purpose. Day after day I would come online and methodically plod through reports like some sort of crazed
robot. I decided that punishment was needed, and the game needed to stay clean. I took great pride in processing reports, and continued to do so for quite some time, never asking for any
sort of compensation nor any sort of acceptance.

Then the fateful day happened.

Chapter 3: Becoming a Moderator

Some day in 2012, records are not clear to me

Tasogare_Akira became an admin. The worst possible crime to ever happen in the game of Mafia to my understanding. His inability to control his rage reflected on the entire staff. Trolls
were outraged and began to run amok. The game was slowly deteriorating under Akira's leadership. The rebellion of the trolls would never stop.

There was one great event that occurred under Akira's leadership though. I became a moderator of a few forums on the site. This lead to many great things. My memories of the short-lived
days of Akira's leadership are hazy and shall remain that way.

Chapter 4: Becoming a SuperModerator

Sometime in 2013?

After the hasty takeover of Akira, Raptorblaze emerged as the new warden in town. A once cheater gone good was given the task of restoring balance to the world of Mafia. He knew both worlds well and began recreating a system of checks and balances. As lazy staff after lazy staff were replaced, Raptor eventually found his way up to the Admin ranks. It was at this point that Raptorblaze began truly reconstructing the staff.

I could go on a long story about everything that has happened from this era, but most of the people that are reading this post would already know exactly what has happened. To make the point short and sweet, Raptor created some "fake" ranks and applied them to a few staff. I became a fake supermoderator, and no one said anything otherwise. It was generally accepted that I was already a Supermoderator, so eventually it just became a reality and I was promoted.

One thing lead to another, and as the staff eventually started to fall down like pins, I started to help a struggling Warden. At this point the warden was CreedKingsX. He was going through some hard times, and I decided that I wanted to help out with his duties. Raptor allowed this to happen. Eventually Creed would succumb to his problems, and would need to take a long break from Mafia. I became a Warden in his place. From this point on, my duties started to fall back in my life. Life was catching up with me and I was having a hard time focusing on Mafia.

Chapter 5: Decline

Skip forward to late 2013/early 2014

I began to take on new and harder jobs in my life. Each one took a new toll on me, and it became harder and harder to continue my efforts. I would continue to stay at my rank, but in the meanwhile I knew that I had to bring in some new talent to lighten the load. Along came Mugy7, my soon to be replacement. In the same scenario as CreedKingsX, Mugy would take some of the work and help me out.

There would be some periods of time in which I would be able to come back and do some work, but it was never like the work of the former me. It took me quite some time to start to realize that I needed to step away.

March 2014

I no longer helped on the Sc2Mafia.com forums. My reign as Warden is pretty much over. I still would not relinquish my title formally, though. I was still checking the site daily, and watching everything that was going on. I wanted to see how my successor would fare in the fight for Mafia's life. I was not disappointed.

Current

This brings us to the present day. April 5th, 2014. I no longer feel the same connection to the game of Mafia that I once had at the beggining, as things have changed. I belong to the same group of former staff that have been gone for quite some time. I do not belong. I am merely a shell of my former self.

It's time for a change. Gone are the days in which my old ways will be successful. A new and inciteful team of moderation has arisen, and I hope that they can keep the game alive for quite some time to come.

Chapter 6: ???

I could go on and on about everything that has happened in the history of Sc2Mafia, but that is something that I will leave for everyone to find on their own. I merely wanted to give everyone a sliver of my thoughts as I progressed through time.
