Day 7: Runnin' Wild

"MORTARS, DUCK AND COVER!"

The NCR line scattered as explosions tore through their defensive line. The Brotherhood had brought up more firepower during the night, and the discipline of the NCR troopers disappeared amid the bombardment. Ranger Carlson tried to rally his forces and get guns back onto the firing line, because he knew what was coming next.

The bombardment finally ceased and smoke wafted over the battlefield. The NCR infantry tried to retake their positions, fatigued from the constant fighting. Marksmen perched in rock face signalled to Carlson.

"Sir, we have movement along the perimeter."

Troopers gripped their rifles, slicked with sweat and grime. Barrels wavered as the entrenched forces took aim, unable to pick out targets in the thick smoke. All was quiet for a single moment. One of the soldiers turned to Carlson.

"Have... have they gone?"

His head exploded as a withering salvo of small arms fire came out of the smoke. The advancing Brotherhood of Steel troopers fired from the hip as they charged. Carlson knew that this was a desperate act from a force that was running out of time. Unfortunately, he knew that the NCR situation was just as dire. As the soldiers around him staggered back, peppered with gunfire, he murmured a silent prayer and keyed his radio.

"Roxy this is Carlson. I hope you have the situation covered in there, because we're out of options. Lower the defences... we're coming in."

Klaxons blared throughout the Vault-Tec installation, waking the vault dwellers from their bunks.

"Emergency, everyone this is an emergency. Base defence system is going offline in three... two... one..."

Running into the courtyard, the vault dwellers saw the destruction heading up the valley towards them.

The NCR lines had completely broken, and the troopers were running full pelt up the valley path. Shots rang out around them, chasing them up the hill, only to be answered by half-hearted bursts returned by the fleeing soldiers. The power armoured Brotherhood forces clambered over the NCR trench line and continued their pursuit up into the valley. The first of the NCR troopers was nearing the courtyard, and this elicited a cheer from some of the vault dwellers as they saw his face crest the hill.

A rope-line suddenly appeared at the courtyard entrance. Another dropped down a few yards away, and then another.

Figures in menacing power armour abseiled down, their boots thudding onto the courtyard and bringing up clouds of dust.

"Fuck, run!"

Rawne led the way, leading the vault dwellers in a mad dash towards the Vault-Tec offices. The Enclave kill squads finished roping in from their vertibirds, and brought up their energy weapons. The first few NCR troopers to make it through the courtyard gates were vaporized. As their comrades turned to retreat from the Enclave fire, the sight of the Brotherhood of Steel soldiers coming up the valley behind them gave them a new-found courage.

NCR gunfire poured through the gates and cut down an Enclave operative. The rest retreated, following the path that the vault dwellers had taken mere moments ago. The NCR troopers that were left filed in through the courtyard gates and found some cover near a secondary office entrance. A ferocious short range firefight broke out as each faction tried to break through towards the Vault-Tec office buildings. Brotherhood troopers began to follow them into the courtyard as Enclave vertibirds swooped in to provide close air support and reinforce the kill teams on the ground.

"Holy crap folks! If you could see what I'm seeing out of my booth. Huh, I wonder what this button does? Emergency protocol Gamma?"

The base turrets all came online immediately.

And faced inwards.

The vault dwellers ran through the building. Vault-tech had spared no expense, it seemed, and the areas was massive. The whole structure seemed to be riddled with small offices, hatchways and inter-connecting corridors, and soon the vault dwellers had become split up and lost.

Gunfire echoed around the corridors.

"Roxy here, uh, you guys better watch out. Seems like the remaining Enclave, NCR and Brotherhood soldiers are all in there with you...

Vault dwellers, everyone regroup outside my control booth - there's a whole floor of offices here which can be sealed off. Hurry!"

The vault dwellers eventually all showed up, panting. As the last one in swung shut the metal hatchway and locked it, the others discovered more bloodshed inside.

Manning had been nailed up onto the wall, arms outstretched. His vital organs had all been ripped out of his chest.

Paul had been riddled with bullets and was slumped over a desk.

In another room, Jin was lying in a pool of blood. He had also been in a fight, and bullet holes riddled his body.

At the other end of the level, Nina was dead on the ground. A single bullet had pierced her skull, and the pistol lay on the floor beside her.

Wedge was found in the bathroom. Blood pooled out from one of the stalls, and a single shot pistol lay on the floor beside him.

The NCR, Enclave and Brotherhood of Steel are currently fighting for their lives in the levels below you. Unable to leave the confines of the offices, it is only a matter of time until they find you.

Your only hope is to secure the building with the automated turrets and unleash the security bots. The controls are in Roxy's booth, but require multiple people to activate due to the fail-safe. Roxy will only open the door once she thinks the area is safe. This will only happen when a faction can establish themselves as the winner.

Pending night deaths, town should finally try to lynch the devourer to eliminate a KPN. Orange mafia should want to help us with this because the devourerer has sided with the red mafia after jailing Wicket/Klaus/Rodgers on N2. Red mafia won’t care about lynching the devourer because he wins with them anyways and they have the numbers at this point. I was a little confused earlier, but I believe with less and less doubt that Paul has to be the devourer.

All I can say is that the KPN has skyrocketed, orange mafia should want to kill red mafia to have any chance of winning, because in a 5 v 2 end game it’s pretty obvious red mafia would win. Town will want to try to focus on lynching the Devourer and witch, two neutrals that can win with either mafia and have immense power to screw us over. Red mafia will want to try to kill off the town.

Gaunt is very likely red mafia since wants to wait to vote free lynch, probably b/c expects Beru to come on and contribute a lot and doesn’t want mafia buddy lynched. I believe Brady is town over Law, since he votes to lynch Wicket and wants to try to lynch the devourer. I really feel that Brady is town, especially since Yoshimitsu was not mafia. Yoshimitsu also suspected Law and Gaunt to be mafia and Francine to be scum.

Not sure if I believe Tarkin’s spy claim. If he was not mafia, I think mafia would have tried very hard to lynch him in vault for visiting the person who died. However I don’t know if orange mafia would be sophisticated enough to do so. I sense a Tarkin/Rawne connection when Rawne suddenly decides to pressure Tarkin D6, Tarkin claims, and then Rawne finds that acceptable and unvotes. My guess is Tarkin/Rawne last two oj mafia, making Luke and Wedge town.

On the very off chance that Tarkin is actually spy, then I believe Gaunt would be a framer.

Vader town b/c his student Biggs was killed for being not mafia aligned by the devourer.

Ok, Leia believes she was confused by Rodger's use of smilie faces and Klaus's speech with a German accent. Wicket, as many have said, is probably devourer after all. That is Leia's preliminary thought as she goes to sleep. A more thorough analysis will come later.

Remember, orange mafia wants the devourer dead as much as we do. He's been the red mafia's ally since N2 when he jailed their puppet. There is absolutely no reason why we can't lynch the devourer today. Win win for orange and town.

Looking at all the deaths, one thing really disturbs me. What killed Manning? This is the first time a crucifixion has occurred. I checked the thread with all the death descriptions on it, and could not figure out what it is.

Also, a gunsmith is obviously present. Whether it's the one appointed by my vault or not, it seems to have fallen into friendly hands, as Nina was shot by one.

First off, I would just like to say R.I.P Vault 37. I am the only one left. I grew up in that vault, and man, I'm going to miss it.

Monica - suspected of disguiser due to the change of capitalization.

Wicket - suspected of devourer due to the feeling I get from him. Call me dumb, but I just know he is the Devourer. The people he has chosen to eat are the people he would less likely target from our POV. It actually looks like people Klaus would choose.

Luke - Rode the coat tails of every lynch. Never gave information about anything. Only town role I would believe him to be would be Citizen. He does write a lot in his posts, so I don't think people actually see through it that well. I suspect him of being one of the Mafia factions.

Gaunt - States the obvious. Example of this on Day 5 is when he repeatedly stated that Brotherhood was screwed. If I had to guess what faction he resides in, It would be Enclave. Claimed Sheriff also says Gaunt is suspicious. Also rode coat tails most of the game.

Klaus - Tries to do tallies, fails.

Well it appears that Manning was telling the truth. Which would mean that Monica lied. Monica is most likely our disguiser. I think our Priority at the moment is wicket. Wicket or Klaus are our Devourer, so we need to decide which one of them is him.

For the Monica / Myself situation. We can obviously see now that Monica lied about Yoshis role. Manning flipped Bus Driver, so unless he lied about his choice (which would be very anti town) I see no reason to trust Monica. Also remember that Rodgers claimed that Monica was not suspicious. I think Leia was correct in saying that Rodgers is actually an Enclave puppet. What do you guys think of the possibility of Klaus/Rodgers being the Ventriloquist / Puppet and Wicket being the Devourer of Vault 66.
