    Role: Genetic Engineer (Previously Infestor)

    Note: The Infestor and the Genetic Engineer are the same roles but with different descriptions and background stories. Initially this role was called Infestor but since this might not suit the Mafia-theme so well I created the
    Genetic Engineer which is basically the same but might fit in better. Although I prefer the Infestor, this is something for DR to decide if he would eventually implement this role.


    Role name: Infestor
    Description: A devious being who've infested a helpless human and from within it execute its only primal instinct: To have its offspring come to life and to let the evolution continue.
    Alignment: Neutral / Advanced
    Abilities: At one point, and one point only, he can plant an egg inside another player. It takes a set amount of days for the egg to hatch.
    Win Condition: Live to see your offspring come to life! Both the Infestor and its victim has to survive until the egg hatches. If the victim dies before the egg has hatched the Infestor leaves its host and the player is turned into a Survivor with no bulletproof vests.
    Host Options: The amount of days it takes for the egg to hatch. 3, 4, 5 or 6 days. Higher amount of points the longer it takes to hatch.
    Pros: Can act town-aligned, like a sheriff or investigator who claims his victim not suspicious.
    Cons: Easily detectable, hard to win with.
    Overall effect on the metagame if implemented: Can turn the tides if you select your victim with care, but don't wait too long or the game will be over before the egg has hatched.
    Additional comments: Both you and your victim shows up as Infested to an investigator/consigliere, so the other players can never be sure who's a host and who's the real Infestor. This will also hide the victims real role to the investigator/consigliere. Your target retains all abilities and functions as normal until the egg hatches except if checked by investigator/consigliere. The Infestor only has to visit his target once and cannot change target after the egg has been planted. If the victim is targeted by a Doctor while the egg has yet not hatched, the Doctor will remove the egg. If so, the Infestor will be alerted and gains the ability to plant a new egg.



    Role name: Genetic Engineer
    Description: A lunatic scientist crazed with the ideas of creating the perfect being by introducing foreign DNA into helpless victims.
    Alignment: Neutral / Advanced
    Abilities: At one point, and one point only, he drugs a target at night, performing a horrible experiment on him or her. It takes a while for the foreign DNA to spread until the victim is completely corrupted.
    Win Condition: Live to see your creation spring to life! Both the Genetic Engineer and his victim has to survive until the victim has been corrupted by the DNA. If the victim dies before the experiment has finished the Genetic Engineer abandons all hope and turns into a Survivor with no bulletproof vests.
    Host Options: The amount of days it takes for the DNA to spread. 3, 4, 5 or 6 days. Higher amount of points the longer it takes to spread.
    Pros: Can act town-aligned, like a sheriff or investigator who claims his victim not suspicious.
    Cons: Easily detectable, hard to win with.

If the victim is targeted by a Doctor while the experiment has yet not been completed, the Doctor will remove the foreign DNA. If so, the Genetic Engineer will be alerted and gains the ability to conduct a new experiment.

    While looking at the name and briefly looking at the description you might think these are alike, but if you take a closer look you'll realize the metagame i.e. the way the character is played will differ alot.

    Role:Parasite Adv./Power/Evil

    Goal:Get 5 baby parasites in your group or outnumber the town and mafia.

    Alignment: Neutral

    Backstory:A parasite back in 1981 that devastated the town.But in 2001 it was gone.Now in 2011 it became stronger by a mad scientist,Egon Stetmann.

    Abilities:At night,choose a host to infect.In the day,the person cannot vote due to parasites eating his brain.The next night,the parasites kill the host and out come only 1 parasite due to immune system attack.If the host is killed during the night,the parasites will be killed to.Only the adult parasite can infect.If the adult dies,than the other parasites die to.

    Options:N/A
    This Parasite character simply collects targets and there's not much more about it. In my opinion, your Parasite is simply a delayed Serial Killer which wins after a set amount of kills. Your character creates lesser Parasites once a target has completed the infection but these lesser Parasites serves no purpose. The only similarity between your Parasite and Infestor is that they choose a target.

    Description: The Occultist is a regular citizen worshiping a strange, unknown god.
    Ability: The Occultist has a one-time use ability that lets him sacrifice himself to bring back to life any non-Occultist role that he chooses.
    The Occultist acts nowhere in the same way as the Infestor, while the Occultist is town-aligned and simply brings back a player of his or her choice at the cost of himself, the Infestor acts and is played in a completely different manner. In my opinion, the only role the Infestor is related to is some kind of inverted executioner.

    I really don't see the similarities to Cultist or your Parasite but feel free to point it out. Please read more than the character name next time r4ndomdude.

    I do think the name needs to be revised in order to fit more smoothly into the Mafia world. So, if i understand this correctly, its sort of like a Reverse Executioner, where instead of having to lynch your target, you have to protect him for a number of days? If so I think its a very good idea. If your target dies before the limit you should become a Jester too :P

    That's pretty much it, and after the set amount of days the target is killed automatically and the Infestor wins. But yeah, it probably need a different name because of the presumptions people make of the name and to fit in the Mafia world better. How about some kind of wacked-out Doctor (think Doctor Frankenstein) who illegally performs experiments on people in order to breed the perfect creature?

    Edit: To clarify, while this may look like a reverted executioner, I feel some things have to be pointed out.

    This character may choose his target, if he selects one in the start at random he might end up with what turns out to be a high-priority target. But if he chooses his target too late the amount of players gets fewer and fewer, hence the risk of his target getting killed next night increases. The game might also end before he has completed his goal.
    By choosing carefully he can assist either town or mafia in order to secretly achieve his own goal.
    I personally believe the metagame of this character would be even more interesting than the executioner's.

    I know you PM'ed me and I love that you think of my feedback as useful and good and personally asked me to review this. I find it is a good idea, but as posted somewhere else (I have no clue where) DR only plans on having 36 roles (as far as I remember) and they are getting real close so choosing a role to be added is a big descision. Maybe a few things might need to be changed because I'm not sure if I mentioned this in my past posts but the whole choose a target and wait to win thing is sort of easy. It can be hard because if he dies you get no chance, but it can go both ways. For all you know your target could be GF and he won't die until you finally take him. I feel there needs to be a chance of failure whether it be instant or upon completion of the infection. I think instant is better for it is less likely to fuck you over. The only problem is that I know DR HATES chance in a role, he told me himself. I would love to see this in the game but it is a challenge to get roles in seeing as there are very few spots to fill with roles that NEED to be good. Good luck with the entry, who knows what will happen. If anything I think the Granny or something similar needs to be added. I love that one XD.

    *EDIT* Disregard that last bit about teh Granny, I was reading around the forums and DR added the "Vetern" which is the granny basically. Sorry I haven't played in a couple days, been busy with my baseball and Steam games from their summer sale (FUCKING LOVE THAT THING).

    You've got some good points there, but you were aware that both the victim and the Infestor has be alive when the egg hatches in order for the Infestor to win right?
    But if that's still too easy I guess you could add the function that a Doctor will remove the egg if the victim is healed, so that the Infestor has to start over again.
