Jester Cheating?

My strategy for the Jester is to call the first investigative role that is called BS and to lynch them, the town lynches and sees Investigator, and lynches me.

I was wondering if that is cheating at all? Like Griefing maybe? idk....

Lawl. It's pretty much impossible to cheat / grief as Jester, unless you're using Skype or hacking.

Yeah, that'd definitely be bad territory to be in if you weren't Jester or Evil, but otherwise you were trying to get lynched, and that's the goal of the Jester, so you are well within your bounds.

If you want to know if something is cheating, ask yourself 2 questions:
Am I getting information that is unfair to the rest of the players?
and
Am I going against the Goal of my Role card?

Jester = grief immune and gamethrowing immune. its all a game to a jester. ofc you can lie and get town to lynch town and cause them to lose ^^ your objective is to get lynched. Take any means necessary (that excludes hacking and skyping)

Well with the existence of the -suicide command, DR seems to implicitly disagree with that assessment. The only positive use of -suicide is when you've been repeatedly blackmailed and want to get your information out to the town (and allowing all roles to do that solely for that single purpose, instead of simply modifying the Blackmailer, stretches believability), otherwise you're always hurting the chances of your faction to win, or assuring it as a solo role.

Unless DR has commented otherwise, it'd appear to be that he seems okay with people suiciding, so the mods should not act contradictory to what he wants.

I would be pretty surpirsed at a ruling like this. but there are completely reasonable reasons to suicide. Case in point, one public game i was GF and the escort discovered me. instead of lynching me the town kept me alive and just continuously RB me as they hunted down my team members without fear of being shot. at which point i -suicide to promote a consig. we later won that game, with the same consig that got promoted to GF.

So if the case is right, suicide is allright. however if you do it randomly to troll (ie only two mafia and one suicides for no reason) then i consider it game throwin

But Ash! The Jester will not be able to kill a guilty voter. And usually everyone make there moves during the night after a jester lynch.
i.e. Arson burns, GF/SK attacks big power roles

What he said is true. It is allowing a person to speak information without revealing who they are in-game. A Sheriff can be like this person is mafia, I am Sheriff, mafia has no way to kill the person. It is a no risk method of communication.

Except it is. You can't just pretend it's not there. People who are dead and snitch on things should be punished, but I see no problem with people lying in lag chat, as such claims should not be automatically accepted, and if they are, then the Town will learn a lesson to not trust lag chat at all in the future, even if a lag chat claim may be true, thus mitigating lag chat as a problem. You're going to want games that don't have mods to go over well, not just games with mods. I believe this method leads to better quality games even if a mod isn't present to police the players. Lag chat is also very difficult for players to make reports of, because people spam lag chat and it doesn't record itself to a log.

It's the difference between intimidating a child into acting correctly versus making them act properly even when not being watched.
