Welcome... to Vault 5.

I hope your stay was comfortable. For the last several years you have been staying underground in the vault. As far as underground bunkers go, Vault 5 is a paradise. You have had access to luxurious accommodation and a bountiful supply of food and drink.

You have also been subjected to the greatest enemy you have ever known: yourself.

For Vault 5 was filled only with compulsive gamblers, card sharks and risk takers. At first life was fun, the drink flowed and the dice rolled. Players began to amass fortunes and loaned money to others while life in the vault spun round and round like a roulette wheel, until one day the house of cards came tumbling down. As the reality of the wasteland horrors above began to sink in through the haze of booze and narcotics, dwellers in the vault began to get agitated. Cabin fever set in and there was no thrill in gambling with money any more; coin lost all meaning and soon other, more vulgar, types of currency became king.

It is the year 2021. Out of the dozens who entered, only eight remain. Killed in the name of sport or over petty feuds, many fell victim to the call of Vault 5. When word of the New California Republic filtered in over the Vault Radio Broadcast System you were all relieved, but the shocking revelation that there were traitors in your midst fired up your blood.

It was decided that, until the vault door was opened, matters would be dealt with the only way you knew how; chance.

The NCR, Enclave, and Brotherhood of Steel are currently en route to the Vault-Tec installation.

Vault 5 will open in three days, on the third night.

Vault 5 will consist of three day cycles with two night cycles. There will be no night-time kills - all weapons are secured via an automated control system, and sleeping quarters are securely locked.

During the first two days, instead of voting to lynch ONE player, you may instead vote for TWO players.

A gun with six chambers and one bullet will be provided, and the two players with the most votes will be forced to play a game of Russian Roulette. This game will take place at night. The participants will still have time to take a night action before the game (they are not role-blocked) but they will not be allowed to participate in any other night chats - they will have their own private night chat with each other.

On the third day, there will be a secret ballot vote. Each player will have two votes to cast, secretly, and these votes MUST be cast. At the end of the day three winners will be chosen, based on the three players who have the majority of votes (in the event of a tie, it will be randomized). On the third night these three players will be forced to play a game of Melon Roulette. The loser of Melon Roulette will be killed, whilst the winner will be able to select a one-use ability from a list. Note: Whoever dies in Melon Roulette will NOT appear in the surface graveyard - they died in the vault, and since no one is left in the vault their role won't be seen. They will be counted among the dead like the rest of the dead players.
