Preventing point loss and other questions

First question I have is most urgent With other ones I'm just curious^^

    1. I'm pretty sure that all points are stored locally on my current computer. If I'm gonna play Mafia on another computer on the same BNet account I'm just starting from the scratch and not going to lose my points on other computer, right? Or maybe server has some role in here and I'm risking my precious achievements?

    2. What happens when Escort and Consort block each other (beside having awesome sex)?

    3. What happens when 2 Jailors try to jail each other?

    4. How many votes you need at the start to repick the host?

    5. Does anybody has some cool resources about art of lying? Obviously I'm not interested with reading body language etc., but stuff you can use in game.

    6. Is this forum has no "quick question, quick answer" thread or am I just blind?;)

    Thx in advance!

    1. Not too sure. Maybe someone else can answer. If I had to guess, I'd say you would lose your points. The best I can offer is to copy your data and paste it in your account on your other computer.

    2. I think the Roleblock higher on name list gets to block the other one first. In my save, escorts and consorts are immune to role block. So there is no confusion...

    3. I think jailor higher on the name list get to jail the other first. Again, not too sure...pure assumption.

    4. Over 51 percent methinks.

    5. These will be learned best by playing alot...you can pick up on some good ways from there. My rookie suggestion is to KNOW and MASTER the roles listed in game. This is best done when there are random town. Whenever you are put on trial, try to claim an easy role like bodyguard or doc in which you don't need evidence to back up. If you choose something like spy, then you'll be asked to read a pm which you cannot do, or even mayor becuase you will be asked to reveal.

Also, know your counters for your role. If you are and arsonist and and invest says you have guess...your best repsonse is to claim bus driver since they have gas as well. Anything else will make you look guilty. If you are a Consort, claim escort. If you are a witch, claim survivor as these will match with the investigative roles. If you are caught by Sheriff, your basically screwed. If sheriff is not confirmed...say the sheriff is an EXE (executioner). If th sheriff is confirmed and proven...not much you can do but act looney and try to mimic a Jester.

Now if you are trying to spot a liar, you can check for a few things.

a.) Make sure that you have been paying attention to the game. If they claim one role on day two, but mysterious claim another day six...that is a sign.

b.) Spot obvious consigs. Consigs will tend to read what they found out loud in attempts for town to lynch. Best exmaple is a consig will say "Yellow has knives" when there is no sign of a SK in play or say "Green is an Sheriff or EXE" Executioners are not a threat so no need to out the sheriff. Now this isn't 100% fail proof. There are retarded Invest that will give up key roles. Just be aware of your roles list to see what roles are in play. If there is no serial killer, invest should not be calling out who the doc is.

c.) As mentioned above...if a proved invest says that "Blue has weapons" and blue response is he is a detective...that does not match and shows that he is lying. Easy find. (This may be hard to confirm if a witch is in the game or a bus driver.) Again, know your role list.

    d.) Know your role list!

    e.) See d.

f.) Pay special attention to the town roles. If the list has all townies listed as Sheriff, Invesigator, Doctor, Mayor, and Jailor with 3 random towns, and you see a Bodyguard, Detective, and Spy in the graveyard and the suspect claims they are a Bus Driver...then that is impossible considering all random town roles are accounted for (bodyguard/detective/spy). Only the remaining town roles defined can be called out. (Thus assuming there is no random any in play)

    6. Nope, you best shot is here. You posted in the right spot.

If you play a different computer, your points on your main computer will not be erased, once you go back to that computer, everything will be there.

    2. What happens when Escort and Consort block each other (beside having awesome sex)?

It depends on settings and order in the list of players.

    3. What happens when 2 Jailors try to jail each other?

Whoever puts in the command to jail first.

    4. How many votes you need at the start to repick the host?

    I think 8 or 10

    5. Does anybody has some cool resources about art of lying? Obviously I'm not interested with reading body language etc., but stuff you can use in game.

It is all about the meta-game. The art of lying and reading lies is constantly changing because utilizes a certain lie will becomes popular, like Godfather pretending to be Jester, then it becomes a matter of obviously he is Godfather because no actual Jester would do that now that it has become popular for Godfathers to do it.

Re: Preventing point loss and other questions

I'll have to agree with LeaD. Playing in public match usual fall into the same few categories when trying to figure out who is telling the truth and who is lying. Jailed Mafia roles usually call for the same few roles, unless they're smart enough to know their town counterpart, in which you'd have to keep a tab on everyone that you let go. Always make sure you know your role list and graveyard, it's the fastest way to out someone on lying. At the same time, there are some people that throw out traps, such as a vet claiming a power role and making everyone target him.

If you want to become good at bluffing your way to victory, you'll have to learn to balance your lies with true facts. Perhaps there is one random town left and you need an alibi to get through to the next night, if all the randoms haven't been claimed yet, you can usually get away with an extra day or two of lies while you settle everything. I've played a few games as an anonymous town role and only revealed when I truly needed to. Sometimes withholding information is better than telling all. It all depends on how well you can piece the puzzle together.

^i remember a game from a few days ago where i randomly claimed stuff in maf night chat and made 2 spies lynch like 3 townies + one of em themselves, whilst claiming that 2 out of 3 maf are inno ( i simply said damn you noobs voted guilty while i voted inno. Truth be told all 3 of us abstained D <- this was a jester lynch too). Next day in night chat i told the truth about our votes, causing even more confusion among the spies.
i trolled my way to victory, literally

When it comes to lying the best bet is to avoid meta game.
Whenever you see a trend stay away from it.

Also when you see something kool, like a really good move/play. Write it down, and add it to your playbook.

I have lots of great strats that I wrote down. So if I come into a game as an Exe I know a solid list of tactics I can use to get my obj done.

This isn't always true. Back when I used to play a lot, the meta in a public game solely was dependent on how you presented yourself between the starting day and the day after (as long as you weren't killed over that night). Trolls will be trolls and target players that stand out; the masses will follow them and quickly vote up the target. I, personally, would take control of the match at the start and act like one of the power roles in order to get the town to win, no matter my alignment.

I had a match where I rolled Arsonist and took my pace carefully. As the players continued to make crazy accusations and claims, the Mafia started picking them off one by one. I guess around the third day I spoke up and told everyone to get it together so we, being the town, could win. After learning the reports of who Investigator/Sheriff found, it made it easier to find out who was who. Over four of the nights, two of my douse targets were killed off by the Mafia, forcing me to light eventually as I would of been caught soon if I was still alive and everyone else died off. Turns out on the night before I decided to light, a second Arsonist ignited, who happened to be once of my douse targets. Besides the incredible amount of luck of two Arsonists in one match, it solidified my alibi that I was a town role. Easily allowing me to win the game without needing to do anything else but lynch.

Never doubt the power of what could be rolled. I've seen four random town roles become four citizens, I've also seen 3 SKs in one match, thanks to two random neutrals. Just make sure you're a step ahead and push the meta in your favor.

I tihnk you misunderstood what I was saying. I'm talking about being cautious of trends. Sometimes players have this flawed ratioanle if player A claims this he is lieing. The Meta game is unreliable. Stick to the numbers and you will win.
In non troll games I have a ~40% win rate.

The most important thing to do each game at the start is to check the in game rules by hovering over the role list.
See what combinations and abilities are out there and plan accordingly.

Yeah, I know what you meant, that's why I mentioned the last two sentences I wrote. Anything is possible, you just can't jump directly into believing what anyone says until your facts are as positive as you can get them. AFK players and trolls are the hardest to get around, so you can't really figure who is what if they're too busy claiming a different role each day.
