I feel like we need a better way to communicate in real-time. Would people be interested if we set up an IRC channel, and would you actually use it?

There is already a skype I believe? what is wrong with the Skype? personally, the only wait to go is Team Speak 3. there is already one for mafia but if you want your own you can install a 32 slots for free if you host it yourself. Mine is on an official provider 24/7, 32 slots cost some where around 2 or 3 $ a month

My problem with both Teamspeak and Skype is that they are too proprietary, and not designed for internet group chat. There are simply no third-party clients for either of them, meaning that you have no freedom. They are also very cubersome as chat programs, I find, especially for larger groups.

That's not my experience and some TS have up to 25 000 users at once. It is also the software that draws the less resources from your pc in order to maximize your gaming. Business even use it. It is also very versatile offering multiple options for users and groups, all the while insuring personalized security features. it's a great program. As I said I pay for this one and no one asked you to pay anything, it's there, up to you to use it or not. But as I also said, you can create your own TS for free up to 32 slots if you wish to be the main admin. I give admin rights to all of the Mafia moderator anyway.

and if need ever be, I said that I would increase the TS slots up to 500. So far, we have plenty of room with our little 32 slots
all and all, I dare you to find anything that will compare to TS3. The file upload and transfers are great and they have an endless supply of plugins. There are even skins for the major games such as, SC2, BF3 etc... maybe someone will make a mafia skin eventually

I still don't get why Teamspeak is so much better than IRC. All you've told me so far is how Teamspeak at least catches up to IRC, but nothing I see as an actual merit.

Nontheless, I'll set up an IRC channel later. Seems that most people want it.

not trying to convert anyone and Oups had his mind set on creating is thing. I'm sold to TS just like other are sold to the various other software out there

good point. We originally had removed all typing options but now anyone with at least a mafia level 1 is able to type

Skype is free and it works reasonably well, it can be moderated (GriM got kicked from it today by a voting majority lololo) also you can call people easily if you want to. I don't use irc daily so i'm biased since I use skype for other things and thus it is always on anyway.

This is mainly it. While I'm sure that TS does have plenty of benifits for non-donors, I just can't be bothered to go out and buy a mic. Typing is easier, and real-time chat sounds useful.

I have actually gave it a test past couple of days and it really does have a lot more options then what I thought it would have.

Also, the problem with Skype is that not everyone is involved with Skype. While you have the option to use Skype, not everybody does. So, if you prefer to use Skype, that's fine.

However, I'm sure some people don't even have a clue about it. You also have to be invited to the Skype. Only way for that to happen is get to know everybody.

A IRC is the best way to go. This way, EVERYBODY can talk on the same chat line. Hopefully, It gets implemented in the site soon.

Again, I've been waiting for something like this for quite some time.
