Special thanks to Kijiji for hosting the ad that I applied to. Had an interview on the 12th, and they gave me the "We'll call you between Tuesday and Thursday", and I of course, groaned in my mind.
They called me last Wednesday and asked if I could come in the next morning for training.
I am now a baker at Tim Horton's, which I've worked at before but always got handed the storefront position. Baker rocks because there's no customer service. It's already pre-frozen and made, so it's mostly just putting them in the oven.
Perks of this position:
-the uniform is better
-I can check my cellphone in my work area
-coffee and bagels are free
-ice machine
-4:30 to noon (rest of best part of day off, with a little sleep deprivation)
Burdens of this position:
-4:30 to noon (getting up at 3 A.M ffs)
-no cute female co-workers
-a freezer as cold as Hoth
Anyway, 11 months of inconsistent employment, and constant unemployment is over. I had my 2nd shift today, and I'd say I've half pwned the job requirements (quick learner). I had some anxiety for my 2nd shift because the first one was a lot to take in, but I realized: this is a challenge that I must rise to. There are millions of people that can be trained to learn a sequence of tasks and procedures, so I can too.
I get paid Friday. Friday, Friday, gonna get paid on Friday. I will be starting to take care of some loose ends, and treating myself to some of the finest weed from Bag End.
