Lag stops the game for everyone, AFK just puts one less person on the team (town/maf/neut)

    Re: Laggers punishable?

I don't agree that lagging should be punishable if it isn't intentional. If a person is intentionally ruining a game from lagging, yes punish them, otherwise they probably can't help it. I've run into issues where I lagged, but it was due to some weird internet glitches I was having. I didn't do it intentionally, but it happened. You need to think from their point of view. Also I do have a great quality internet service and computer so no, it wasn't due to that. Also I don't have that problem anymore.

    Re: Laggers punishable?

I disagree with lagging being punishable, for the reasons people have stated already. I'd like to add something:

It's kinda hard to prove someone is intentionally lagging unless the offender clearly says he will somewhere (the only purpose of such an act would be to lag cheat, which is already a punishable offense anyway).

Both are punishable. We are allowed to kick at our discretion.
I usually wait until something like 10 seconds take 2 minutes to progress. If I see a name flash on the screen, I instakick.

As for AFK people... People who AFK from start to finish are usually killed off early. If however we deem that people survive until, say, night 6, we are allowed to kill/kick them at our discretion. Not so much kick anymore, since we all now have modkill, but we CAN take action.

Sometimes pretending to be AFK is a tactic, some times the person isnt actually afk, but just silent. I know I've pulled that a few times

I personally usually mod message them and tell them to do something to show me they aren't AFK. Otherwise, they might imbalance the game. Rev has tried to put in AFK detection devices into the map previously, and they haven't worked well.

ALERT, EVERYONE! This is what Rogers and Bell are doing to the internet: making it shittier and making you pay more for it. In North America, most of us have seen the implementation of "usage-based billing" which caps your bandwidth to an unreasonably low level (making watching Netflix in Canada very LIMITED), and they overcharge for internet speed. I'm with another company, but Rogers and Bell have succeeded in lobbying the CRTC to make other internet companies rape their customers' wallets, BY LAW. Yes, in Canada, there is a law that says you must pay out the ass for decent internet. I have signed numerous petitions, but I'm afraid the only actual protest I'd want to engage in, is murdering politicians who allowed this to happen.

Anyway, that's my best argument as to why lag exists. It may not be the user's fault, but the fact that in the "internet age", internet use is highly regulated and PUNISHED!

Then again, maybe some motherfuckers should turn off their DOWNLOADS! I do that for people when playing Starcraft 2, they can show the same courtesy. Usually the excuse is "downloading porn".

Akira, I just tried making a report on an abusive lagger (Tanner), but it seems replays don't include LAG SESSIONS!

How do you report laggers, then?

Should they really be playing Mafia when they are knowingly ruining the game for 14 other people?

I think it should be punishable, but only if excessively lagging

    This is so true.
But if the game is running smoothly, then someone gets put on trial and suddenly,
    BAM
5 tons of lag hit, yeah I'm saying that could be reportable

If I notice an AFKer I'll prod him during game to try and see if he's awake, and if he has done nothing by the end or if his presence is going to obviously affect the course of the game I'll kick him before points are awarded. I'm sorry but if you aren't going to participate you don't deserve points.
