    Narcissistic Personality Disorder

So I'm studying psychiatry at the moment and I came across this disorder that is pretty interesting. Have a read:

Individuals with narcissistic personality disorder generally believe that the world revolves around them. This condition is characterized by a lack of ability to empathize with others and a desire to keep the focus on themselves at all times.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder involves arrogant behavior, a lack of empathy for other people, and a need for admiration-all of which must be consistently evident at work and in relationships. People who are narcissistic are frequently described as cocky, self-centered, manipulative, and demanding. Narcissists may concentrate on unlikely personal outcomes (e.g., fame) and may be convinced that they deserve special treatment. Related Personality Disorders: Antisocial, Borderline, Histrionic. Narcissism is a less extreme version of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Narcissism involves cockiness, manipulativeness, selfishness, power motives, and vanity-a love of mirrors. Related personality traits include: Psychopathy, Machiavellianism.

Narcissists tend to have high self-esteem. However, narcissism is not the same thing as self-esteem; people who have high self-esteem are often humble, whereas narcissists rarely are. It was once thought that narcissists have high self-esteem on the surface, but deep down they are insecure. However, the latest evidence indicates that narcissists are actually secure or grandiose at both levels. Onlookers may infer that insecurity is there because narcissists tend to be defensive when their self-esteem is threatened (e.g., being ridiculed); narcissists can be aggressive. The sometimes dangerous lifestyle may more generally reflect sensation-seeking or impulsivity (e.g., risky sex, bold financial decisions).

Narcissists also exhibit blaming behavior, whereby they attribute their problems to an external locus of control, or "out of their control". Narcissists will commonly attribute blame to others for their own short-comings and difficult circumstances.

Well aside from the fact that I am clearly a narcissist, I find these two statements odd.

If you're familiar with something called the Fundamental Attribution Error, it states that most people tend to overestimate the internal and underestimate the external when judging others. And that they do the opposite when judging themselves.

So is that characteristic really attached to just Narcissists?

In Narcissist, this trait is extremely overt, that is the difference. The reasoning behind it is because Narcissist absolutely will not have it that the world isn't about them. They have no flaw, in their mind. How you state is more of a societal thing, we want to look good to other, that is a very common attribute, but, like I said, it is extremely overt in Narcissist.

Yeah, I'm a full on narcissist too. I don't even really care because everyone deep down should only worry about themselves in most situations. Because of this idea that I have I question everything that happens and it makes me a pessimistic. A hero saved some from a burning building? He merely did it for fame and glory of being a hero.

Someone donates a bunch of money? Must be for tax reasons.
Help an old lady cross the street? Might be a game show where the lady is a millionaire.
A guy needs to change his tire? Help him so you get on TV.

It's always better to do good things and expect good things, but because of that mentality I can't believe that anyone in their right mind would sacrifice some part of them for someone else.

In a nutshell, Bruno Mars is a fucking retard.
