I've had plenty of games that became ruined because a player or players AFK. I've had invest's go afk, docs go afk, sheriffs go afk, even godfathers. They just join a game and leave for the points.

I believe these people should be punished. AFKing is not a "crime" but AFKers greatly effect the game. For example: At the end of the game it's 3 town vs 1 mafia and the town know exactly who the gf is. There's a problem though. One town is AFK and mafia win. Is this not similar to gamethrowing? These people aren't trying to win; therefore, it's gamethrowing?

As well, maybe they are faking AFK. If its cuz they are on the mafia and stuff, that sucks....

How will you distinguish the two? You can not. It is more rare for someone to actually be afk and spoil a game than them actually lurking.

I don't have to distinguish between the 2. The game can do that for the mods. All they have to do is keep the number of times someone clicks/talks. If this is less than oh, 1 per minute, then they are afk.

That's probably harder than you make i out to be.
Sometimes I dont talk the whole day...or vote. Day can be longer than a minute. But I am not afk.

1 click/talk per min doesn't mean u have to click or talk every minute. If the game lasts 20 minutes, you would have had to click.talk 20 times. This is just an arbitrary number. It could be .2 or something so you only have to click 4 times.

Don't most lurkers do some sort of night action, though? 1 action per minute seems harsh, but having something like, no activity for 10 minutes or more should just get you auto-killed or something.

Afterglow is a serial AFKer, so is Stargate. They just join and tab out for the points or something. Both were investigative roles in my last game :P

It's always so sad when you're town and you need that last townie to come back and vote up one of the mafia in a lynch-or-lose situation.

Conversely, it's such a great feeling ever when you're mafia, and you end up benefitting from the AFK townie :P

That's a bit harsh brother. But an afk clock should be set, and these people should be on the watch/kick vote list if they go afk while alive. As long as there is a visible timer that we can check I agree. And it shouldn't kill them, just say "BLANK player is afk" That way people can report them if it is a nuesence and if it happens say 10 times BAM watch list. 25 times BAM kick-vote.

Why not approve punishing AFKers but only if the mods here feel it was definitely strongly proven? For example, if there is a voting situation and someone is clearly not there to vote when it's like 3 town vs 1 mafia...that is conclusive evidence. Or a GF who is afk and so no one is dying...that is conclusive. Make it where only extreme examples that legitimately change the entire face of the game can be punishable.

When I'm Consig, I actually like it when the GF goes AFK. I can call him out, and I can get approved as designated Investigator. It's awesome stuff. Afterwards, I convert into the GF and whenever a Sheriff checks me, I can claim being framed.
