Greetings, and welcome aboard the Battlestar Galactica!
Humanity is a vast and prosperous race, spread out over twelve planets and allied under the government of the Twelve Colonies, with the planet 'Caprica' being the centre of culture and political power within the system.
Forty years ago, the Humans created the Cylons. An advanced machine race, the Cylons were supposed to be our servants. They rebelled, and plunged the Twelve Colonies into a bitter conflict. An armistice was eventually signed, and the machine race of walking robots left human space. The inherent distrust of computers and machines was soon lessened, as humanity began to grow lax in peacetime.
The Cylons, however, were not finished. They created human bodies for themselves; twelve models in all, hundreds of these Human lookalikes descended upon the Twelve Colonies and infiltrated every level of society. These children of humanity knew that their parents could not change their violent ways and therefore sought to launch a pre-emptive strike which would annihilate all of humanity in one fell swoop. One of the human models, a number Six, gained access to the Ministry of Defence mainframe via the seduction of Dr. Gaius Baltar (a scientific prodigy, a flamboyant and decadent man who was overseeing the update of the whole defence system).
This model number Six spread a Cylon virus through every line of code in the system. When the Cylons attacked they could neutralise all opposition at the flick of a switch; entire squadrons of fighters lost power before they could engage the Cylon fleet, and Cylon 'basestars' were left free to cleanse the entire system. Each of the Twelve Colonies suffered at the hands of the Cylons, dozens of nuclear detonations pounded every planet, and the Cylons quickly occupied their new territory.
All was not lost for Humanity, however. One of the twelve 'Battlestars' (super-heavy military cruisers) had survived the initial strike; the Battlestar Galactica. This particular Battlestar, under the command of Commander William Adama and Colonel Saul Tigh, had actually just been decommissioned by the military. An antique ship, a relic from the previous Cylon war, the Battlestar Galactica had no ship-wide computer network. By having no central mainframe and relying solely upon the work of the men and woman of the crew, this Battlestar was unaffected by the Cylon virus. The Cylon attack occurred during the decommissioning ceremony, where the ship would be turned into a museum and school. Attending the ceremony was Secretary for Education Laura Roslin, amongst other notable figures.
As the Battlestar Galactica prepared for war, Laura Roslin took command of the luxury space cruiser that she and many others had taken as transport to the Battlestar decommissioning ceremony. She began rounding up as many survivors of the attack as she could, and soon had a large convoy of civilian ships following her. When word came that the President of the Twelve Colonies and the rest of the Presidential Cabinet were dead, Laura Roslin was sworn in as President and her cruiser changed its identity to 'Colonial One'.
At their rendezvous at Ragnar Station (where the Battlestar Galactica had gone to re-arm and re-supply), the new President convinced Commander Adama that the war was already lost. The Battlestar Galactica, herding its civilian fleet of 50,000 survivors, began the long flight away from the Cylons and towards whatever future awaited them. Their plan; to find the legendary 'Thirteenth Colony', one of the founding tribes which didn't settle with the other twelve but headed out and settled on a far-away planet called 'Earth'.
On their heels are the Cylons; unbeknownst to Commander Adama, members of his crew are actually Cylons in disguise. Their intent is unknown; some do not know they are even Cylons.
There have also been disgruntled rumblings in the crew bays and mess halls... a tired and disillusioned crew is growing weary of their fate, of being the underdogs with no hope of promotion or advancement. A mutiny is afoot, and soon it will engulf the whole of Battlestar Galactica unless the Loyalists can bring the perpetrators to justice.

Here are some notable rules:
1) Each thread will start during the DAY.
2) Once the time limit is up, or a lynch has been hammered, the day will end. If a lynch is hammered while I am not present, the lynch will be locked but day chat may still continue. Once I post in the thread declaring the end of the day, you may not post in the thread anymore.
3) All night actions must be PM'd to me here, on Luna.
4) Obviously you may not talk about this game outside of the day/night threads, or outside of dead chat.
5) Anyone attempting to interfere with this game from the outside, or any griefing from the players, will be noted and your participance in future FM games will be unlikely.
6) If you have any questions, PM them to me directly. I will update the Q/A section in the FAQ thread on a regular basis, be sure to check there regularly.
Read this:
Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoy M-FMIII! For those of you that haven't seen this fantastic series, don't worry you won't need to know anything and there aren't any major spoilers. For those of you that have seen the series, you'll understand that I can't really do justice to the plot so we'll have to make do with a quick summary and just have our own thematic storyline
Everyone has their own RP name associated with their role. Under no circumstances must this RP name be revealed. You may not discuss your secondary objectives at all, except in night chat if you have it. Also note that the secondary objectives are not all of a similar balance; they are there for thematic style and a bit of fun, some of them are hard. A couple of you have also been told of another RP characters existence in the game, and possibly their role; this is intentional, but revealing this information is considered discussing your secondary objective and is completely forbidden. You may of course discuss the show and its characters, but please make no attempt to claim your RP character. It may be detrimental to you, and not all characters will have the role and alignment you might think they should have.
Quorum Elections:
Today, you may vote for your Quorum representatives! The Quorum is the presidential cabinet, democratically elected, and you may elect TWO candidates for this position. There is no limit that must be reached - the two candidates with the highest number of votes will be elected at the end of the day, any draws will be settled by random.org.
You may therefore vote twice today. One of your votes should be in bold and green, and the other should be in bold and in red. For example:
-vote Luna
-vote Chuck Norris
You must tally your votes in Cyan like this:
Vote Tally:
Luna (1) - Luna
Chuck Norris (1) - Luna
You may not vote for yourself, you may not vote for the same person twice.
The power of the Quorum members are as follows:
- The Quorum members may talk at night
- The Quorum members each have a voting power of 2, but this is only in effect if the Quorum members both vote to lynch the same person; this means that a total of 4 votes will be added to a lynch if both members vote
- If one Quorum member dies, the other retains their voting power of 2 and may use it on whoever he/she wishes

Questions:
As per normal, it is difficult for a host to remember to include everything. Please PM me any questions you may have and I will answer them anonymously in the Q/A section of my FAQ thread. For any grumbling about balance, well, I will not respond; I can't change things on the fly, but if there is a technical query I will respond.
Welcome, everyone, to Battlestar Galactica. So Say We All.
The Day will end around 1pm GMT, 24th December.
