Oh I'm not trying to prove anything to anyone. This is just standing my ground where I can.
There's like 20 roles in the game, try memorizing all of it word for word, attributes, win conditions, factions, special abilities.

You are wrong.
1) You are trying to prove us wrong by saying it is not cheating, standing your ground would be if we throw insults or something at you and you are defending yourself.
2) Like I said, majority of people don't have time to memorize role cards, and let's say you only know the doctor role card, IF there was another 100% claimed doc then that's where your plan fails. Also, you forgot the Goal.
Spoiler : Forum Mafia :
If you really want to use this strategic play to your advantage, just read the fake role card without them asking for you to read it.

See that wouldn't be necessary. The idea is that if you're going to lie about your role with a card, have an idea right from the start and begin the act right away, that way when you're confronted you already know what to read that'll back up your story. That's all part of it.
Ash:
1. Let's not argue semantics, the point got across.
2. In this case there'd still be multiple avenues. You could say you're actually a vet but no one would believe you if you read your card at this point so forget it. You could say "alright I'm SK/witch/whatever" and take the jester route. Or you could even just stick with the doc story without a backup, and hope people believe you.
Or, you could have a backup card to read. But the game never gets that complicated.

was editing. You read it wrong
Role-card reading is cheating, players shouldn't need to fake it in the first place.

DON'T FEED THE TROLLS!
Someone please lock this thread. There is no more debate. All points have been made. At this point, cygx is trolling for attention.
FM VI: Disciple - Shepherd(Lookout) | FM VIII: Glad Hand(Jailer) | FM IX: Anarchist | FM X: Mafioso | FM XIV: Vernius(Drug Dealer)
M-FM II: Doctor | M-FM IV: Doctor | M-FM V: Sheriff | M-FM XI: Godfather
Oh get over it. Locking a thread because of content you is incredibly immature and intolerant. Just ignore it.
Seriously, there's a block and hide button for a reason, use them to excess, don't push your preferences on us.
Successful derail is successful? I didn't even do it either!
It's not feeding a troll if he doesn't know that reading role-card is cheating.
Cygx, if everyone knew a role-card by memory, everyone will soon figure it's most likely a lie. So, no point. It is CHEATING.

Alright alright my minerals are exhausted... I can only say NO.
You're really bent on beating this thing down, aren't you? The majority of you have a unanimous idea that role card tactics are cheating. I don't agree. That's all there is to it....there's really no way around it. I've already explained why.
I never like people asking for role cards its cheating
I'm not up to the terminology, please enlighten me.
Is this literally about making people read lines from that window that's in the upper right corner of the screen? Or is it just about a jailor asking for a role.
The first seems like something only Dungeons and Dragons nerds living in their parents' basement would do. The second seems just fine.
I have nothing against dungeons or dragons.
It is about making people type out all the words from their role card. The idea is that, if they take too long, they're supposed to be lying. I've only seen it come up once in my games, thankfully.
