    Post Citizen Buff

Currently, the Citizen is one of the weakest classes in Mafia. Sure, you get extra points for surviving and a bullet-proof vest, but does that really matter once you're dead?

Unlike the other classes, the Citizen has no means of supporting the town or defending themselves after their vest has been used. Once they're defenseless, they become useless, useful only as vote-taking sheep until they're eventually slaughtered by the Mafia or the evil forces around the town.

My suggestion, is to give the Citizen a secondary ability, one that allows them to evade death without using their vests on the first day, which most players end up doing. In addition to the vest, what about "Luck"?

"Luck" isn't ran by chance, like its name implies, but rather by charges. When a Citizen is attacked at night, their luck will allow them to avoid death once without needing a vest. The only cons of this is that "Luck" can only be used once and then it hits a 7 day cool-down period to reset. During that time period, the Citizen gains access to their bullet-proof vest, which can be used once per game. However, Luck will only block one attack, meaning that dual attacks will kill the Citizen no matter what.

Giving the Citizen this ability would help differentiate them from Survivor, a role that's essentially a buffed Citizen. While some players may consider a passive life-saver to be overpowered, the Citizen needs a huge overhaul just to function correctly as a town role. Something bigger needs to happen.

Attacker: "Your target has evaded you"
    Attacked: "You avoided being killed"

Citizens are not nerfed Survivors. Citizens do not need to survive to win.

    Citizen acts as:

    1) Fodder
    2) Last man standing when tied with mafia
    3) Vocal townie who makes intelligent statements
    4) Mason candidates

    Re: Citizen Buff

All town roles are citizens during the day.

Except the mayor, but I'm trying to make a point here.

A Doctor may not successfully heal anyone (SumiDoc!), a Lookout may not find anything, a Jailor may never get the chance to jail. Hell, a Mayor is just a citizen with extra votes.

There is absolutely no point in buffing the citizen. If you feel the setup needs something 'more powerful'... put in a power role!

It's like saying that having milk with your cereal is boring, and you'd rather take out the milk and put in more cereal. The cereal already exists so you gain nothing, but you have now deprived everyone else of milk.

    Most desperate metaphor ever btw
Spoiler : Previous FM roles :
FM - VI: Commoner | VII: (Lionel) Gunner, Shinra Inc. | VIII: Investigator | X: (HerrZynisch) Black Wizard | (Graves) Citizen | XII: (Ser Jorah) Armoursmith | XIII: Host (Roxy)!
    M-FM- I: Host | II: Framer | III: Host | IV: Exe | V: Devil Dog | VI: Exe | VIII: DD
    S-FM - I: Jailor | II: Vigilante | V: Sheriff | CI: Paranoid Cop | Torment: Citizen

No offense bro, but the lack of citizens in most games are nerfing the mafia.

Investigators checking the GF (who is suppose to be immune to detection) are pinning them right away.

Citizen is one of my favorite roles in mafia because it demands that people think to resolve the mystery instead of "follow the power role".

    Re: Citizen Buff

citizens are a lot more useful and powerful then people might think. i like playing as survivor and citizen because of the vests and the power of word if used carefully can get alot done.

i have gotten mafia and serial killers lynched simply by using logic and having no real evidence, just explaining the situation to the town and letting them think for themselves over the points i brought up. oddly enough if people know your a citizen, they seem to listen to you a bit more. *Shrug* also many people use their vest on the very first night and leave themselves as sitting ducks after that; when there's so much more you can do with that vest if you play your cards right.

i played a game once where our defined setup's doctor and bodyguard where both dead. it was down to me (citizen), our sheriff and our jailor vs 2 random mafia (we lynched GF already) and a random nuet. me as a citizen i still had my vest left. so what i decided to do was come forward with "false evidence" of being the sheriff saying such and such is ns, and i checked this guy that already died ect* in an effort to attract the attention of the mafia to me, seeing as the doctor and BG where dead. so i vest and sure enough, the mafia attempted to kill me. during the following day i claimed i was jailed (to cover for my immunity that night) and how i had planned to check <random guy a> because i thought he was mafia. the following night i am attacked again and killed. but when day came the jailer had jailed and killed one of the mafia and the real sheriff found the remaining mafia. he was then lynched and we won the game.

because i played myself off to look important and drew the fire of the mafia off of the real power roles, giving them time do their job. its little things like that make citizens a powerful role if played right. most people just whine and complain about citizens because they are "boring" and don't have any flashy abilities.

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE CITIZEN SO MUCH WTFWTWFWTWFWTWFWTWTFWTFTWFTWFTWTFTWFTWTFTWFTWFTWTF T

l2play citizen, theres alot of things you can do.
    1. ACT LIKE A MEATSHIELD. you can do this a bunch of ways, your goal should be to die and stand up for town, TAKE A BULLET FOR A BRO!
    2. Survive until the end and hope to win the stalemate, pretty hard to do this. so i usually go for number 1.

Good way to play cit: when mafia is being accused and you are pretty sure of him being mafia, be vocal about getting him lynched. Mafia will most likely want to kill you than kill the accuser because doc will be on the accuser. Then use vest to survive. You have effectively saved another townie's life with your one vest. Continue being vocal to get mafia lynched. Also, always lie about your role, always.
