Why am I always sheriff?

Does the fact that I have a "lot" (as in more than average) points cause me to get sheriff? Because 3 of my last 4 games, I've gotten it -.-

Nah I don't think points affect it. Everyone has a role like that...I often get investigator 2 or 3 times in a row.

I think the general explanation is that random sequences of events often seem less random than one thinks they should be. If you flip a coin 100 times, you'll probably find a few relatively long sequences of straight heads or tails; many people often imagine they detect patterns in the results of a fair coinflip. So, really, getting one role in 3 of 4 games in a row isn't particularly surprising. I imagine if you kept track of what roles you get over a suitably long period of time you'd see that your distribution was more even than you thought.

(I guess the other explanation is that the map's randomization isn't very good, but I've been told before that's not the case.)

anyways, it is all random. there have been times where i have gone over 10 games not being mafia, then times where i seem to be nothing but mafia.

DR would deny this over and over, but try using diffrent names than the ones you normally do, also time your name submission to be around the 7th guy to submit. This is pure theory and is nothing concrete, heh, but from my own experience the name you choose and the order of choosing made a diffrence. There's no proof to this method, and everyone around here will say there is no grounds to believing it. Still, if you're tired of being sheriff all the time... Can't hurt trying?
