Everyone has 10 seconds to speak.

This could be an option, or make it compulsory. That way things are clearer and we feel as if our efforts in using our rationality are less wasted somehow.

I feel that in the game, there are players who speak too much unnecessarily (trolls or bored players, me included) and players who don't speak at all (too poor to attend English lessons or something).

If say there were 10 players, each player clockwise or randomly picked, players have allocated time to speak (10 seconds or more, dependant on setting or testing the optimal time).

After their typing, this will be recorded and at the end of the day, their statements will be stuck on the screen, for each player to analyse. Discussion, I think, is not as rewarding and fun as people might think. Too messy for a typing format.

Or alternatively, everyone can release a day statement simultaneously. And are given 30 seconds to write it (during Day). Then 30 seconds reading time. Maybe some discussion (minimal) and then the lynching can occur.

    Am I making sense?

Kind of like passing the conch (Lord of the Flies reference OH YEAH). It could streamline the game but there are 2 fatal flaws.

A lot of the Mafia logic game doesn't come from analyzing someone's random statement, it's based in reaction to things you've asked them. Like Poker, where you ask your opponent questions to try and get a tell. If someone claims Sheriff early during their simultaneous statement, will anyone be able to CC? The dialogue *is* an important part of the game, even in pubs. Without Discussion you might as well play the Mafia simulator.

Like you said, there's also some people that don't speak English brilliantly and require time to type and digest. They may not love the pace of discussion in some games, but they can at least type "Sorry english not good, i'm reading still" or something. A 10-second limit, or a time limit of any feasible time, would be very detrimental to them. Hell, I type fast but I don't think I'd be able to share all my analysis in 10 seconds or ask all the questions I want to.

    Yes, I understand.

But in any case, I still find the limited time speech would be more fun and more rewarding for those who want to play properly.

The dialogue is an important part of the game, but given the SCII medium it calls for a faster-paced input-output-response time.

    My opinion only.

Well it's an interesting idea, but the only feasible way to implement it would be to have it rolling on continuous basis. Everyone needs an opportunity to speak a few times at least. This can then ruin perfectly legitimate strategies (sometimes you need to stay under the radar, having the spotlight on your for 20 seconds isn't helpful).

I suppose I'm biased against this suggestion simply because I've never been in a situation where real-time chat has been a problem. I can have a chat with one person while a few other people have their own discussion and I can read through all the text and sort it out in my mind well enough.
