Need some assistance on players who are troll-kicking during setup

I would like to know if this is something reportable or not. A clan called Tafkal is kicking players during the setup phase. Because they have enough members, they are able to troll games and stop them from even being started. I have log proof of someone named AvB falsely accusing me of hacking (also others) and does the -kick command, and his Tafkal clan follows suit. They get me kicked, along with another one, a leave train ensues, and then they join the next room, rinse repeat. Ive been kicked 3 times in a row, and he is telling other players I am a hacker. I have proof of this. I have NEVER hacked this game, never. I am just the oppositte, I love this game, I wish it was not confined to starcraft. I am a business man and if I knew DarkRev, I would encourage him to get this into an Ipad APP and make some big cash off it. But that is another topic. For now, I am very disturbed that players troll the setup phase and make it difficult to play.

They (AvB and Thugnificent with other Tafkal clan members) have already stopped several games from starting. It is definitely a form of griefing but I'm not sure if its reportable or not, or if I should just ignore it and keep trying. I asked him not to do it again but he's done it 3 times in a row. Ive been unsuccessful in getting a game started for the last 15 minutes because of AvB and Thugnificent, members of Tafkal. So I'm just taking a break and I'll try again in a while.

Report them here by following these guidelines. Sounds like they are inciting leave trains and abusing the -kick function, and both are reportable offenses. Make sure to save and post all replays.

yeah i saw them doing this the other day as well. They kept spamming -kick votes against everyone. they didnt have enough people to outright kick but they made it so 1 vote from ANYONE else would result in a kick.

The simple solution here would be to calm down and play right. If you required your members to be upstanding players you would not have to worry about being kicked all over the place. When I unbanned you I told you it was a bad idea to keep on spamming the Tafkal message. I could draw plenty of rational parallels but the point is- If you look like a criminal people will treat you like one. And if you go out of your way to draw negative attention you should not expect sympathy for the treatment that comes with it.

Tafkal has never tolerated blatant hacking and necro-style gamethrowing. Tafkal is a religion of PEACE. In any case, Thugnificent was booted from the clan yesterday, and though I'm not familiar with AvB, he does not appear among our current members. If he was ever a member of our clan, he no longer is. It is hard for us to control every player's actions, owing to the clan's rapid growth. We apologize for nObama's bad experience.

I can't see anyone else's report, so I can't judge the severity of what my fellow clan members have done. As I've said, two of those people are no longer Tafkal members (if AvB ever was...). If those you've listed have committed severe crimes, then they will be removed from the clan. If it's something we deem fairly minor, they probably won't be. We're a big clan, and we can't control everybody, but we do our best.

The problem is that our clan seems to stir an irrational hatred in people that is not at all commensurate with any past mischief we've caused. We are universally condemned as skypers/cheaters/gamethrowers/hackers in game, and it's getting hard to play with all the times we get spam kicked from lobbies (in my experience the kicking is mostly done by Unforeseen, HarryDresden, and MrJazzHands). But these people never offer any proof, nor do they save their replays and file a report. They are content to slander and harass us in lobbies without any justification or proof of wrongdoing. Tafkal is a legit clan which has had bad luck with one or two bad seeds that have tarnished our name.

As for the report on me (which is two months old, by the way), I can't even believe that was worthy of mod notice, but whatever. What's done is done, and I won't appeal it, nor will I ever repeat the actions that got me reported. Is there some other report on me I should know about, though?

I think that reports should be public. I am convinced that these reports are unjustified but I can't really argue about it since only the moderators can see them. Maybe I should be promoted moderator. I will do my part of the job by systematically purging our members who break the rules.

Thats the community self moderating. Them protecting their gaming experience by kicking players they believe would otherwise ruin it. Its not mindless hate and persecution. Its the result of creating a clan with a name that stands for destroying the game you play. Of a bunch of members causing trouble in games to the extent people associate your clan with trouble. And of players that take advantage of the tools available to the to ensure their games stay fun.
From our end we will do punishments as usual but when the community as a whole has an issue with your clan you can assume 1 of 2 things. Either the world is against you and its a bunch of bad luck and hateful players who have all decided to pick on you for no reason or as Occam's Razor suggests the repercussions you are suffering are a result of your decisions. Im not saying you should kick your members and honestly once you have that bad rep its real tough to shake.

Its not flat out against the rules but it is really poor form to be playing in a party with people who are all tagged in such a way. I use 4 or 5 names most of the time but none of them are really identifiable. Its just an inappropriate practice to use in a party.

As for the report you will be able to see it when I upload it to the ban manager. We had some 'technical difficulties' with the ban manager recently so I have been holding off on uploading it and many other reports. I really can not give you a time frame on that.

1. You're honestly just clowns. You spend your free-time worshipping a gamethrower, and someone who has ruined a lot of Mafia games in the past. Tafkal isn't as bad as he use to be (Mainly due to his recent inactivity), but there is a reason he's been banned on multiple accounts. You're all easily identifiable in-game as you always use the same names. I don't even want to hear how that doesn't influence your decisions when playing the game. If one of you happens to receive a killing role I highly doubt you're going to target another Tafkal member. (This of course can't be proven, but I'm sure some Tafkal members have spared the life of another member). I've also seen a few of your members spam the lobbys relentlessly until someone kicks you.

2. I've seen most of you abuse the kick function. You two included. You'll initiate a kick on someone, and of course 3 other Tafkal members will vote with you regardless of whether the person did anything wrong.

3. Your presence honestly just pisses a lot of people off. Mafia is meant to be a game of deception. By setting your names as SoandSo, Tafkal Hit Squad it gives the illusion you're all working together (Even if you're not), and it changes the game. I've had many games where players just immediately target the Hit Squad members, and they end up being town roles.

4. You all act as you're above the rules. Just because you're in a large group doesn't make you immune to the rules. I've also been in games where one of you would leave, and 5 Tafkal members would follow (Regardless of whether they were alive or not). That particular game a few Tafkal town members decided to leave, and the triad won.

Do you truly think all these players randomly have complaints about your clan? Your clan isn't funny, and whatever fun you 15 players think you're having is killing the game. Don't expect any sympathy from the staff when you're getting kicked from lobbies, and lynched in-game. Until you fix all the issues I listed about don't ever expect to be taken seriously, and if it continues we'll take action. Just because you're not directly gamethrowing or even Skyping doesn't mean you're not ruining the game for others.

Tafkal might've done some things wrong, but he's still a beautiful person inside and out. I saw Tafkal gamethrow only 2 times in 1 year. He is an excellent Mafia player when he wants.

Choosing your name is a part of the game. Naming oneself “-prefer Veteran” is a good strategy to avoid being targeted by a killer role.
I can bring you a replay where Cryptonic uses(and may be abuse) his moderator privileges to grow bigger his character, reveals himself as Cryptonic, and so draws more attention. (Cryptonic was Jester in that game.)
Yes, if I am a killer role, I am more likely to target someone named “Ban Balthy forever” rather than someone named “Tafkal is love.”. That's also a part of the game.

I highly encourage you to post your replay. I would be interested in seeing this, as it never happened. We don't tolerate that nonsense.

implement something that deters people from using easily identifiable in-game names. i'm pretty sure this can be seen as some kind of 'skyping' tool for people who want to abuse it. using an easily identifiable name or a name that you keep using is just bypassing the current mechanisms in place to prevent such things as players not being able to see chat outside of in-game chat.

the people using this 'tafkal hit squad' tag for their in-game name join a game, use the same in-game name tag and there you have it, an in-game chat channel for these people. it just ruins the dynamics and game experience for the rest of the people.

Using the name I use both helps and hurts me and I feel that it balances out. I see many more players who say "nurse joy is always evil" or "never trust nurse joy", and "nurse joy prefers mafia roles" than players who simply pm me their role or side with me because of my name. And I have had games where someone will pm me that their role is a certain role asking me to help them win, and then I out them to the town and they don't try that again. I vote for and investigate my friends if I am suspicious of them, and they do the same to me.

Using the same name has gotten me remarks like "you really should try using a different name" since I am attacked a lot night one, and I do feel like it's actually more of a handicap for me. But its fun, I enjoy the hate and the role play and eveything involved with most of the games I play. Don't group me in with the Tafkals and don't be such a killjoy. The game is meant to be fun, and I don't try to ruin games but rather have fun while also trying to win. Way too many people take this game way too seriously.

I simply have never cheated/skyped or anything like that and should have little trouble proving that when I finally get access to a replay. Just because marshall lynches my exec target does not mean I cheated or contacted that marshall. I -prefer executioner in almost every game, so I play that role a lot. It stands to reason that I'd get fantastically lucky every once in a while.

You are concerned that Balthy's bank has LESS points now than before? What kind of idiot would hack their bank to give themselves LESS points. For all you know, he's playing on a different PC, which would have a different bank. Thinking that it's illegitimate because there are now less points is retarded, because it just doesn't logically make sense to alter your bank in that way....

Thread closed cause this thread is petty. If you have legitimate reasons to have someone punished (in the form of a replay), post it in a report section. Otherwise, Mafia Discussion isn't a place to defame people.
