Bestmas Induces Gamethrowing

I recently came across a game where I rolled MM, but couldn't win because the town gamethrew to the triad hard. A vigilante tried lynching an invest because he thought the invest was an admin due to the invests colored name (Lord Jarraxus). The thing is, I can't really bring myself to report him. You know why? I wanted to lynch the admin too. You know why? Bestmas.

After rolling my role of MM I was excited. I never roll this guy and the setup features a crapton of visiting roles. I felt that if we got a mayor or mashall I won... I named my character my signature name; Worse Than Bestmas, and put on my signature model and hat. Apparently, an admin wondered what WAS worse than bestmas and let us all think about it. I started recording small clips to create a youtube compilation: Bestmas Torture! But I was too mad to do so.

Granted, I probably wouldn't have won that game anyway. The triad killed the marshal N1 (He might've suicided, actually.) But the gamethrowing made it so much more intolerable. The vigilante voted up a 5k+ points guy with a colored name, thinking that man was the admin who caused the bestmas. When I voted him he also pmed me get ur vote off me or i'll snipe ur face.

6 people died N2. 2 suicides, bodyguard kills, triad and me. The vigilante shot did not go through, because of the BG. Both of the suicides turned out to be the investigative roles, I killed an escort, and the triad killed off a protective. Scum had more votes than town day 3. The Triad didnt die at all that game. They got a flawless victory after lynching the invest, killing a spy at night, and then lynching me after I begged sufficiently. (MM is harder to win as than triad! MM is harder to get than triad! I really need this win! It's like, my only neutral left! Blah blah blah etc)

There were no fabled Extra Points that I heard someone on here mention. All that was in that game was a shaky screen, fire, and gamethrows. Ugh.

My reason to come here was not to complain about that game. Its to ask the admins a question.

Has there ever been any speculation about how Bestmas and other admin antics (Happy April Fools Day) effect gameplay? I think they do. Can I get any confirmation that this has been surveyed in regular public games?

I have said it quite a few times. I really think we should either remove bestmas or get rid of that screen shake. I think players could really enjoy it without the screen shake but as it stands now it just makes players give up and quit.

Also, nothing you described sounded like gamethrowing. Sure, it makes people act a certain way, but it's just the bloodlust brought on by being in the presence of the Bestmas ritual.

When I've seen admins use bestmas, they usually give everyone a bunch of points at the end of the game. Bestmas games are generally more about fooling around and having fun.

I've been in 2 bestmas games, and they were games that made me laugh harder than I've ever laughed playing mafia. Considering that I've played just under a thousand games, and only had less than 1% of my games be games like this, I'm more than okay with it. I want to see it more often

Brother Crypt, we cannot sustain our rituals at this pace. Our reserves of sacrifices cannot be restocked fast enough.

It is gamethrowing because of the alteration of the game due to bestmas. We had 3-4 people leave because of the screen shakes. The town vigilante tried shooting somebody randomly because he thought that man was an admin. Thats gamethrowing.

Can we just settle for removing the screen shaking? Or making it less seizure-ish?

I come on at the same time as a lot of admins. I've played even with cryptonic a few times before senpai cryptonic play it more please
I'm victim to a lot of bestmas and when an admin came on on april fools day he renamed everyone Happy April Fools Day, even with the objection of lots of people. It wasn't really funny ok fine, it was funny, i'll give you that but that one game where I got MM and couldn't win because of suicides made me mad.

I don't think you know what gamethrowing is, then. If the person who they thought was Admin revealed as a Mayor and then the Vigilante shot him, than that is gamethrowing. Vigilante shooting someone whose role they don't know isn't gamethrowing. If that player they shot ended up flipping Neutral/Mafia, is it still gamethrowing because he shot for the wrong reasons? A Vigilante is allowed to use their bullets however they want, as long as they're not targetting confirmed Town members.

Gamethrowing is intentionally doing an action to cause your team to lose. If you do not know the outcome of your action (ie, the role of the player you are killing/lynching), than you are not gamethrowing by committing that action.

Idk why people leave the game because of the head banging. I mean, in a normal game, who the hell is looking at the background? Why do people all of a sudden look at the background when it's Bestmas? The things in the game that people actually look at (chatbox, player list, graveyard, role list) never move.

That being said, I'd be OK with the head banging being removed at night, or at least reduced.

Yes, I probably only see things differently cause I've played Bestmas more frequently than most pubs. I've learned after a game or two that looking at chatbox doesn't make me dizzy, ect lol

I'm sorry, I wasn't trying to pick a fight. I was just correcting your terminology so you can more accurately verbalize your argument. People do tend to troll more during Bestmas, which I think is your term you're looking for. Ie. not trying to play Mafia the way it was intended to be played.

I only do Bestmas if someone asks me to. And even then, I don't do it if I had already done it that day.
It's not like we activate it solely to make people angry.

I want to second the idea of less shaking. While Bestmas is hilarious, doing two of them back to back did hurt my head a bit.

That being said, the expectation for Bestmas should be a trolly game...

Was just in a bestmas game and 3 people left right away. The games are funny (and so is the admin hunt) but they do make me a little bit nauseous lol ._.
