Day II: ...but you can't hide

If the video doesn't load, refresh the page until it does.

At the beginning of the new day, citizens of Midgar regrouped once again in the main square of the city. It didn’t took long to notice that two of them were missing: as they all knew in the bottom of their hearts, only a few would survive until the end.

A short distance away, they instantly recognized the body of Cloud, who has been impaled on a metal pole, clearly the work of Sephiroth. One of the citizens said through his teeth, “I was there, i saw everything”, and the crowd suddenly turned their eyes on him, awaiting for him to tell them what happened.

“I heard sounds of swords clangings”, he started, “like if they were coming from above my house. I went checking, and i saw that a battle was taking place on the roofs. One of the duelists was wielding a large and thick sword, I think he was Cloud, while the other had a much longer and thinner one”. “At first, Cloud looked confused, startled, as if he had no idea what was going on, but he still responded to his enemy’s attacks instinctively. They stared at each other for a moment, and it was then that Cloud realized he was fighting his former master and arch-enemy, Sephiroth. The two started to talk...

Cloud: ”I should have known it was you, Sephiroth. Always looking to mess with other people’s lives, aren’t you?”
Sephiroth: “You are always so naive, Cloud. You never learn. Do you think I wouldn’t recognize you, disguised as Arthur?”

[Skip to 1:48 in the track]

“Then Cloud lunged at his enemy with his Buster Sword, and shouted.”

Cloud: “This is it then, the final showdown. I will finally free this world from you!”

“Sephiroth didn’t answer, instead he held his sword firmly, awaiting Cloud’s attack. The two blades clashed together, the sparkles illuminated their faces for a brief moment. I managed to take a pic with my camera”

“After several sequences of attacks and parries from both fighters, they finally landed on the ground, then they paused again.”

Cloud, clearly angered at his opponent: “As long as you exist, Sephiroth, I can’t wake up from this nightmare. You are my darkness. I want - I NEED to remember who I am”.
Sephiroth: “If that is so, I shall draw you into an eternal darkness. You will live an endless nightmare!”

“They continued exchanging blows, but no one seemed to gain advantage. Then Cloud noticed an instant of hesitation in Sephiroth, thus he took the opportunity to charge. It was a trap. As the skilled warrior Sephiroth was, he made his opponent do exactly what he was expecting. He dodged the blow, then he quickly turned and kicked Cloud on his back, forcing him on the ground. As he pointed the tip of his sword at Cloud’s throat, Sephiroth’s expression turned into an evil grin.”

Sephiroth: “This is your end. You have been nothing but a puppet. You are weak.”

“He didn’t even left his defeated target a moment to answer, as he pierced Cloud through his chest and lifted him without the resemblance of an effort.”

Sephiroth: “You will be a great soul for my Black Materia. We will do great things together.”

“Those were his final words. I took a pic of that scene, then he disappeared. I was afraid he was going to come for me, so i ran away without ever looking back.”

The crowd noticed a piece of paper, attached to the metal pole on which Cloud has been impaled. Something was written in what seemed to be clotted blood:

ONLY DEATH AWAITS YOU ALL. BUT DO NOT FEAR. FOR IT IS THROUGH DEATH THAT A NEW SPIRIT IS BORN. SOON, YOU WILL LIVE AGAIN AS A PART OF ME.

As if it was possible, the bystanders were even more sad and anxious: Sephiroth was as active and powerful as ever, and they had to fear for their very souls.

One of the citizens reminded them that another person was missing in the plaza: Tracy.

As they were going to her house, they stumbled upon a severed limb along the rails that crossed all of Midgar. Soonly thereafter they realized what happened to Tracy’s body. She was tied to the rails, and dismembered by a passing train.
Since there was no way to know what her activity was when she was alive, they continued to his house, only to find it empty. Literally. That was clearly the work of a skilled janitor.

Before starting the forum, a newspaper courier threw them a copy of “The Midgarian”, the local newspaper.
Among a bunch of useless news, there was a medic report that said that the forum member “Evan” has been in a hospital last night but now he was fine, he was just probably suffering from a little amnesia, as his behaviour was different from the day before.
They found only another noteworthy article, sent by some anonymous guy. It read like this:

People, I warn you, there are some people who you should be wary of, Edna seems to want to kill everyone and is "too" into the RP, be warned. Warren is after your money, he should be taken a check at, he's trolling beyond belief, he as something to hide. Katherine and George are also suspicious and I think they may be flowing a code between them. Arthur and Lionel, I'm not too sure about and I think Riley and Jaret are definitely hiding something. Never trust someone with a Jesus avatar, Fiona is dangerous. All of the rest either talked too much without giving much of anything or didnt really post at all. Of course, everything in this paragraph is just a complete guess off intuition and none of it should be taken completely to heart as the truth. If the journalist visits me again, I may have more information for the town...

I'm still alive... but what a twist of fate!

Cloud was indeed among us and he was killed by Sephiroth... And Sephiroth had quite a nasty death note.
On top of that we also have a janitor who cleaned one person. I hope it was not Yuffie...

Honestly, I'm really afraid of Sephiroth now. But! The trolling phase of the forum is over, and we can actually discuss the current situation.

Evan? I'm fairly sure his identity was replaced because he made 0 posts on the first day.
Wendy also made 0 posts. Can be lurker, I think she may had an action this night.

I said everything I wanted to say. I understand that I attracted some attention, but it's better than lurking around and saying nothing.

I think Sephy jumped the gun a bit on killing Cloud, why so early? Random luck, but what a coincidence.

Yes, amnesiac could have turned into a townie later on, then again he might have chosen to be a scum. Now we shall never know. Is the serial killer going to help the town this game too? First kill being a neutral sure seems that way.

Then, who was (Dick) Tracy, the cleaned guy?

Only two roles can find out who he was: Coroner, and less precisely, Grave Robber, and those roles are not confirmed yet.

For Grave Robber things are even more difficult: he cannot read target's last will. He can steal action, but will be able to find out type of that role's action only after Night 3 - the night where he will put that action in use.

The roles that are certanly NOT cleaned are: Sephiroth, Shinra, Hojo. Why not Hojo? Because if he died, the new cult member would die with him, as cult consersions happen BEFORE night kills. That is, unless he tried to recruit Sephiroth and failed.
Anyone else can be cleaned, be it Shinra Corps or Turks, or maybe even Yuffie - yet I refuse to even think about that!

Anyway, Coroner, if you are here, rejoice - you have a work to do.

Are you certain of this fact? Half of the cult members suicide when the cult leader meets his end. If there is only one remaining member, would he suicide?

Well, Riley's words are quite informative, because only 2 kills went through instead of one. We know that Consort is in the list for sure.

It is possible that Riley was a killing role from Mafia, and his shot was stopped. Then again, if he was the Mafia member, he would stay silent about roleblock. And if Riley was a Citizen, he would still not talk about roleblock since he knows already that Consort is present.

My point? Riley is an active night role who was displeased that his action was blocked. Can be Town role, can be not.

clarification question: do citizens get consort notifications?

consort is a confirmed role but there could also be an escort. if consort is on the same team as janitor we can rule riley out as mafia. To wifom it I don't think he would say he was blocked if he was a killing role.

I concur, that does not make sense. In the previous FM the only reason a citizen did not report being blocked was because he failed to notice his PM. Citizens have even more reason to report a block than power roles do.

I don't agree with the slight accusation that Riley is an action role, but I understand the logic that Edna provides.

Let's just assume you were a town power role. What information would you gain from the knowledge that there is a consort OR an escort?

This type of information is best held tight until there is a discrepancy in some claims. When 2 people claim a role block down the line you will be able to say that you were blocked on day 1. This provides evidence that the 2 people claiming they were role blocked may have indeed been role blocked and aren't lying. Until that situation arises there is no need to let us know that there was a block. Right now if the Mafia did not block Riley then they know that there must be another role blocker in the game. This is only advantageous to the Mafia with the known Consort.

Just a thought since there isn't much to talk about yet.

This FM is suddenly awesome. Day 2, epic Sephiroth v Cloud battle. Started guessing it was amnesiac when he said he couldn't remember his past.

Also, blocked mafia, double kill onto same person, or witch-forced disguise (or just a really early, somewhat stupid disguise)?

"That was clearly the work of a skilled janitor."

I doubt they'd give away information in the RP, but you seem to have left out the Janitor.

In fact a witch forced disguise would mean that there are 2 missing kills on top of the fact that a witch successfully targeted a disguiser and let him loose. That's statistically improbable regardless of how many improbable outcomes have happened before. Just seems odd that you ignored the more logical choice of there being a janitor.
