    New Role: Prisoner

Description: You are a former criminal who has been reformed by the prison system. While you have vowed to do good in the world, your sentence requires you stay at the prison every night.

    Alignment: Town

    Tier: Basic

Abilities: Listen to the Jailor and his captive talk.

Requirement: Jailor must be in the game. Possible to spawn on randoms but only if a Jailor does too.

    Options:
    - Allow 1-4 nights of Prisoner being allowed to talk to Jailor/captive.
    - Invulnerability: Always on or only on when Jailor is able to jail.
    - Knows who was jailed on/off.
    - Disabled/enabled from randoms. Allows this role to be turned off altogether for anybody who may not like it (I wish this was possible for every role).

This is certainly an original sounding idea. Can you describe what effect you think the role would have on the metagame?

    Re: New Role: Prisoner

I quite like it; it's not any kind of power role but better than your basic citizen. Would the Jailor know who the Prisoner is? I guess he would. Would the Prisoner know who the Jailor is? Maybe.

If one or the other knows their identity then this can become a cool toned down version of the Masons. I can imagine some cool setups with multiple prisoners (imagine if the Prisoners could talk to each other at night anonymously...). If the Jailor gets killed perhaps the Prisoners can't speak or vote the next day as no one let them out of their cells - if this is the case then the Jailor/Prisoner combo should err to the stronger side (i.e. know each others identity).

It could even out or back up the Jailor in a lot of situations where the Jailor becomes useless and even a town target because of constant lynching. I've always disliked how the Jailor becomes a spectator in many games because of the amount of lynching that happens, so this would allow the Jailor to have a "buddy" that could save him from being lynched as well as allowing any information that was passed to the Jailor be preserved without requiring a Last Will that outs people as certain roles.

    Re: New Role: Prisoner

The prisoner can also pretend to be a jailor and confirm who was jailed at night when it's important, to keep the real jailor out of harm's way.

    Also very true.

Another idea for an option is to let the Prisoner act as a sort of Bodyguard for the Jailor, giving up his night immunity in exchange for making attacks that affect the Jailor redirect to the Prisoner.

    Re: New Role: Prisoner

I feel the Prisoner & the Jailor should get night immunity when jailing, if possible(if theres a prisoner in the game, jailor gains night immune, if NOT = jailor does not), sounds about right, right.?

    +1 For me.

    Some balance changes would include:
Jailed captive knows who the prisoner is, but not the Jailor - Maybe?
Jailed captive is anonymous to the prisoner
Prisoner is anonymous to the jailor, & jailor is anonymous to the prisoner.
^ Just some suggestions I thought from the top of my mind.

I think the double immunity thing would be too good.

Another options: Jailor doesn't know who Prisoner is, but if the Jailor jails the Prisoner, he it is revealed that he is a Prisoner.
