Re: S-FM 105: Lost in the Amazon

The night action of checking Carolina seemed to be the best. The poisoner killing Orpz worked perfectly.

CC was then forced to claim. I would have LOVED it if she claimed outside of the pairing. It would have been much harder to do. However, with ika's ramblings that didn't really help matters. I was forced to out, giving CC that option to claim Voyeur. The fake claim was incredibly well done. We might have derailed it if we asked who everyone visited N1. Yet, we didn't until MUCH later. That's probably where a good chunk of the chaos came in.

sc2reboot getting a guilty on Ganondorf was good, because it played into the natural, there cannot be two of this role paranoia. I bet that's where the rolecop was n1. Instead, it probably would have worked better if they faked up ika's slot. I've been paranoid over ika's suicide gambit for many many games now. That might have pushed me over the edge.

I'm also surprised Carolina went along with that investigation. If Carolina claimed some other town role, she might have been able to pass and paint me as scum.

sc2reboot, your wordplay was very good, and you'll be deadly when you figure out how to think three steps ahead in night actions. A little more activity in the early game would help.

PoD, you'd be my second choice for MVP. Very well played. You had some suspicion as scum from me due to your persistent FoS on me early on. Beyond that, you did an excellent job.

ika, please don't get in a death tunnel with me all the time. Thanks.

ThinkLife, things started a little rocky because I had that scum suspicion on ika's slot. Overall, your play was pretty good.

Eliza, thanks for replacing in. You were alert and coherent fast, which is hard to do in a game with such short days. Good job!

Orpz, thanks for pointing out that slip. That was extremely beneficial.

ypmagic, you seem to be the reverse of sc2reboot. You are good at picking night actions (killing Orpz was a smart move even though it helped us a lot), but you basically shot yourself in the foot with your words.

It's kinda sad, I was hoping this would carry me over to FM XIX (and probably even overlap a bit): what do I do with my life now?

Titus investigating CC N1 won town the game flat-out: no other way to put it.

In hindsight, RLVG did try a bit too hard to soft claim traitor: it really didn't affect much, but in a closer game it could've decided a win or lose situation.

I think that RLVG should have claimed he visited Noctiz on N1 and that he is the Elite Body Guard to help corroborate CarolinaCrown's story.

RLVG did not do much to help scum and played independently as a unit which I think is what hurt the scum team the most. If CarolinaCrown, sc2reboot, and RLVG had all claimed power roles that countered the Titus/Ganondorf/ThinkLiveLife unit then I think the citizens would have been really unsure who to trust.

Yes there were so many posts this game. It took me a long time to read through all of them.
I was loosely following along from the side the whole game but after I replaced in I wanted to read everything in order. Thanks Sen for hosting a good game.

It is way past my bedtime but I wonder if I got into FM XIX. Should I stay up and wait for a role card or should I sleep?

D, you deserve it. I probably would have given you a run for your money if I hadn't been so tired the other night and misremembered who I investigated. You did a lot more with less information. I played the investigator well but you played the VT/Mason the best.

I would like to see that happen but I cant imagine having a 48 hour day system if the players are lurking.. I also think the instant night mechanic was pretty bad-ass. It made for a lot of activity to stay consistent more than having a night break in my opinion.

Thank you, I'm happy that for once I've managed to be "sure Townie", I fail at that way too often. I'm mad at myself that I destroyed an opportunity for a trap when I was converted by PoD. Didn't matter, but it could.

I think you also played well, but Placebo didn't and that was a problem xD

    Symbolically :P

I know you're a tricky player and it was clear you were town from the beginning, so I was paying special attention to you, but even then there was a whole ton of stuff that I missed. @PoD, I definitely knew your trap was a trap, I thought I could make people think you were a framer... That didn't pan out though :P

I was also planning some sick blackmails! If I had hammered Ganon when he was at L-1 that crucial day, I might've been able to block a vote and get the win... I was thinking something like "If I vote today that is equivalent to admitting I am blackmailed!" But I didn't think of it soon enough, and I was busy trying to find some exploit Sen couldn't deny me :P

Much much MUCH congratulations to Sen for hosting a balanced, enjoyable, and completely INVIGORATING game. It's one I won't soon forget.

I defended him for the sole reason of him being a suspect due to his activity levels. I argued that he always plays like that and that he is not worth a lynch, pressure yes but he said what he wanted to. That's why I told you to focus on some others, the information of me visiting him on N1 would've been useful later in the game anyway, not at the beginning where he could've been a TPR.

@D, Placebo's actions were deliberate. Even in my "trash posts" it should have been clear what posts I liked and what I didn't. The goal was to draw just enough heat to make sure the mafia would NEVER want to kill me. I got caught when I slipped. Placebo's play was actually one of the better parts IMO. My objective was accomplished.

Yes, FM XIX soon! CC, you could've hammered me but I don't think it would've changed much: it just would've turned the 4v1 we ended up with into a 2v1 because sc2reboot would be confirmed scum, and you probably would've been lynched too.

I agree that the success of this FM came from the combination of the instant night mechanic and a simple, yet varied setup. The game was playable, the hosting was good, and the players were interested: overall, it was incredibly successful and I consider it a great lead into FM XIX.

Not quite! See, if you'd been lynched and we had another kill, it would have been 4v3. I would have sent a loophole blackmail to a confirmed town preventing them from voting without being killed the following night, and asked the traitor to reveal. Take one town vote out and it's only 3 left, 4 to lynch.

Of course, Sen told me there was pretty much no way to actually tie votes to BM consequences, but you guys didn't know that!

Agreed. Instant night is MUCH HARDER for scums in some respects. There's no time to pause and plan. Decisions are made on the fly. That being said, it is harder to lynch scum BECAUSE they talk during the day.

My arch enemy used to be noctiz and sinclair xD
Almost beated Noctiz in ladder, but we were the same team, then I let him win mvp as arsonist so he could be tied with orpz
Then we went back to normal friendly stance

Sinclair was my target as exe twice, and my cc 3 times (especially escort vs consort in fist of the north star) in like 5 games in a row
Then we made an epic alliance in Gang wars!

    Roleplay:
    Spoiler : Day 1 :

A group of people from all around the world went for a trip to the deep area of the Amazon rainforest.
It was the first day of the trip and everything seemed like the beginning of a great adventure.

Everyone was having fun, although some were a bit scared by that tale that the guide told them about stories of missing persons on the area.
Some say there is a cannibal tribe, others that it was a crazy doctor who disappeared two decades ago after a plane crash.
The fact that cellphones and radios were dead in that part of the area didn't help making them feel better, but the guide reassured them that they were safe with him and his rifle.

All of that changed the following morning when they found his lifeless body behind a tree. His neck was broken and all of his belongings were missing.
    - We must get out of here! - screamed a voice.
    - I knew those tales were true!
    - Anyone remembers the way back to the city?
    - asked a lady while fruitlessly trying to make a phone call.
    Nobody replied. They were lost.
Some started crying, others remained silent, pondering their options.
The rest started trying to remember the way and kept checking their phones.

Anything they were discussing was interrupted when one of the youngest in the group broke the silence with a scream of joy:
    - Well, at least we have enough reserves for a lifetime.
The group walked to where he was and looked in shock a massive marijuana plantation extending in all directions.
A couple were about to join the other guy in his excitement, but soon realized that plantations and druglords often come in pairs.
It didn't take long for the group to decide that, even if they couldn't remember the way, the best path would be that which leads as far away from that plantation as possible.
    - What about the guide? We can't leave him like that; he has a family. We should at least bury him.
Anyone who thought that was a bad idea was too ashamed to mention it.

After the funeral rites, the group started moving in the opposite direction of the plantation.
Some said they were on the right track, while others were constantly complaining.

    - We never saw that river earlier, I told you it wasn't this way!
There was noone to blame; the whole place looked the same and only and expert could tell the difference between that place and the one where they were 30 minutes ago.

With the morale down and feeling tired after all the recent events, the group took a break to eat and recover energy.
    - Where did you say you come from? I don't remember seeing you in the bus from town. - inquired an elder man.

    - I could swear we weren't this many a few hours ago. - joked another man.
    - Actually, I think you're right. Luckily I took a picture when we first met, let's...

His words were interrupted when the young guy started violently vomiting blood all over the place.
Some approached to him to see what was going on, but they immediatly backed off in dread as the young guy coughed more blood before falling down to the ground.

    - Is.... is he ok? - mumbled a voice in the background.
    - He is dead... - the old man replied.
    - My god! Was he infected with something!? We're all gonna die!

The panic took over for some moments until the elder man calmed the group:
    - It's not contagious. This man was clearly poisoned.
People were shocked after watching two deaths in just a couple of hours, but knowing that it wasn't contagious made them feel a bit better.
    - Maybe... maybe it was a spider, right? It must have been...
    - Who did this to my camera!?

The device had been smashed to the ground while everyone was distracted with the guy's death.
Someone wanted to get rid of those photos.
The members of the group started looking at each other in distrust when it started raining.
Despite the current events, staying out in the rain was a sure death.
The group quickly set camp as they could and started trying to figure out what was was going on.

    Spoiler : Day 2 :
After setting up camp, the now paranoid group held a meeting where they started discussing the events of the day; the deaths, the plantation, what they were going to do.

It didn't take long until acussations started flying left and right; some even suggested taking the law into their own hands and lynching those who seemed like good candidates to be held responsible for the earlier deaths. Some agreed with this proposal, what others said that it was crazy. Whatever the case, the night fell and the group agreed to wait for the sun to rise again before continuing.

The night was cold, and many had the impression of hearing footsteps outside of their tents. Some ventured out to check what was going on, but most were too scared and simply tried their best to sleep.

The morning was announced by a distant scream. Everyone jumped out of their "beds" and ran to see what was going on: They found Poriomania's lifeless body behind some rocks.

It was clear that the group couldn't wait for someone to come and save them; if they wanted to survive, they would have to find and get rid of the killer(s).

    (...)

Some hours later, after some discussion, the group decided to bury Poriomania's body. Ok, that's a lie; they threw him into the river.

Many heated discussions took place along the early hours of the day. Fingers were pointed, cases and defenses were presented, but a conclusion wasn't reached:

    - I'm sure he's hiding something!
    - No, I'm telling you: she's lying and trying to confuse us.
    - Anything to say, Orpz? You've been sitting there doing nothing for hours!
    - Orpz...?

His body presented the same signs as that of the young guy who died to poison the day before. It was clear that an animal didn't do it; someone in the group was poisoning people.

    (...)

After a long day, the group decided it was time for them to go find some food and eat. They collected many fruits and captured some fishes, which they kept inside of a tent which had been on the shadow all day long.

Someone sneaked into the tent and started pouring some liquids over the fishes. Little did he know that someone had left their phone recording video, hidden in a corner.

    - What's up? - he asked after noticing everyone else watching the phone's screen.

A dozen angry faces turned at him.
It didn't take long for him to understand wha twas going on. He tried to run away, but one of the many rocks thrown at him hit his head and threw him out of balance.

ypmagic tried to defend himself, but the group beat him to death.
Since he poisoned the fishes, they decided to cook and eat him. i'm telling you, these guys are insane.

Then they threw a party because they finally got the poisoner, and hey, it's friday.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPRFDOdoxzg

    Spoiler : Day 3 :
After the party, the now tired and drunk group went to sleep. Some managed to make it into their tents, some other fell asleep on the outside.

    - Anyone got an aspirin?
    - Where did you get all that alcohol anyway?
    - *shrugs*

Everyone started waking up and gathering outside to plan that day's activities.

    - Ok... is everyone here?
    - Someone's missing...

The group started searching every tent. After a few minutes, someone found NoctiZ.

    - Hey, wake up!
    - Dude...?

    There was no answer.

    (...)

That day's discussion got a bit weird:

    - I'm a voyeur!
    - I'm a voyeur as well!
    - This is awkward; I'm fine with one of you spying me, but two? That's just disgusting!
    - Yeah, we should kill one of them, maybe both!
    - Makes sense.
    - Ok. Ganondorf goes first.
    - No. Carolina first.
    - *sigh* alright.

    Carolina: OMG, guys, stop it!

    Spoiler : Day 4 :
Another night went by and a new body was found:
ThinkLiveLife was stabbed to death and he wasn't able to heal himself.

After so many night kills, one starts wondering why the group hasn't setup a night watch.

    (...)

Only a few minutes passed since they found the doctor's body.
The group was discussing how sc2reboot (who had been asleep for a while) was really scummy.

    - Yeah. Actually, we should just kill him while he sleeps.
    - Mhm.
    - Hey, what are you guys up to? By the way, I was checking and found out that you are scum.
    - Lol, no.
    - Die.

    Spoiler : Day 5 :
It was around midday when the group gathered to eat some mushrooms, and that's the last thing they can remember, but who would have imagined that it might not be safe to eat random mushrooms found in the Amazon?

Anyway. Ganondorf was lying down there inside of his tent, so the others started kicking him.

    - Wake up.
    - Who brought the mushrooms anyway?
    - *shrugs*

    He never woke up.

    (...)

    - Hey, guys. I killed Ganondorf.
    - OMG, why would you do that!?
    - Well, that's because I'm a veteran!
    - Why do veterans kill visitors anyway?
    - *shrugs* We're a bit crazy, I guess.
    - OMG, RLVG's crazy. LYNCH HIM!

    Spoiler : Epilogue :
The group was never rescued, but since they killed all the drug dealers and the poisoner, they have nothing to fear about, except for thusands of venomous species, local cannibal tribes and of course, the crazy people that lived in the tents next to them, but they didn't seem to care and lived happily ever after.
