It really sucks in insurance when you get someone's birthdate as 050759 and you enter it, but the d.bag hangs around too many Americans and they meant to put 070559 and they cost us precious dollars.

Actually stems from our laziness.

We got tired of saying "The 11th of September" or such and decided to shorten it to just "September 11th". Then we decided to write the date in the same order that we SAY the date. September 11th, 2012 = 09/11/2012
