S-FM Overturn to Riddler

[Poriomania]

It's not the gleaming mayor's office like the last time you saw this.

He hadn't told her that it was a city that has lost it's luster. Yet, over the months, WIFOM City has gradually declined, from a mediocre but noteworthy city to a place that suddenly peaked in crime and dirty dealings. His car drove through and reached a motel. Crime or no crime, it would be a place that they would be stopping for the night. He got out his wallet and paid hard, cold, cash to the receptionist.

"I'll take two," the man said quietly. Gathering their belongings, he hauled three bags, one of them a larger-than-average cosmetics bag, into the room. After dropping off the bags on the floor, he wondered where his fiancee went. Hadn't she been following him?

"Alisha!" he yells. No response. Had she wandered off into the night? Or, maybe worse...

He dashes down the stairs, taking two steps at a time. He runs toward the lobby on the old concrete sidewalk - so old that he nearly trips on a particularly well-damaged area. And he sees her.

Transfixed on something.

The man breaths a huge sigh of relief, then thoughts start to creep into his head. Why would she ignore him for all this time? Why didn't she make any motion to move when he grabbed the bags?

"Just look," she whispers, and she points up to the air. A helicopter, an unusual one, moves smoothly in the dark night. "Why yes, it's beautiful," the man says under his breath. Then he caresses her cheek, and she kisses him.

"Indeed."

On the helicopter

"Mr. Livingston, please calm down."

Preston Livingston, the governor of the state, nervously pinched his tie, visibly angry.

"Ever since this started you've been digging us into a deeper hole. I doubt you'll be able to reverse this."

Sean Whalen, the newly appointed mayor of the city, started biting his nails.

"It's not my fault that the outburst of crime started in the first pla-"

"Save it! Ever since you replaced Titus the city has just been swarming with crime. I feel just like removing you from office right now."

"Please, Mr. Livingston. Just give me one final chance. I'm confident in a couple months or so I can turn around the crime."

Preston glanced at the mayor warily.

"This is your last chance, Whalen. If another couple people get shot or a celebrity gets kidnapped..."

"Understood."
