Just out of curiosity, why is it a Vigilante can't kill first night but a Jailor can? They both have the same effects since both are pun intended shots in the dark.

What Cryptonic said. I build my games to start on night since I think of Jailor as a 2nd shot at trial (I also make him unique), but Jailor gets information to go on as far as his kill. That, and good jailers won't kill night 1, but use the role block instead
I always start at night as well. I even skip first night if I am jailor sometimes.
When we talked about pubs, we are talking about us.
When they talked about pubs, they exclude themselves.
They say only bad players want to modify citizens, and they do not satisfy bad players.
Are we bad players? We include bad players, but that is just a part of us.
---They put veteran, mayor, allowed jester to visit for nothing, and they regretted and say those things are brainless.
Yeah I was in a game recently where I was Godfather (my name was Totally Godfather, how funny) and n1 I was jailed and executed. I asked the jailor why he did it at the end of the game and he said because of my name. That's one reason why starting at night is a good idea.
What if DR adds an option where jailor can't execute on n1?
Spoiler : FM History :
Nope. SK kills roleblockers usually.
then we'd simply have no reason to start the game on "Day1 with no lynch"... the only reason we start the game at "Day1 with no lynch" is so Jailor can jail something... dislike that... then start the game at Night1
if Jailor can't threaten the victim with death... the victim has no reason to talk... even more so now with Kidnapper in the game...
if Jailor can't kill on the first night... Kidnapper shouldn't be able to either... and that'd hurt the Kidnapper
Day 1 is important because you can get to know others in your games and plan according to how their personality is.
As a protective, you can anticipate night actions and counter them.
As an investigative, you can find better scum targets.
As a scum, you attempt to appear less suspicious.
As an important PR, you can prevent yourself from getting killed.
Sure, it's not 100% accurate... but it's better than closing your eyes and clicking a name...
