Fragos's future M-FM poll

As of now, I will be taking a break from hosting Forum Mafia games. But eventually, I'm planning to make another M-FM game soon (will probably take a few months, though). Until that time comes, I will be an active FM player, participating in M-FMs and Forum Mafia XVIII.

Still, when another Forum Mafia game comes in the distant future from me, what do you want it to be?

1. M-FM Mists of Pandaria. It was the next M-FM I planned to host in the future, until the opportunity allowed me to host FM XVII. This game's key mechanics are Tushui vs Huojin and Town vs Sha. Sha Possession is the most notable mechanic, and is related to players's actions and behaviors. See the setup thread for more details. Nickname theme are from notable Pandaren

2. M-FM Five-Sided Town vol. 2. This game's rules will be similar to FM XVII, but on a smaller scale. There will be four teams (Mafia, Tycoons, Police and Rebels), and the rest of majority will be Citizens with 1-2 Power roles, making the bulk of town. No neutrals roles this time, and only Mafia can make infinite kills each night. Nickname theme are Pokemon from PMD: Gates to Infinity.

3. M-FM Digimon Xros Wars. See the Brainstorm thread for preliminary information. The primary mechanic of this game is Xros Fusion, where two players (that is, Digimon) can fuse together into a single, more powerful Digimon. Faction-wise, it will be a standard Mafia game with Town versus Bagra Army, with the Virus and Benigh Neutrals thrown in the mix.

In my opinions these games have some major flaws that needs to be overcome.

I don't think that Mists of Pandaria is very viable, it would be overcomplicated since emotions are relatively subjective from one people to another.
I don't really like Five Sided Town, because one faction can lurk until they choose their allying faction which is more dominant. Which makes for a more stale game.
Digimon Xros Wars is good, but I'm worrying that teamwork when the 2 players already fuse might be an issue. It would be difficult to properly discuss before they take actions, since not everybody is active at the same time.

Well, I can say that I appreciate your support and feedback. The ones who are deciding the future of FM games are you, the SC2 Mafia comminity. No matter what final game you will vote on, I will make sure that the future game will be properly balanced without any serious issues.

1. The point of Sha possession is that players who want to "gamethrow" will probably become one of the Sha thenselves, gets found by town quickly, and lynched afterwards. So your so-callend "gamethrow" will turn out against then.

2. I agree that player count will be smaller. But even then, will can still expect a tense game. There will be 3 Mafia, 3 Tycoons, 3 Police, and 2 Rebels. The remaining 9 players will be town, who do not know the roles of each other. I intend to place then as 8 Citizens and 1 Doctor, but I might also go with route 3 Hidden Town Power + 6 Citizens. This game will not have an obvious flaw of "neutral" Citizens that could side with any faction on their choice.

3. How is the gamethrowing possible here? You need support of other votes if you want to DigiXros with your "friend". You need to vote for your DigiXros together with your target, and on top of that, your DigiXros must have more support votes than DigiXrosses of other paired Digimon.

Vigilante will be always a Police role. The town can get either gunsmith or armorsmith. But Mayor can be a possible role.

Sorry, but I would never approve the "fusion" mechanic. It messes with the core of Forum Mafia too much.

I'm personally more interested in Mists of Pandaria, but it'd require much more specific conditions to become Sha so it's less open to interpretation.

How does it messes with the core of Forum Mafia? Can you explain what problems this mechanic brings? I need a proper explanation for that so that I can adjust my plans in a different way.

Personally I would like every M-FM setup to be given an equal chance to win, so if fusion mechanic becomes a problem, then I can replace that aspect with "Digivolution", making certain roles stronger on their own.

The account sharing / disappearance of accounts. I think it's a terrible mechanic and it infuriates me to no end whenever I see it used (including "blackout day" and "the box made you all the same guy").

Merging roles mid-game just seems like an unnecessary gimmick as well. Just giving them night chat and letting them keep control of their own actions would be more normal.

I tihnk that I can preserve the DigiXros mechanic without sharing/dissapearance of accounts. Yeah, either the game accounts stay the same, or (in case of Mafia+Town accidental DigiXros) one can gain control over both accounts.

That being said, I will find an optimal solution that will satisfy BorkBot and other guys like Nick. But the actual game is still far, far away from now, so what you are actually voting for is the general idea, not the game itself.

This poll is still active as of now! I feel like I am ready to host another M-FM soon. Of course I'll have to win another M-FM Poll from other game hosts first. Since current M-FM is leaning towards town victory, I decided to use anonymous nicknames again. You will vote not only for the game itself, but also for the nicname theme that is going to be used there. The name themes will be as following in those games:

1. Mists of Pandaria - Pandaren (named after most famous pandas from World of Warcraft)
2. Five-Sided Town - Pokemon AGAIN. This time, the new theme will come from PMD: Gates to Infinity
3. Digimon Xros Wars - Digimon names. Based on the anime on the same name.

I will go through the same process as I did when I was setting up Nasty Rumours M-FM, even if I have to bribe BorkBot with money through PayPal. All for your sake, guys!
