@fallacy wow for taking this thread seriously and I'll return you the grace. What most of you say is true. North Korea actually has built a massive array of missiles and bombs over the years and can easily carpet bomb the shit out of South Korea (which isn't hard considering SK has surface area 1/4 the size of California). This isn't to say South Korea doesn't have the same ability, however.
If a Korean War 2 were to happen it would most likely go down (I doubt it would be a conventional, old fashion war with military sending units across enemy lines and shit... not to mention the 38th parallel is littered with more mines and security greater than that between Pakistan and India) with both countries bombing the shit out of each other and the race of Koreans would probably become more endangered than fucking pandas. In essence, there will be no victor simply because everybody is fucking dead.
In regards to South Korea, they have become one of the most prosperous countries in the world and have a lot more as far as economical value goes while North Korea has basically Kim Jong Un's net worth to lose. This obviously puts South Koreans in a state of what I would call "being pussies" (can't blame them though imagine if Mexico had nuclear weapons and was crazy enough to threaten America with it) while an ordinary North Korean... well has basically no say whatsoever. Many South Koreans don't even want a reunified Korea (peacefully) because it would actually put the unified Korea several decades behind considering all the reconstruction that would need to be implemented on South Korea's part to North Korea. All in all it's a huge fucking mess over there and this would only concern the average American citizen (outside of the whole South Korea being a big part of the global economic power) should China actually step in should a war to actually break out.
To be honest I think China has become a little bit too "world dependent" (as much as the world is dependent to it) to actually start nuking America once a war does to start but there could be a series of unfortunate events that could trigger this reaction. I also don't think North Korea thinks they will win a war against South Korea (left independent or not). They're not that delusional (I don't think at least) to believe they won't actually go into basically a kamikaze war. They're just threatening (successfully for decades now actually as South Korea basically funded their nuclear program with the whole Sunshine policy of ex-prez Kim Dae Jung and his successor Roh Moo Hyun) in desperate attempt to get what they want but they might actually be crazy enough to make their threats a reality.
tl;dr truman should have nuked North Korea decades ago blame him.
