Comments:
Imagine this: You're the last member of the mafia. You've expertly taken down their most important roles and gotten the serial killer lynched, but all your buddies are dead. All that remains is you, the executioner, and the veteran with infinite alerts.
Both you and the veteran make your cases with the executioner. You vote the vet. The vet votes you. Your sphincter is clenched hard as you await the executioner to make his decision.
"I'm siding with the mafia," he says, as the veteran is voted up. You start grinning as the results are revealed: guilty, 2-0. The veteran is lynched.
The screen flashes white. "We have come to a conclusion..." You lean back in your chair and pump your fist. You fought hard for this win, and this is the last mafia role you needed. "GG Exec," you tell your benefactor. The screen flashes again. Your hands tremble in anticipation as you await the game to announce your victory. But something is wrong . . . The music starts playing, but this isn't the theme from The Godfather . . . it's a song about goblins! The victory message flashes:
"The GOBLIN has won!"
The Goblin adds an interesting dynamic in that he is actively trying to get a stalemate situation in order to screw over at least two sides. The Goblin is very versatile. Since he knows all the alignments, he can act as a town role to gain the town's trust. Since he comes up as neutral, he can act like a survivor or amnesiac to draw attention away from himself. Even if the mafia uncovers a Goblin, they have an incentive not to lynch him too early, since the Goblin can reveal their entire team.
Achievements:
Goblins out!: With 1 Citizen, 1 Mafia, and 1 Goblin remaining, lynch the Goblin and win a tie with the Mafia as a Citizen.
