You've been warned, there will be some mature subject matter, and I'll try to keep it as clean as possible.
If a girl says she's Catholic, does that mean no sex until marriage? She can dress provocatively when going out with friends, and say "I just want to look good."? Or do some people claim to be Catholic, but skip on the no-sex part and embrace the other aspects like Communion and such?
For example, a lot of the protestors in the Egyptian Revolution of 2011 were Muslim, but they also decided to rape a lot of women, all of them being non-related and not married to them. Does this mean they can still go to prayer?
One player I was chatting with in SC2 said that he's Catholic, and I inquired him on this subject. He confirmed the "No sex until marriage" rule, but didn't really want to directly answer the "No masturbation" inquiry. Do you think he's just ashamed that he's not following his religious doctrine to the letter?
Then again, it's just a damn book. We're lucky that these days you can do whatever you want without fear of being burned alive.
A Feast for Crows quotation:
Sam Tarly: "You do not understand. Last night we..."
Kojja: "...honored your dead, and the gods who made you both. Xhondo did the same. I had the child, else I would have been with him. All you Westerosi make a shame of loving. There is no shame in loving. If your septons say there is, your seven gods must be demons. In the isles we know better. Our gods gave us legs to run with, noses to smell with, hands to touch and feel. What mad cruel god would give a man eyes and tell him he must forever keep them shut, and never look at all the beauty in the world? Only a monster god, a demon of the darkness." Kojja put her hand between Sam's legs. "The gods gave you this for a reason too, for...what is your Westerosi word?"
