    Host Ranking System

Ok what I wanted to suggest is this, if possible of course. When players setup / host games, at the end players get a vote type thing. They vote the host good or bad. If a player gets to bad of a host rating, it will automatically switch from him, to the person in the room with the highest host rating. Also when -repick is used, It makes the person with the best host rating host first, and the worst host rating last. I hate getting into games, theres a bad host, and you either repick to an afk, or a worse host who just hits start then every1 leaves at name selection screen... It takes me about 4-5 games to actually get 1 that goes all the way through because of troll hosts. So please please! Implement something like this so that the bad hosts can host no more!!

    -- On a side note I found a glitch:
I am Disguiser, I went to disguise myself as someone, but they where BD'ed and switched with my mafioso. So I disguised myself as the mafioso. Now when the GF dies, I am disguised as "mafioso" but I am really disguiser and can't kill. But it glitches and never lets me switch to mafioso . I still won though, convinced the mayor I was mason n the other guy was mafia haha. Mayor lynched him next morning I won. But 3 nights with no kill roles and it never switched me.

Oh also another thing with the voting system. If someone is trolling, You can vote them to be a troll. If they recieve so high of a "troll" rating. There name gets an asterik next to it every game, letting players know that they are most likely trolling.

seeing as mafia games are usually unmoderated, the troll and host vote systems can be abused if they pass from game to game with no evidence being required.

Maybe, the trolls are just getting outrageous. I just want a way to get good hosts,

    Re: Host Ranking System

I actually love the ability to tag people as trolls. Either through the forums possibly or in game Dark can make a list that will mark them as trolls so people know.

It'd be objective, but it'd help out a lot. There is no way to ban someone that I'm aware of though so I doubt he could do something like this.

I don't really like the host setting. The point system is working somewhat decently as the person who the plays the most in any given game will get host IF there is a repick. Otherwise the normal host of the game should always be the host. Joining the Mafia channel is a good way to get into a good game. Even if they have to open to public you still have a good host usually.

Dark can't really fix the problems with trolls and bad hosts since that's just human nature. Every game on SC2 has the same problem, but since Mafia is based on "lying" people think they can "troll" to win and it's more susceptible to it.

    Re: Host Ranking System

The problem with rating systems is that they will most likely be used mainly by trolls themselves. If you ever played a mostly pub game you might have noticed the hate towards donators for example. A lot of pubs would just mark them as trolls as soon as they see colored names etc. Or they would rate a host negatively just because he includes citizens. Rating systems (especially unmoderated ones) are just too easily abused.

Don't agree... some people like to try new things and most players just want the norm. If you don't like their setups, you should try hosting. But blackmarking someone from hosting would not be a wise choice. Or else the same people would end up hosting every game.
By the sounds of it, you don't play too many in house games, which sometimes vary allot from the norm. Example: Masons and Cits get added in sometimes and are still very fun to play. Try putting a cit or mason in a pub you would get thumbs down from everyone.

This I wouldn't mind, avoids lots of repicking if the Host doesn't want to set up the game.

It would be useless to do such a thing as host rating with every player having a voice. You would get a 0/10 in 50% of the cases you include citizen/PM/masons/new setups. Maybe ratings could only be given by players who are donors/have over 1000 points so it would be less fragile to trolls/noobs?

Wise, but donors probably shouldn't get too much control over the game...

I agree with some of the things that others have said. I like to experiment with setups to see what works and tune them, and offer a nice bit of variety in the process. And people who are cool with that are much less likely to vote than the pricks who whine whenever someone does anything a wee bit different from the usual.

Well, trolls can be donors as well as they can have a ton of points (afking in games, your teammates win the game for you etc). So your suggestion would probably mean less abuse but it would probably still be there.
Just leave the system as it is and host yourself or let people host that you know are good players and ignore the trolls.

Deadlytalon I think you should just start hosting games yourself. If you don't like what other people are doing that's the best way to fix it.
