s-fm signups not taking timezones into account

I am not sure if anything can really be done about it but I came to find it sucks that most good signups start right as I am asleep and thus some people don't have the chance to even sign up for them <.<

also think about the s-fm ladder. I think if your S-FM is gonna be for the s-fm ladder make the signups last atleast 36 hours and handpick them as its a bit more fair that way

Should be random'd not hand picked and 24 hours not 36. Hand picking invokes favoritism, and of you can't get online during a 24 hour period, you shouldn't be playing games.
But it's a good idea.

Yes, let's tell the hosts who to put in their games. If they want to "random" or random them, let them. They are the ones who put the effort in to create the game and to host it for the players. They don't have to say they are handpicking, but the hosts should be able to pick who they want to play in their games nonetheless.

As for signups, aren't they open until the host decides to close them? I mean they can fill up and get reserves within 24 hours I guess, but where are you guys getting this 24-36 hours limit?

24 hours in North America is still 24 hours anywhere else in the world. While I do agree that it shouldn't be first come first serve, it is ignorant to suggest the time limit should be 36 hours.
That being said, I reiterate that I agree that there should be a 24 hour signup time limit and either random.org'd or handpicked. Or a mix of both.

Clementine, myself, Blazer, etc etc might say we random.org, but we pick, usually.

Lol....what do you want the hosts to do about that? If they fill up, they fill up. Like Creed has said, the allotted time is the same globally. Maybe you should contact the hosts and be like "Hey if you host this game, I would like to /sign." or something. Some hosts allow presigning, some don't. Doesn't hurt to ask though

A solution would be to not start the game immediately when signups fill. Let an extra 24 hours pass. There's always place for reserves anyway.. right? No need to hurry.

It's up to the hosts how they want to manage it.

In any case, I will never close/move anyone's signups until they either reach the expiration date or the host has already started the game.

I hope hosts chose to handpick the signers. Being in a +- 12 hour difference timezone sucks
