Role name: Lawyer
Description: A member of the town's bar, this man is devoted to defending his client
Alignment: Neutral/Advanced
Abilities: 1. Can choose one person at start of game to represent (or random, see options).
2. The lawyer is made aware of this person's role.
3.. Can whisper/receive whispers from his client at any time even if pm is turned off. These whispers are hidden and not revealed to everyone else.
4. The choosing a client ability is immune to all role blocks (Veteran, Jailor, Bus Driver, immunities)
5. Must vote innocent if client is on trial.
Win Condition: Get to the end of the game without your client getting lynched.
Host Options:
1) Can reveal himself during client's trial and speak along with the client.
.Can take one one additional client
.Can change clients once
.Randomly assigned client
Pros: Makes the trial process significantly more complex as there are multiple voices of reason, can turn the tide of game if client is a high profile character at risk of getting lynched.
Cons: Pretty weak role if chosen client is a weak role (Mason, Citizen)
Overall effect on the metagame if implemented: If client is mafia, the client has to decide if he wants to reveal he has a lawyer. If reveal during trial is turned off, mafia players can bluff that they are lawyer so make other mafia seem innocent. Masons can do the same, though at higher risk. Really, bluffing about lawyers can save you are ruin you.
Additional comments: Just a fun idea i came up with. This character can really make the trial process much more interesting, and bluffing being a lawyer can alter games. Turning the reveal during client's trial on really makes this role a very vocal, finesse character, while turning it off makes his existence itself powerful, though the actual role not so much.
EDIT: I just now did a search and saw this is not the first time this has been suggested, though I feel my take on it is unique enough to merit a new thread.
