NOTE : This is a topic that is aimed to help others in creating role suggestions or prevent them from making bad suggestions / stealing.
I would like others to contribute into making this a successfull guide.
I'm not trying to get any fame, I just love this game and want it to grow in a better direction.
Role suggestions are something that we all favour.
It may be a good suggestion, a horrible suggestion or a repeated suggestion.
Good suggestions are consindered and discussed in the Research and Development forum only accessable to VIP and
donors.
Horrible suggestions are ignored for offense, idiocy, no logic involved, and et cetera.
Repeated suggestions are as it says : A suggestion that has been posted and remade into the same thing with a
different name or even stealing a role.
So what can we do, to make a good suggestion?
Here's what you can do :
__________________________________________________ _________________
1. The role name has to be legal and not offensive.
Racism, sexuality, offense, religion, etc...
Examples : Rapist, Suicide Bomber, Osama Bin Laden, Nigger, KKK, Nazi.
__________________________________________________ _________________
2. The role needs an impact on the game.
For example, all the current roles adds an impact on the game from start to end.
Roleblocking, Killing, Investigation, Framing, etc.
We don't need a role who's purpose is entirely a joke and stands around doing nothing.
(Like who's immune to death, roleblocks, jailing, lynching, and can't kill)
__________________________________________________ _________________
3. The role needs to be somewhat unique, or different from existing roles.
For example, a jailor performs a "Perfect Roleblock" with ability to kill them too.
We need no more roles with such.
We also have a Survivor, so we don't need another Survivor-like role.
What would be unique may be Mechanics: Order of Actions Manipulation.
All you need is creativity or understanding of the game.
It won't be unique if you're combining existing roles as it will almost always be ignored.
__________________________________________________ _________________
4. The role needs a goal.
You don't make a role who doesn't have a goal, or a horrible goal.
For example, visit 3 players starting with the letter G. That's a horrible goal.
A reasonable goal would be "Survive with Town", "Kill all Neutral", "Win with Everyone", "Kill at least 5."
__________________________________________________ _________________
5. The role needs a balance.
Bad Example : Each night you can kill/roleblock three targets with no exception... Unbalanced.
Good Example : Each night you can target one to kill/roleblock, having one night to rest.
If a role is not balanced, it may be overpowered or underpowered.
Underpowered : Very hard to win as, not enough tools to use.
Overpowered : Very easy to win as, too many tools to use.
__________________________________________________ _________________
6. Roles involved Luck are bad.
RNG (Random Number Generation) are generaly not fun and mostly only frustrating.
Please do not include roles with such E.G % chance to do this and that.
__________________________________________________ _________________
7. The role need to be enjoyable or fun.
Playing a boring role are something encouraging Rolequitting, or making the player useless.
In general, some roles may appear fun to you and boring to others so seek a balance for everyone.
__________________________________________________ _________________
8. You need to search the forums if the role has been suggested.
A small change of a role may be acceptable, but think of what others may approve.
In addition, it might be wise to search role suggestions to see what is disaproved.¨
And last, don't search the forums just to steal a role. Think about respect.
__________________________________________________ _________________
9. You need to make it easy to understand.
Bad : So liek that doctor has to target someone and he like gets anti-died.
Good : The doctor targets someone, preventing them to die for that night.
__________________________________________________ _________________
10. Constructive Cricism shouldn't be ignored.
Giving constructive criticism to improve the role or why it's bad, you are free to adjust the role.
But think why it's good, as most may disagree with eachothers.
__________________________________________________ _________________
11. Take your time.
Brainstorming causes someone to get too many ideas at once without thinking it through.
Instead, write down your ideas short and then take your time to think it.
For example :
Kill, Roleblock, Dual Target, Immune.
You can only kill once, you can only roleblock once, you're immune to death, can target two at once.
In addition, you may look it from another perspective : What would the others think when they read this?
__________________________________________________ _________________
12. Don't spam topics full of suggestions.
If you're going to make more then two suggestions, make a single topic with all the suggestions instead.
Prefferably with Spoiler Tag for each role.
__________________________________________________ _________________
So here's an example : I will make my own role.
You can make your own template out of this :
Spoiler : Role Suggestion: Surgeon :
Good luck with making role suggestions, and thank you all for having contributed to making this guide.
