    Lightbulb Role - Shaman

    I figured I would throw out my other idea for a role, this role sort of gives another reason to stay once you have died. I understand this may be hard to add to the game, but I figure if it could be done, it would be fun.

    Role – Shaman

    Neutral Evil

    Alignment – None

    Discipline – You feel for the dead and wish to grant them revenge one last time.

    Abilities – Use the deads’ spirits to control a person.

    ~~~Key features of Shaman~~~

    •You can talk to the dead at night. The dead, of course, cannot talk back. (Spy can hear shaman)

    •When you target someone at night, a person who has died, aka their spirit, can control the target. The dead spirit does not know who he/she is controlling nor does the shaman know whose spirit he/she has summoned (shaman could possible figure it out through reasoning). After controlling a person, the spirit has achieved inner peace and passes on. (He/she cannot be summoned again)

    •If the summoned spirit had left the game or does not select a target, the target will be random.

    •Spirit can cause self-targets

    ~~~Key General Notes~~~

    - (On/off) Can summon multiple spirits in one night, but shaman must then wait the next night before summoning again.

    - Appears to investigator as “The target seeks justice. He/she could be a sheriff, executioner or shaman.”

    - If the spirit targets the shaman, the target (will, will not) visit the shaman. If he/she does not then no action will be performed. (Shaman could have a spirit ward, to keep possessed people away)

    - A counter will let shaman know how many spirits he/she has remaining. Every person killed, adds one to the counter, every target removes one.

    Victory conditions – Game will only end when all killing roles have died. If all killing roles have died, Shaman wins with other winning factions.

    I am unsure about the victory conditions, but I feel it fits with the Shaman's purpose. Also it technically allows shaman to win with any faction. Maybe not mafia since all mafia roles can become killers when alone.

    The talking to dead is to either allow the shaman to let the dead know who they will be controlling or ploy them target someone, or to trick them. Also gives a little more meaning to the spy.

    I am also unsure how the Shaman should appear to investigative roles. Justice seeker fits his description, but i doubt a Shaman would look to be a sheriff or exe.

    Metagame would be affected, I think in a fun way. I mean it would be awesome for a dead person to get their revenge on a SK or something.

    IF it would be impossible to get the dead to target someone, I would suggest just making Shaman cause random selections and making it so he/she can use as many spirits in a night without waiting.

    but normally anything that has to do with Dead Players... or Randomization is a bad idea...

    Basically when someone dies, the shaman gains the ability target someone DURING THE DAY (-possess) The person targeted will be possessed (controlled) by a person who has died at night. The person who has died will be able to choose the next target of the controlled victim. If multiple are dead, shaman can select multiple targets to be controlled, with a 1 night cooldown after that.

    The shaman does not know what dead player he calls upon, nor does the dead person know who he is targeting.

    Each dead person only gets to be called on once.

    Shaman at night can chat with himself, and everyone who is dead sees it. So Shaman can tell the dead what he is did and wants done, or lie. The dead cannot talk back of course.

    I just wanted to throw it out there, seeing what people thought about it.

    Sorry if it was hard to follow, I tried to use lingo that played along with the Shaman.

    Well, I just had a similar idea 2 days ago.

    Role: Medium

    Align: Town

    Ability: Force the spirit to come inside you for 1 day and talk by you. After that, you have a 1-day cooldown.

    Specials: Each dead player may be brought back to life only once

    What for:
    Well, first of all, this could help with Janitor's and Disguiser's targets. They could just reveal to town who they were and their lw. This could also find out the disg. (All "That's OP, man" ppl should read further). Also this would add a new type of wifoming for maf in-game, claiming being brought back to life and saying false clues against townies.
    Also it 'd be nice to bring back a smart town player, who played well and helped town but died.

    I think this role should be just rare, but possible in setups. Just as Spy.

    Not to discourage you, it's a good role; but in my opinion it doesn't fit with the game
    1. No interaction with the dead in any form
    2. In my opinion SCIIMafia is constricted to simpler roles which this role does not fit in
    3. Unclear goal ( victory condition ) leaves the effect on the metagame to be questioned

    yeah... but then the dead player will have gotten to talk to other dead players and gotten information they shouldn't have gotten...

    only way i'd see this work is if it randomly picks one of the players that died that same night... that way the player would be newly dead and wouldn't have gotten to talk to other dead players yet

    thinking about it... that could maybe even work... Medium shouldn't visit anyone... but rather do an action at home... not a fan of Randomization... but it'll at least remove the part about dead players that i don't like (them talking with each other)
