Post count does in some ways show the power if the user, so I voted no.
Spoiler : :
post counts stuipid now
general disscion does not count BUT still holds board rules making it a Upper class CJ
so it then falls on the other areas so becomes a posting war for frist post
I don't know if Yes, Post count should increase rep, or Yes, Post count should not increase rep
So I pick the don't care option
More people trade reputation than post farm.
Lol "Post count should not increase post count" Poll name fail.
I love oops

Don't care. Rep has been meaningless ever since people started trading it.

I doubt that it actually will get done. It just seems so unneeded
The problem with posts giving any kind of power, at all, is that it encourages people to make short and inconsequential posts. Hell, even naturally some people are more likely to post less on average than others in each post, and yet their contribution to the community will remain the same no matter their content per post (as long as they don't make it so obvious that they get in trouble).
Even if every person put a lot of time and thought into each and every post they made, the idea of getting power of any kind from the number of posts you've made rather than from contribution is odd to me. Especially when you can trade Rep and such. The only advantage is encouraging people to post more often, and if the only incentive you have for people to post is an increase in their numbers and/or standing you won't get as many good posts.
Well, the one upside of encouraging people to post more often is a very strong upside, people like to see numbers increase (look to the success of World of Warcraft for proof). I disagree with posts granting power on their own, but I do see the reasoning behind it, the main reasoning being that its the way things have been and on its own *shouldn't* matter, as long as mods keep spam posts in check. Which can be a problem at times, not to disparage any of the mods here (I did just get back after all, so I'm not up-to-date on mod efficiency here).
