    New Roles Suggestions: Locksmith, Pickpocket, Copycat

    Locksmith
    Town: Sup/Adv

    Description : You are a Locksmith, in charge of repairing and changing the locks of your fellow townsmen.

    Abilities:
    Change the lock of a person at night. They cannot leave their house, thus they cannot be visited, nor can they visit somebody that night (essentially a roleblock + immunity)

    Special Attributes:
    • If your target is alive, you have to repair the lock, this takes 1 night to do, when you can't use your ability.
    • Suicide (even Jester lynch caused suicide) and Arsonist burn still work on the person that had their lock changed.


    Options:
    • Can target self: On/Off (Default: On)


    Action description (received by the target): You tried to leave your house, but you noticed that none of your keys work, so you decided to call up the local locksmith to get them fixed the next day.

    Investigator message: Your target is adept a tusing their quick fingers. They might be either a locksmith or a Pickpocket.

    Operation order: Repairing the lock isn't an ability, so it should be first in turn of events at night, so that said person can be visited/killed by anyone and use his ability nonetheless. Changing the lock should be the first thing to happen at night aswell.

    Goal: Lynch every criminal and evildoer.

    Pick Pocket

    Sup/Adv, or Basic/Sup

    Description: You are a young thief, blessed with swift hands.

    Abilities:

    Steal the ID and Housekeys of 1 Person. That night, your target will appear as a citizen, and will not be able to use their ability.

    Special Attributes:
    If your target is alive the next day, he’ll file a complaint about a pickpocket. You won’t be able to use your ability the next day as the police will be searching for you at day.
    Action description (received by the target): When you finally got home, you couldn’t find your ID and your Keys. You won’t be able to do anything tonight.

    Investigator message: Your target is adept a tusing their quick fingers. They might be either a Locksmith or a Pickpocket.

    Operation order: Before the locksmith. (Pickpocket -> Locksmith -> Jailor -> rest)


    Copycat
    Benign/Advanced

    Description: You are a copycat, striving to be like your idol.

    Abilities:
    • Choose 1 person the first night (if you don't, you'll randomly get assigned 1 person).
    • You gain the same ability as that person. (exception : You don't get the Mayors ability)

    Special Attributes:
    • You are not told the alignment of your rolemodel, only his ability.
    • You win if your rolemodel's faction wins.

    Options:
    Excluded from randoms : On/Off (Default : Off)

    Comments : I think the locksmith and the pickpocket should have an ability like the jailor does, writing –lock or –pick to choose their target at day, thus giving them priority for their night ability.

    Locksmith is great! Nothing more I can say about it.

    Pickpocket not Pick Pocket ;) You've just inspired me to make a new role basing on your idea may I do it?

    I would change Copycat's name for Starstruck. Funnier for me ;P

    Copycat is just like an Amnesiac but getting alive person's skills. Note that there are some roles that have unique abilities and should not be revealed that way like Serial Killer - killing with knives. But well... even though it's very similar it seems to be good as it is. I like it!

    It's an interesting series of roles. I feel the Copycat is just unneeded, mostly because it could take the form of another killing role. (Turning 3 Mafia into 4 essentially.)

    However, the Pickpocket and Locksmith are both interesting and fun roles to play as or have in-game. They're the first breath of fresh air I've read out of the Suggestions recently.

    i just randomly come up with these things, exam time really inspires anything but studying.
    i'll probably come up with some more ideas sometime soon
    go ahead jack
    + sage, you wouldn't know your alignment + whoever is on your team, so even if you get a mafia killing role, u might just aswell kill off your own "team"
    aswell as you do not gain the special attributes, nor any other benefits of your role
    if you idolise SK, he might still kill you off + you got no night immunity
    besides, the copycat killing message could be tweaked so it shows up as something like "The victim was killed by a lunatic who is copying the recent killing spree" or smth

    I'm going to go with the majority vote.

    Locksmith feels like doctor and jailor fused up into a more benign role to prevent pubs from random execution. Especially those that don't learn, or perhaps do not have the time to play a burst of 6 hours of mafia until they've seen it all, laughed at all their mistakes and became a better player.

    It's counter balanced by a bad counterpart, which makes it fair enough so that it's harder to detect. Like the others already said, copycat is not as good a role.

    Locksmith looks really good but role-block and immunity combined seems overpowered, I mean if a mayor is spotted then locksmith can just protect him until endgame.

    Locksmith can't roleblock a jailor or protect him?

    Pickpocket looks good as well could be added to Disguiser(?) / stealing ID. Ability to lockpick and release a person in jail.

    Copycat is itch please, maybe role change to "Photographer" just visiting people with the strangely observant message on investi.

    Most of those sound really great, the Locksmith is a role block for the town, and also kind of acts as a jailer, since people can't harm them. However I don't think they should ever be able to target themselves, basically some trolls can target themselves all nights and never die. Pick Pocket seems alright, and the Copycat.

    1. His ability doesn't depends on whether or not somebody got lynched.
    2. He can't kill.
    3. He can't talk with his target.
    2 + 3 these mechanics also work in favor for evil/maf roles, since jailor would just execute any fake claims to being imprisoned, whereas locksmith can't do that (also i firmly believe Jailor is by far the strongest role in the entire game.. period)
