Point ban for playing too much; ashfall's RQ

    https://www.sc2mafia.com/forum/showth...990#post177990

I (username ashfall) made 12k in the span of 3 months and got a point ban for it. Good job catching me, I have no life and spent a few minutes every day for 3 months hacking my points bit by bit until I got 20k. Very good moderators, must be some expert crime fighters in there, catching my grand scheme and all.

How many people have actually done something like this? Hmm? I earned those points without doing anything to my bank file (besides saving a backup every 1K). Way to overreact. Next step is banning every non-donator that has any points at all. Because having any points at all without being a donator makes it pretty clear that you hacked your bank file.

    I'm done with Mafia.

I used to play lots of sc2 mafia, but then I joined the forums and spend that time on forum mafia instead.
10 hours / day would be unreasonable but like 7 games per day isn't unreasonable at all.

It's not like ashfall got all those points overnight. From what I saw Ambient post in another thread he has been getting them at a steady rate over 3 months...

ashfall is an entirely legitimate player, more active than most anyone I know.

DR, you should be flattered it's players like him who play your creation so much over the video game initially bought in order to. I was such a player for several months before. It is an active compliment to the value of SC2 Mafia.

We all play video games; it's a substitution for other habits. Activity should be appreciated, not punished.

He's a great player too. And a very cool guy.

If he's on a "points ban", he shouldn't be.

Once he passed 10K and the new achievements with all the high bonus points, he started playing a lot more, seeking -prefer.

Being motivated means you're a points hacker?

Also, with the achievements and how people farm them, this data...

    "May: 8.2k | 154 W | 316 total
    June: 10.6k | 240 W | 439 total
    July: 13.5k | 347 W | 601 total
    July: 18k | 512 W | 867 total
    July: 21 k | 647 W | 1090 total"

... is entirely legitimate. I'm very active too when I play and I'm pretty sure I have more of a life--and a quite enjoyable one--than most.

As usual, an assumption is made, and someone's hobby and dedication is ruined for it.

This is why there are so many gamethrowers, grievers, cheaters, hackers, and "trolls".

Mods should both learn from their mistakes and be humble enough to admit it and fix them.

This is yet another travesty maliciously inflicted upon someone's life. If someone were to meet you and beat you up and take your computer, how would you feel? How about: meet you, beat you up, and take your car? Or motorcycle? Or girlfriend? Or favorite shirt? It's not the seeming frivolousness of the object being stolen from someone else by others hiding behind their computer, it's the fact that something is being stolen from someone else without warrant.

If the things mods do on here were face-to-face, I believe none of the the things mods do would fly.

I really feel for ashfall; the same thing was done to me and I've felt truly insulted and frustrated about it ever since. Fortunately, I have better things to do. For all you know, playing SC2 Mafia brings ashfall great joy and escape from problems in his life. To play judge is a horrible thing, especially without the humility to imagine yourself in someone else's shoes.

What was done to him deserves to be fixed today.

(And for the record, no one just "plays for points". This game is played by anyone, because they enjoy playing it. Points are a bonus and a means to gain -blacklist and -prefer, which greatly affect the enjoyability of this game.)

I gotta agree with Xen here. It doesn't seem right to be punishing someone for playing your game too much, or even using that as a fallback reason in the chance that he DID legitimately get those points. Seems more like an easy way out of admitting to someone's bad call.

Also, what you just essentially did was put down a warning for people not to play your game too much, or this might happen. Might as well put "too much playing" in the table of crimes and punishments.

ashfall needs redeemed. He played daily and nightly for hours and hours for weeks. He was very eager and excited to get -prefer and when he finally got it, he was happy about it and didn't stop playing. I used to joke with him about 1.5 erasing everyone's points and he got paranoid and started browsing the forums to prove me wrong and said he backs up his file daily and that he'd quit if that happens.

    This is the truth.

Let the man play his game with what he earned. I got watchlisted for "hacking points" before, yet, I never did. I got KV'ed for "gamethrowing", yet, I never did that either (just trolled Landstander as any righteous player would).

ashfall neither trolled anyone nor let others use his account. He is completely innocent.

    Immediate redemption is crucial.

Hard to say who's right here. I played like 14 games yesterday but only saw ashfall once

Then again he is actually a decent player and I wouldn't be surprised about his score before this shit

Why is it, that, every time I read something you type, I feel like you want to get punched in the face.

    Yeah, you're exactly right.

    Get on Battle.net.

    Click ashfall's profile.

    View Match History.

Then stfu and fix this like a rightful mod would do.

I should be a mod. I should handle strictly appeals, nothing else. I would be OP.

Analyzing his win gain rate and providing that information without posting an opinion here. Yep definitely makes me a bad person. A+

I hope you guys took into consideration all the points he obtained for getting every achievement into your statistical analysis. It's probably close to like 5-8k points from all of those.

With the way he was playing 10-15 hours a day of JUST Mafia... he needs more social interaction hang out with friends, talk with family. I think this was nessacary. But he did work hard to earn them.
