    Role Idea: Engineer (Town)

    Description: An engineer working to use his abilities for the good of the town.
    Abilities: Every night, the Engineer targets a player and will replicate their tools, thus being able to use their role's ability on a player the following night. The Engineer is not told what the ability is, and can choose both a target for the engineered tools and a new target to observe in the same night.
    Win Condition: Wins with town.
    Pros:
    [list type=decimal][*]If they figure out town power roles, they can greatly boost the power of the town.[*]Can also act as an investigative role by seeing the effect of the target's abilities.[/list]
    Cons:
    [list type=decimal][*]Can harm the town by using unintended effects on the wrong people, e.g. roleblocking or killing town power roles.[/list]
    Overall effect on the metagame if implemented: This will be another role that will be powerful in the hands of a skilled player, but potentially harmful in the hands of a newbie. The role needs more planning and thought, since you have to be more or less certain of an engineered ability before using it, in fear of harming the town.

    I believe this might be a bit too hard to implement, I mean, what would happen if the "tools" he creates are the ones of a disguiser? At the next night, when he uses those tools, whom will he join? What will happen? I don't think the role will work without limitations.

    He will disguise as his target and continue being able to engineer things.

    Nice, I really like the concept of this role. What happens if he selects a two target role such as a witch or bus driver?

    So, to clarify,

    on n1 the engineer picks a person to duplicate his ability, then n2 he would be able to use it.
    n3, he would have to pick a new target to duplicate but would have to wait till n4 to use his ability.

    So during alternating nights, the engineer can kill, roleblock, silence, investigate, be a lookout, be a detective, etc...

    If he were to target a lookout, detective, sheriff, or invest he would immediately know their role after using their ability. If he got witch or bd, he would narrow it down to 2 possible roles. If he got a killing role (GF,mafioso, SK, vig) he could narrow it down fairly quickly.

    In spite of the role being limited to alternating night use, I feel it is a bit too powerful. That being said, I think it is a great suggestion that we should definitely look into.

    Ah nevermind, disregard my comment. I misread and understand now.
