    Sliders for Role Abilities

    In Mafia, changing the amount of charges an ability during Setup has requires a separate check-box for each number. My suggestion is to replace the check-boxes with a Slider.

    If the check-boxes are replaced with Sliders, most roles can be given two extra options during setup, allowing for additional customization. In these slots, roles like the Janitor can be given optional settings such as "Detection Immunity" while other roles like the Vigilante could be given the "Pierce Night Immunity" and "Immune at night" abilities.

    Basically, Sliders should replace check-boxes because check-boxes take up too much space.

    good suggestion. also, that would be too op for vigi imo, because then there is no point in night immunity.

    Yeah, but town shouldn't be balanced in terms of killing power. You do that then it could be argued that mafia should have more than 3 members. If you do that might as well have 3 factions that are evenly balanced.

    I remove gf altogether and replace with a mafioso.

    i would never remove immunity from sk or arson, however. Being a solo evil is tough enough (especially for an arson).

    Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but 1.5 was released recently, so I thought I'd revive this as well.

    So, how did sliders work out for the 1.5 Editor?

    Sliders would be a huge pain to add, primarily because it would involve having to rearrange a ton of options throughout the code. Even if by some miracle everything didn't break, it would still take a shockingly long time to complete. Adding sliders for new roles wouldn't be as much of an ordeal, but would be an exercise in futility.

    More checkboxes is possible (I can put up to 10 of them in there) but the problem is squeezing them into that small space. You forget that the map has to be playable on a 4:3 monitor and there is no empty space in the setup UI on a non-widescreen monitor. If you can come up with some kind of clever solution, though, I'm all ears.

    Maybe you could do it the same way the day time sliders are done?
    Although, It would be a lot of work, considering there are about 18 roles to re-do, whatever the method used..

    Perhaps an "options" or "additional options" button that would bring up more checkboxes in a new window? Dunno if that's possible

    Relplace the bottom most one with a button that pops up a new window that would select from different options, with a backgroud that isn't transparent. Yeah that could work, right?

    What's the point of a vigi that can't kill anything. I just limit his shots to two and make him pierce immunity. Godfather, SK, and Arso immune, forces them to go after each other if kill fails. Witch not immune, so he has to be more careful to make sue mafia don't kill him.

    Also finding the Vigil as a witch is just lol.

    Oh and on topic, too many options are also a bad thing, for every option a new conflict is created of how people want to play. There needs to be some "balance". The only option I'd want, like in the case of Vigil and Jailor is randomize amount uses, which could be the first option for the slider.
