It's not okay at all.
Not sure if this was mentioned in another topic on this site but the word "hero" is passed out like candy at a doctor's office. Even enlisting in the military gets you called a hero nowadays.
It's one of the most honored label; It's hard for people to believe "heroes" can commit atrocities. So as sad as it is, people will keep romanticizing the image of a soldier.
