Role: Homeless

Disclaimer: Yes, the name sounds cheesy, but hear me out, I find the role quite interesting at least. Thanks!

Name: Homeless
Alignment: None (Neutral)
Description: An outcast, living in the streets after his own home had been contaminated. Wishes for nothing else than a new place to live.
Goal: Be alive and in possession of a house as the game ends. It doesn't matter who wins aslong as you are alive and in a home.
Abilities: Break In: Visit a player's home at night. If the owner of the house is out at the time, you will steal his/hers home and lock the previous owner out, making him/her homeless.
Mechanics: While Homeless, you cannot be targeted in what used to be your home as it's contaminated. Any player who visits your contaminated home will get a message that the home was deserted long ago.
If a Mafia or Serial Killer fails to kill their target at night because of the target being healed, they will kill the Homeless instead on their way home in rage over their failed mission. This applies to any homeless target, even if the homeless was once Mafia.
If the Homeless takes over an other player's house, that player will temporary homeless, losing all abilities and given the Break In ability. Mafias, Masons and Cults who are temporary homeless may still chat with their allies at night. Any player that's homeless as the game ends instantly loses, even if their team has won. Therefore, a Mafia member who turns homeless and doesn't find a new home before the game ends while the Mafia wins will still lose, even when the other Mafias wins.
Other info: As investigative roles search a player's home, not the player itself, they will get the message that the home was deserted. Roleblocking roles such as Escort, Consort, Jailor and Bodyguard will get a message that they were unable to find the man/woman they sent out to block/jail/protect. Therefore, a Bodyguard who visits the deserted house of a Homeless cannot die protecting their target even if a killer also visits the house that night, simply because the Bodyguard will go home when he/she finds no-one to protect.
Can cause a lot of confusion, as most roles check players' houses and not the players themselves, so one night a house can belong to a Mafia, the other to a (previous) Homeless.
Options:
• Arsonists who visits the Homeless' deserted home will be given information that the home was deserted (Default OFF)
• The Homeless will die of starvation if he doesn't find a home in (4/5/6) nights (Default OFF)


I think these were the essential things, I might've missed something. I find the role quite unique and adds a new element to the game.

This will be a difficult role to play as, WIFOM style.

You getting killed in rage, you naturally exclude waiting for a good night / day.
That means you have to break in a house.

I expected something lame like you have to visit somebody on the night they die and take their home that way but transferring the role is awesome.

btw lets say homeless takes a sheriff house and the sheriff (homeless now) successfully breaks in does the sheriff regain sheriff role?

I would assume so. The role would not be good for the game otherwise.

So the win condition for homeless is?

If you start as a homeless and break into a home, are you granted a new role or are you homeless?

If someone is kicked out of their home and becomes homeless, when they get back in their home, do they get their role back or are they permahomeless?

I would think the original homeless person simply has to survive till the end, in a house that is. When someone is kicked out of their home I think they would get their role back if they kick someone else out of their home.

The original homeless person should be immune to being kicked out of their home.

Only the original Homeless has the victory condition that's stated in the OP; " Be alive and in possession of a house as the game ends. It doesn't matter who wins aslong as you are alive and in a home."
Any other player who turns homeless because the original Homeless (or any other homeless for that matter) stole their house will regain their abilities once they get a new home. They never lose their role, only their abilities (and the victory condition, as they need to find a new home before the game ends).

Yes, I know, it gets confusing with the role being called Homeless and that a player can be homeless. Maybe one of the two should be changed?

If you are homeless, you have to find a new home. If you are the original Homeless or if you have turned homeless because someone stole your home, you have to find a new home, not necessarily your old one.

You cannot claim a home from a dead player.

Yes, the fear of getting killed in rage by Mafia/Serial Killer keeps the Homeless from being AFK, waiting for a good night. It prompts him to try and search for a new home.

Yes, the Sheriff never loses his role, only his abilities and victory condition while he's homeless.

No, your role is still Homeless, but you have fulfilled half the victory condition, now you just have to stay alive till the end.

Correct!
The original homeless person should be immune to being kicked out of their home.
That was my thought exactly. As you can only lose your home if you go out during the night (to kill, investigate, roleblock etc), the original Homeless cannot lose his new home once he has found one, simply because he cannot take any other action at night.

If you want to see it that way, yes. But he has to successfully claim a new house when the game ends AND survive till the end. But the essential isn't really his goal, but the impact the house-swapping will have on the metagame along with the fact that all the sudden a mafia or a serial killer could be homeless for a night (or more!) if their house is stolen.

Well , the problem is like the exe : the town will lynch he because MAYBE CAN do damage ( not even DOES DAMAGE , even if he CAN do ) by stole the sherrif/investigator's house , and thath' s bad , because you cannot reveal in both cases

Yes, that's why he is neutral.
If the town wishes to waste a lynch on a homeless (who can be both to help or harm to the town, thus neutral), that's their choice.
