I saw the snapchat, it looked dank af
What games are you running with it?
Spoiler : Orpz FM History :
I just tested the DOOM demo, max everything with all that's possible is silky smooth. Gonna play GTA V next and last will probably be The Witcher 3. I'm saving that one until after I've finished The Witcher 2 which will come after I will have finished The Witcher (the first one). A few hours away from finishing that one.
But man, sitting on my old card (AMD Radeon HD 7770) I just put off playing a lot of games because they were laggy af. Love my card already.
Now if I could just fix my monitor input.. I've got an old ass monitor so I'm stuck going HDMI -> HDMI for now because the other possibility would be converting DVI-D to VGA (monitor only has those two). I've only got a DVI-I to VGA here and the card only supports DVI-D. Sucks ass, I ordered a converter and I hope it'll fix the color issues I have. If not then I'll have to wait until next month to buy a new monitor.
Oh well.
That sounds pretty awesome. Was it worth the cost? I don't know much about monitors so I can't help you there. Some dudes at Fry's Electronics helped me out but I'm nearly certain they tried to get me to buy the most expensive one, so I went for a cheap 1920x1080 monitor.
I'm mostly going to only be running Civ and Assassin's Creed games, so I don't see a need to upgrade my 970 for a while.
Spoiler : Orpz FM History :
Yeah dude, the 970 is a decent beast in its own right. If you ignore the broken 0.5gb then it's a really nice card for the money.
The 1070 is a bit above what I would consider "best bang for your buck". I'm usually an advocate of that buying strategy because I'd rather spend 300€ on a card every 3-5 years but right now the GTX 1070 is one of the best and at a very affordable price. 500€ was totally in my current price range and I really wanted to max out everything for The Witcher 3 at 60+ fps so I opted to spend a little more. Was it worth it? Probably. I'm certainly not disappointed so far (haven't checked out many games though, still downloading most). Could a cheaper card have done the job? Of course. But I had the money and I felt that since gaming is the biggest hobby I have besides working out.. money well spent.
Not gonna need to upgrade for many years. I might keep my current rig for 5 or so years from this point on (if nothing's gonna crap out on me) if the CPU will still hold up performance wise (running the i5 3570k) and even then I might not even upgrade my video card. To be honest 5 years brings a lot of change to the hardware world. But in 5 years.. man will I be able to afford a monster of a rig. Looking forward to that already.
Rambling on.. I might buy a "cheap" 1080p 60hz monitor to replace my current piece of crap and my new main monitor will be a 144hz monitor. Maybe 1440p but certainly not 4k. Only when I have two monitors and one of being the 144hz one will I be content. Estimated time frame until I have everything.. 3-4 months.
Ayy I just finished The Witcher. Pretty nifty game, I enjoyed it for a game that's already 12 years old. Really liked the choices you could make in the game and the combat system grew on me. And I found myself wanting to do nearly every side quest.
Haha yea, true. But I have a problem where I want to do everything in a game and always have the best shit. Another problem I have in Witcher is that I work hard to unlock specific gear. By the time I complete the quest, it caused my level to increase and there is better stuff. Vicious Circle.
Heh well I didn't have that problem in the game because I always aimed for the top gear. There are only a few specific items you can carry over from Witcher 1 to 2 and I kinda wanted that prestige and also that gear is baller as fuck. I was only able to finish those quests for the gear near the end of the game though because the game doesn't allow you to.
That reminds me: I have a bad problem of googling the choices of a quest when I'm in front of one and don't know which to choose. I usually want the outcome I like the most and this way I get more enjoyment out of the quest. It might be a form of cheating but well if it helps me have more fun.. I guess it's okay? :P
@Cryptonic i'm just about to make coffee, want me to make a pot big enough for you to have some when you get home or naw?

Yeah, I guess I will end up looking up many choices again.. atleast when I'm 100% unsure about what to do. I'm only an hour or two in though, played the tutorial and I'm at the "prologue" I'd call it where you're at the castle/monastery. It looks great with everything maxed out but combat is hard af compared to the first Witcher.
Whoop I caught my first Pokémons today
