Hello everyone! We have been invited to the Mafia Championship on MafiaUniverse, a huge cross-community event! I will let you read the official invitation itself here (link).

Like for the previous season, there are conditions a player needs to meet in order to be eligible to represent us at the tournament. They are:

- The representative must have played at least one FM game on Sc2 Mafia this year.

- The representative must be willing to represent us and to play the Championship game(s).

- The representative must have no criminal history pertaining to FM on Sc2 Mafia.

Additionally, you must have played FM on this site to vote in this thread. Smurf votes are obviously not valid.


You may put your vote on an eligible member to be our representative using the [vote]The member's username[/vote] vote system. The runner-up in votes will be selected as our back-up.

Smurf votes are not accepted, obviously, and so are votes for someone who explicitely stated they did not want to go. As for any further clearly trolly votes, they will be deleted and are subject to infractions. I am sad that it has to come to this; we have a chance to make Sc2 Mafia shine and to meet new people in a serious but fun manner. This post from Helz, posted in the thread for the same event last year, is still shining with truth.

So just to be honest we no longer have a player draw with the loss of growth in SC2 and we alienate ourselves from the global community in a number of ways.

I will be sad when this community no longer exists but I hope its worth the cheap jokes we keep making out of our opportunities to do something with the global community and I really dislike that the people who care the least hang around and perpetuate the situation.

Please take this thread seriously. You guys can be real dicks sometimes and it makes me feel worth less for caring about the community when you so carelessly make a joke out of something that gives the site any future. We could have a huge player draw with the unique level of complexity in our games if we could just stop catering to the toxic attitude and apathy that has become the culture of this site.

People who meet the requirements are eligible, and everyone is considered as volunteer unless they explicitely say they do not want to participate. Making sure people know you're voting for them might be a good idea, by the way.

I added a countdown to the original post so that the representative will be ready to be sent on the 20th of April, to make sure we are in the delays; there is still a lot of time to vote.

Clarification : given that Toadette is basically Banana's other main, she can vote, but Banana himself can't vote if Toadette votes. S-FM Pringles obviously doesn't have a voice.

but what is your voting criteria? The best player? pretty hard to decide that. Looks like most people going that route are picking frinckles but there is also a clear recency bias there. I wonder if in the future if we can keep the ladder consistent maybe next year we send the ladder winner?

@Frinckles this is not meant to be shade. You are great and I love you, it just feels like many of these votes are based on the most recent FM game(s) and not looking at the past year as a whole

I am personally voting MM because he's the one who took it upon himself to keep this site's FM section alive when:
1) he wasn't even staff yet
2) there was zero active staff on the forum mafia side of things!
3) there were some higher level folks who were resistant to letting someone new take the reigns making things that much harder for him

and on top of that, he is a great player. He sucks at scum, to be honest, but he is a great towny.


I know many are also now angry at MM for greylisting efe. But again, he created the greylist a few months ago because he is trying to bring this FM community back to life and recognized that, as it stood, there were really no punishments or deterrents at all for acting like a butt. I am personally a big fan of efe but at the same time I recognize many strong players who have played on our site have stated that they would not play again if people who have played like efe are in the game. The way we were going, strong players like that were discouraged from staying here and trolly players were encouraged to stay. MM's efforts are to bring in a new age where the quality of games here only improves over time.

Seriously, I may sound like an advertisement here, but as somebody who has seen it all going on behind the scenes, I really want MM to get this as a reward for all he's done to help improve this site in the past year.
